For now, I think theres going to be quite alot of pictures of flowers and assorted still life objects while I get used to the camera, then you'll see some crazy stuff.

Nice image quality. Very crisp shots, it's a nifty piece of kit no doubt.
Not sure about the subject matter but I think you already know that it's hardly the most awe-inspiring, but that's natural while you get used to the new camera. |

I'm not entirely sure how the background for the rose shots became blue, I think its due to the magic sunset light.

it feels kinda busy... if you increased that diagonal a bit from the dock you just might have it.
then again, i'm a low depth of field kinda girl. so maybe that's just your preference haha ... ACTUALLY, on second thought, i like it a LOT cropped like this: (don't hate me!)

Much better in Cara's cropped version. More artsy.

I like your version alot Cara, and I wish subscribe to your newsletter.
Initially I was trying to preserve the geometry that I saw in the scene, the sky is overexposed and distracting, but it was a studendously bright day. Converted it to black and white because in colour it looked washed out.

![]() I prefer the crop along these lines to retain the geometry of the staircase. Nice work.

Yeah I was thinking that too Brad, when I looked at it again. It's just the sky that's distracting, really, there's too much of it in the initial shot.
Your cropped version shows a little but not too much. |

i think there's still too much bright area at the top... your eye is naturally drawn to the lighter area of a picture, but the major subject area is in the lower section of the picture.
oh... and you should never have a diagonal come directly out of the corner... it just never works well. (unless you're ansel adams or something haha)

Some random pictures of fences and houses and doors and stuff to follow, the river + scenery didn't look particularly special today.
