It's a Matt Stone and Trey Parker offering. And considering how South Park started off as REASONABLY funny but then progressively became shitter and shitter and shitter...largely because Stone and Parker aren't quite as funny as they like to think they are, I'm not even putting the effort in to watch the trailer. I KNOW it'll be shit without seeing squat.

Woohoo...shit...squat...that's the kinda crappy unfunny link that Stone and Parker always make...eurgh...infantile moronic crap.

ah sarah michelle, she should really try to get away from that genre. from teen thriller to just... thriller.

i agree with haz, south park started funny and went american pie-ish. gratuitous. and parker and stone really aren't as funny as they (or the 10yr old male population) would like to think.

but with that said, this movie looks funny because of the puppets. such funny puppets with such bad voice-impersonations. comical, really.

Arrr...see I like Bob. She's a savvy customer...has a keen sense of taste and a very clear way of presenting her views. Much impressed I must say.

The Grudge...not seen it yet but since it's written and directed by Takashi Shimizu (I hope I spent that right) the guy who made the Japanese original called Ju-On it shouldn't be too bad. Ju On fucking rocked. However I do have a SLIGHT fear this'll turn out to be like The Ring...which isn't a patch on Ringu.

Back on topic. Still not convinced much. Stone and Parker, whenever they injected overtly political elements into South Park failed miserably...they were much better at social critique than political satire, and again I just have a slight fear they'll fuck it up here again. Meh...may watch it when it comes out on DVD, especially if I can get hold of it for free <coughs nervously>. But I'm not shelling out to see it at the cinema.

Well at the risk of taking this off topic that's largely because unlike Ringu they're using the same director...not crucial but important...I actually REALLY hope The Grudge IS as good as Ju-On...if it is it'll be something fucking special.

to take this completely off topic -
i actually liked the western version of 'the ring'. but it might have to do with the fact that i watched the original without subtitles. and we tried watching ju-on with very bad subtitles (pirate, arrr) and we ended up making jokes about the old woman and the stain on the carpet (ahaha, the maturity of 18yr old school girls)

but i'm sure team america will be a cult hit. it will attract the kevin smith fans who became suicidal after jersey girl. i probably won't be seeing it at the cinema, unless we uhh... get into the show... after watching a different one... ahem.

The American version of The Ring wasn't BAD...it just wasn't as good as the Japanese one. And yeah...it would be a little silly without subtitles. As would Ju-On...hehe.

Probably will be a cult smash...just doesn't strike me as being to my taste <shrugs>. Hmmm...yeah...spose I could do the whole sneaking into another show routine...but nahh...even that strikes me as too much effort

But in all honesty, I think the recent (like last season, or the one before) South Parks are hilarious. You're right Haz, they're great with social satire. I dunno, you say they're not funny anymore. But I think just the opposite.

I kinda got tired when they did the whole post 9-11 political shit...and I think the social satire is repetitive now...they need fresh material imho. And err...British humour? Like errr...Monty Python? Nuff said really.
