Ivan the Terrible
I've never been to Jamaica. Makes me wish I had, as I'm afraid there won't be much left after this...

I feel bad for you brad, two hurricanes in less than a month. It looks like my side of Florida is just going to get tropical storm winds again. These damn hurricanes are getting pretty annoying.

Yeah. From 1965-2003 one major hurricane (Andrew) hit the state of Florida. We are looking at three in roughly a month. This motherfucker may trump them all.

But isn't it supposed to go down to a category 4 after it hits Cuba? Either way, this is one big ass 'cane.

Yeah. It's projected to be a Cat 3 by the time it's due west of Tampa. Who knows?

Jesus, I hope you're okay. Three hurricanes in a month, my God.

It's supposed to weaken after going through Cuba, but in between Cuba and Flordia, it's supposed to strengthen back up again
Louie, hassel: Any property damage yet?

Tampa's dodged the major damage, but I fear our luck may be running out.
On the bright side, all of this hurricane hype, combined with the idiotic apathy shown by a few in letters to the editor, have planted the seeds for one of the 5 screenplays I have in the air. I'm a half full kind of guy.

Just pray...
Just pray that this one doesn't squeeze into the Gulf of Mexico to the west... If so, its on a one-way course to my front door (which it will promptly destroy because it is made of glass). The last major storm we had here was Allison, which flooded every part of Houston. I-10 was filled with 20 feet of water, and trucks were bobbing around the top. It was only after the water dissipated that people noticed the hundreds of cars that hadn't been floating...
Is anyone else here a Marlins fan? I've loved the Marlins since mid-last season, and I hope they beat the Astros out for the wild card. If Ivan rips up the south, the playoffs could really be postponed for awhile.

Yeah NY gets off pretty easy. We don't get scary natural disasters up here much. The last big thing was a tropical storm Floyd like 5 years ago, but I didn't live here then.

All this flood news reminds me that California is due for a major earthquake here pretty soon.
Good luck to those of you in Florida...I've been tuning in to the weather channel for a few minutes every day to see how y'all are doing. |

![]() That little tremble doesnt deserve to be called an earthquake. It was more like the earth having a stretch. We *do* however get the worst bushfires in the world, something which I have seen up close a number of times. When you feel the hairs on your legs start to burn away, its time to get moving. Naturally, I'm thinking about anyone in the path of this storm. Its a big fucker alright.

Times like this, I REALLY love England.
Isn't this your third hurricane in one month? All I can say is. Unlucky. |

The reason I've never had the pleasure of seeing East Maitland is that I was rudely awoken by a yobbo with a shotgun firing at my train as I went through Beresfield. Beresfield truly is the worst place in Australia.
