England, here I come
Well, my girlfriend is spending 8 weeks in Africa this spring and has decided to stop in England for a week on the way home. This is the week after I graduate college (fingers crossed) and have decide to meet her there. So, I know there are several of you island dwellers on this site and figured I ask some advice. We are spending 3 days in london in a hotel and 3 days in Lowesoft with some of my girlsfriend extended family.
we are obviously going to hit the toursity shit in london, but was wondering if anyone had advice on what else to see. Any good pubs? good fish and chips? we probably wont have a car so i have no idea how mobile we will be when in lowesoft. public transportation doesn't exist that far out does it? thanks to all who can help

You should be able to see all the museums in London in a day, maybe less.

Fancyman, I'm from Norwich (which is in the same county as Lowestoft).
When I have time I'll fill you in on all the things to do around there! When you get to London then I'm sure Cliff, Ducks and Myself will be around to get you drunk. |

I admit that pubs and fish and chips are stereotypical but they are things we enjoy very much. Surely you will not pass up the oppurtunity to claim superiority in these fine things.
I would definately enjoy a close encounter of the kkw kind. I'll be in contact as the trip gets closer. Barrington, it is awesome that you are from that area because that is the part of the trip that is the most up in th air. I'm sure Jen's family will have entertainment plans, but we would definately appreciate input from someone our age. P.S. anyone know anything about English rugby? (jen plays)

If you're going to get fish and chips, instead of your crappy takeaway fish and chip shops, go to a decent pub and order 'beer battered cod with maris piper chips' or something equivilent.
What month would you be in England?

Well, I will be booking my flight within the next week or so, and I'm considering extending the trip 2 or 3 days. Is there anywhere in England that is an absolute must see? I like castles and shit and Arthurian legend if anyone knows anything about that it would be appreciated.

Because you're too poor to move? And because you'd hate to be in a 'european country'?

Really? I love Europe but perhaps it's the fact I don't live there that makes me love it. Anywhere but America for me.

I quite realize how lucky I am to live in a country of health and privilege but I hate it nonetheless. It's one of those "I feel as though I were meant for something else" things.
