Alternate Internet Browsers

Does anyone use a browser other than Internet Explorer?

What are the best options?

I just Updated to IE 7 . . . it sucks so bad

Anyone know if it is possible to revert back to 6.0?

Firefox is very popular browser, and it works just fine.

I cannot believe that people are happy to use Internet Explorer, though not being aware of alternatives is a good excuse. I invite anyone to use Firefox for a week... you'll never ever, ever go back to MSIE.

There was once a time when I was using opera or netscape...
Unsurprisingly I felt right at home with the Mozilla powerhouse.

Firefox's a memory hog.. leave it open for too long and it's Mem Usage rockets up... Been home for nearly 2 hours with it open: 110,860K... The security on it is worth the memory usage I guess.. But for a regular user who just looks at entirely safe sites, well-respected news websites etc, don't see why IE isn't enough.

Why would you look at entirely safe sites, well-respected websites? What a waste of the internet!
And from what I remember, IE was a resource hog too.

I'm hoping that the new version of firefox will be a bit more memory friendly, but having 2gb of ram solves a large number of problems.

In my usage, IE hasn't been as much a resource hog by far. Try it yourself, open up both, then walk away. Firefox will start off using more resources and will extend the gap by a ridiculous amount fairly soon.

But yes, with 2gb of RAM you don't really care about much huh... Damn my 512. Damn my other computer which is only 256.

Firefox > IE. Period.
I don't really worry with "resource hogging" because I close the browser when I'm not at my desk. IE is like a fucking black hole for viruses, sucking everything that even gets near the computer in. I swear to God, sometimes it seemed like there was an "Actively Seek Out Viruses, Spam and Everything Else Nefarious" box that I forgot to unclick.

The one time I used internet explorer for something, because some website didn't want to work on firefox, my computer got flooded with the kind of adware that pops up in your notification area telling you that you need to download their program to get rid of adware. The type which randomly opens up tens of ie windows. And having experienced it, it is an absolute bugger to get rid of.

Internet Explorer not recommended.

I've never noticed any resource hogging going on with firefox. I recently downloaded Firefox 2 Beta 2 and it seems to be pretty nice. Same ol' Firefox with added features that make it a little easier to browse. Still no slowdown for me though.
