Not only is it sad that this kid is probably going to go to prison because his parents are morons, but the kid that was shot had been in a foster care center for abused and neglected children.

While I don't agree with hate crime legislation, secretly I think this kid should be sentenced to death by buggery. I don't like the connotation of "hate" crime simply because it runs counter to the whole, "created equal". If some skinhead robs a convenience store and shoots the white male clerk in the face, is that somehow less significant than him shooting a gay, black male clerk in the face? Killing another human being, unless you are a contract killer, pretty much involves "hate".
First degree, pre-meditated murder should be enough to send the kid to the gas chamber. Y'all still use that in California, right? If it's determined that his parents did nothing to prevent him from committing, or worse, encouraged him to commit this crime, then they should be charged as accessories.

This shit is fucked up for sure but I have several problems with it. One, most murders tend to be hate crimes and saying one kind of pre-meditated murder is worse than any other kind of bothers me.
Also, trying this child as an adult seems a bit retarded. This kid obviously couldn't deal with this situation. Because he is a child. Try him as a child.

I blame the parents. I say they should make the parents go to jail and send THEIR kid to a foster care center.

Seriously though, when I was in 8th grade, I didn't see myself as a child (I didn't need someone to cut my food and feed it to me). I could think for myself and had my own brain.

I also don't think just because the kids was gay makes the situation any worse than other murders, but it sure is a fucking sad thing to shoot someone over.
