I love Elmo for "Elmo nieuwe schoenen, Elmo nieuwe schoenen!" which I can replicate with reasonable skill to this day.
(Elmo has new shoes, Elmo has new shoes!) I don't know why, but it's stuck with me all these years and when I think of it now, it's just the cutest thing ever. Sadly, Elmo nieuwe schoenen isn't on YouTube, but this was and oh my god, cute. |

I'm watching Elmo on Rove Live now. I'm laughing like I'm four. Cheeky Elmo.
Among other things, he tells the presenter of this Aussie TV show that they're about the same size, not to say dickhead, he has a cute burp, he's looking for a girl, and he pretends to be Cookie Monster. HA! If that's not funny, I don't know what is. This one's particularly funny because Elmo is being really cheeky cause he is on a show for adults, and boy does he know it |

Yeah, Goosebumps. Jesus.
I'm afraid I have to agree with Ren here, Nickelodeon took a lot out of my time. I think I must've watched every show and game show they had at one time or another throughout the 1990s. I also remember watching The Box -- that music video channel -- anybody remember that one? Actually, I'm pretty happy those times are over. I look back at those days in utter embarrassment.

Y'all talking about all of these shows on Nickelodeon and such reminds me of something else that reminds me of childhood.
When the cable goes out and I can't pick up a decent channel. Growing up, the NBC and CBS affiliates were the only channels you could reliably pick up. ABC was hit or miss, depending on the weather. There was channel 44 which was simply a UHF broadcaster of old re-runs. Other than that, there were two PBS stations (WEDU and WUSF) which usually showed the same thing. Oh, and WEDU used to show Lawrence Welk on the weekends. My grandmother was a Welk-head.
