Question for you English Types....
All right, you sons of a silly person....
Who among you has seen the Keira movie "Pure"? In case you haven't, there are a bunch of clips from it at www.keiraweb.com (http://www.keiraweb.com/pure3.wmv is my favorite). My question for you is this: what kind of accent is Keira speaking with? AND, does she do it well? As a dumb American, I am not in a position to judge this. So....Anyone? |

It's not that different from her Bend It.. accent, IMO. It's set in East London so it should be a (fairly) typical East London accent, similar to Ray Winstone's or Bob Hoskins'. There are different dialects of the London accent which are indistinguishable to people outside the area (like me). Only a Londoner could decide whether Keira's accent was spot on for an East Ender or not :-)

It's verging more into Essex than East End, Romford... that sort of caper.
It sounds too weird hearing her try to do accents. |

I second what Baz says. It's a bit too strong to be East London, it's more Essex. A lot of people get the two mixed up because they're so close to each other, and people in East London are actually often from Essex originally. Obviously job prospects are better in London than Essex so it draws a lot of them, especially as it's so local.
It's a shit accent either way. Accent in Bend It Was better as it was more West London (Hounslow) which isn't too far from where she's from herself (Teddington). Pretty close, in fact. |
