Keira: I'm done with Pirates

Keira has announced she will not be filming any more POTC sequels once she films her final scenes on AWE today.

Keira Knightley has told producers on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean that she does not want to be involved in any more sequels of the movie franchise, after she wraps filming At Worlds End today. Of Elizabeth Swann Keira has said: "I've been playing this girl since I was 17. I'm 21 now and I'm onto very different things, but it's fun to try to invest Elizabeth with some rebellious spirit. "

anymore pirate movies.
I doubt johnny Depp would do
it either, He's not one for sequels.
But let them make a few movie bombs and lets see how they feel about doing another pirate movie.

its had a good run, a very good run for a pirate film.

but there are very few films that havnt got crap after the 3rd sequel.

the 3rd matrix, crap
the 3rd fast and furious, crap
the 3rd austin powers, not crap, but not as good as the first two
the 3rd american pie, crap
james bond... was doing ok... but after about number 19 started to get crap.
the 3rd blade... doing ok. but i wouldnt recommend making any more

I agree. I would be severely disappointed if they made any other films. I am slightly apprehensive about AWE anyway, but I reserve hopes that it will improve upon DMC, although that was alright. However, any more and I would lose all respect for them.

According to interviews, Keira has had to invest well
over 100 filming days in each of these movies not
including travel between London and LA. She does
not seem to lack film offers at this point in her career.
If she wanted she could do 2 films in the time invested
in a Pirates sequel. One thing to keep in mind, action
movies often dont allow for the best showcase for fine
acting abilities, or at least severly limit oscar type
opportunites. I think she is making a smart choice.
I suspect by the end of AWE we will all start getting tired
of even Jack Sparrow.

It'd be too one dimensional for her to continue with Pirates. Wait, wasn't Pirates supposed to be a trilogy anyway? Didnt know there were more sequels or is she anticipating more money grabbing?

...as too additional sequels, Disney has been kicking around the idea
of a pirates 4 sequel which does not even have a script yet. They
have been looking at this 4th installment even prior to the DMC
premier. Johny Depp was OK with a 4th pirates per media statement
around the august time period. As far as Ive read a 4th possible sequel
is as far ahead as Disney has claimed to be looking. It has been
noted however it would be a different adventure with Jack Sparrow
as AWE is supposed to have a fitting end to the characters current
situations.

I think the idea of sequels is the media and public assuming that Disney will do as Disney does, and see a money making scheme that could bring in a little more cash if the plot was stretched and squeezed until unrecognisable, and generally be detested by the universe. Don't get me wrong, I love Disney - they brought Captain Jack to the masses! But all the same, I think it's pretty much expected of them. But no, the direct answer to your enquiry is that it is basically just the trilogy of Pirates; certainly, to date.

On Paul Fisher's Keiraweb.com (AKA Knightleynews)
he has a link to an article with comments from
the 2 script writers for the pirates movies that
state that the Daily News article was false and
Miss Knightley had not made the "this is the last one"
statement.

Terry (one of the writers) denied that friday was her last day of shooting, but he didn't really comment on her supposedly telling the producers she wouldn't want to day any more sequels.
So apart from getting the schedule wrong the story in The Daily Mail could still be true.

Actually, pap snaps of Keira arriving at Heathrow on Sunday just surfaced a few hours ago....
So she may, in fact, really be done filming Pirates 3.

I wish this last sequel would just end it. I wouldn't want to see a POTC movie without Keira in it, wouldn't be the same.

I really don't think Terry would lie about something like this so she probably isn't quite done yet.
But perhaps Baz Bamigboye knew she'd be going back this weekend and just incorrectly assumed it was the end. Or maybe she was originally scheduled to finish now.

yeh i dunno...everyone's great in the movie's but the ONLY one who is really holding it all together is obviously jack/johnny but if they killed someone off it'd be really weird, people like me would be crushed, lol and yet it'd have a big effect on the films and everything would change if keira or orlando died, i reckon it'd get better and more would want to c them...hmmm:icon_err:

This reminds me of the 2nd and 3rd Matrix movie which were also filmed
at the same time. The 2nd movie set up the third and the third bombed
mostly because two of the main characters were killed off in it. I should
think this was only a tabloid rumor, and Disney's writers are much too
smart to make that mistake. While watching a movie we build up an
emotional attachment to the characters however slight it may be.
When a character is killed off that we have empathized with or rooted
for it usually means very bad box office sales. I dont see them killing
off Orlando, Keira, of Johnny's characters. If Keira was not willing to be
in any future versions, it would be more prudent to go in a different
direction where the audience assumes her Miss Swann is no longer part
of the story but still happily alive somewhere. Example: Indiana Jones
and a different leading lady in each movie.

No he isn't, but he has said he would play Jack Sparrow in twenty more sequels if they gave him the chance because he loves Jack so much.
