Oh come on, I said The Vines were great :P Dyce, just because some of the band members are unknown doesn't mean they aren't overrated. I've heard some people describe N.E.R.D as a combination of rock and RnB which I do not believe.

The Darkness...too good for words.
The streets...it isn't about singing, it's about lyrical poetry and breaking genres...The Streets are avante garde. Oasis...meh...marginally over-rated but a fucking good band...and what's wrong with wanting to be the Beatles for fuck's sake? One of the best bands of all time...emulating them is supposed to be a good goal Only thing I can agree with there is pop...although...no let's not. I personally think Funeral for a Friend are actually eally over-rated in indie circles...they're not even that good. Franz Ferdinand and Muse, however...top choices. Hardly call either, given the hype around them at the moment, under-rated though. |

Muse?
I've never even heard of Muse, but everyone seems to talk about them a lot.
Where are they from?

England.
MUSE I'm seeing them in concert on 15th August...can't bloody wait. They are totally underrated here in the states...I've heard them..twice on tv...a music video on MTVU and they played Time Is Running Out in the background of some show on VH1 a few weeks ago. |

Yasunori Mitsuda is one of the greatest composers of our time, but he has little recognition outside of the gaming community. Find some of his stuff sometime, it's incredible. He's a genius, in my opinion, a true genius.

Alrighty...I was replying to someone from the UK who said Muse were under-rated...I accept they're under-rated internationally, but I don't buy that they are here...they're huge.
Secondly...I can't believe I forgot them...Bush. They're a UK band from London, and yet they're bigger in the states than they are here...most people over here have never heard of them, and yet most people I've asked about them online from the states do know of them (even if they don't like them per se). Whether that's being under-rated or just a strange quirk, I'm not sure, just interesting...to broaden the scope of this discussion...anyone else think of a band that's big outside of its native country and relatively unheard of back home? |

I think The Vines aren't known much in Australia. I mean people may have heard of their name, but don't really know much about thier music. They left Sydney, Australia a few years ago which might account for them known better overseas...
And about Muse, yeah I've only heard of their song Time is Running Out on the radio. They placed Hysteria for a while as the follow-up single, but it wasn't very successful and was soon scratched off the playlist.

Yes, Badly Drawn Boy is under-rated. Good call, Rider.

The Monkees?
Um, weren't they a purely fictional "pop-band" that lip-synched and pretended to play instruments?
