well i told barrington id write a review once i got round to watching it.
just watched it, heres what i think of it. The starts pretty sketchy, i liked the bit when she was playing with the nunkucks (sp?) her brief history had its amusing bits, the gun fights were imo rather bland, that crazy woman should have been shot, and mobile network coverage would have saved a lotta pain. the second / third story well, i personally thought it was rather lame. the only thing that i felt was good in this film was the relationship between the 3 main characters, they bonded well and you enjoyed their company. funniest bit? the tv truck boom! alf is slightly nuts.... worst bit? keiras narration over everything.... score? pfffft errrr 2/5 maybe 3/5 because you get to briefly see keira naked??? does that count?? |

Domino will be out on DVD on Feb 6th (Region 2 Europe) and Feb 14th (Region 1 North America). Usual featurettes and trailers, but no Keira commentary (surprisingly).

I took the liberty to merge your new Domino thread into this one that already existed
Haven't seen Domino yet - instead I found myself at the cinema tonight with a sold out Harry Potter 4 and a bitching and moaning sister. Isn't life grand? |

After my cheerleader daughter had been mistreated on the High School Football Team's bus, I had her transferred to a private (gated) school. During the first Winter Break I took her to Mexico so we could camp out on the beach and try to talk. I believed that she didn't need to be around the people who were involved in the incident on the School Bus, and that she couldn't avoid seeing them.
In Mexico we ran into the nicest couple. We were camped out on the beach and a huge storm came up. They invited us to spend the night in their cabin. We did, and got into long conversations with them. The man was/had been (If you can believe the story, and there were thousands of clues that the stories were true...) The man had been the chauffeur for a Mafia Boss back in the states and was in hiding down in Mexico. Story after story told of a life very similar to the story of "Domino"... If this man had written books about some of the things he'd seen, he would have given my hero "Travis McGee" (John D MacDonald's broken Lochinvar) a run for his money. And Domino sounds and feels like one of his stories. Then you add in the really exceptional Cinematographical Style, this movie is fantastic! When you enter a "fantasy world," the light changes, things "move at the speed of the fantasy." When you are going through a story, the author tells it his way. It is not reasonable for an author to be forced to tell his/her story in the same way it happens in the physical world. This film is a piece of genius. If you have a good "fantasy life" you will enjoy being able to switch back and forth between what you think happened and what you realize is actually happening. Spoiler:Of course there was never a shootout between a swat team and two different Mafia Gangs that took out the "Top of the World" in Las Vegas; but if there were, it might have looked like it was portrayed. Then, on the "Bonus Features" you meet the real people that lived through however much of the story was true. I almost see the man I met down on that beach north of Acapulco explaining how it was almost like that... Keira WAS Domino. The accent matched, the way she walked, talked, and thought. Clearly she was the one in charge. And when you see her standing beside Domino Harvey on the bonus tracks, and all the time you've heard that Domino Harvey was a tall runway model (and there is a picture there of a really beautiful Domino Harvey) when you see them standing together, Keira is taller. And then there was Tom Waits music, his singing, and even his appearance in that old Cadillac Convertible. If I wanted to have someone sing about my life, there are not a lot of people better than Tom Waits to do it. If you like the technically impossible Cinematography, you'll love this movie as I do. Keira Shines!

The sad thing about Domino is that the film's style is so over-the-top, and the story so ridiculous, that Miss Knightley's truly GOOD performance will never be acknowledged....
I don't care what the assholes say -- she was fucking GREAT in Domino. It's unlike anything other performance she's ever given. |

oh how everyone hated domino! I don't care!
It was a wonderful movie... IN several ways, Keira's BEST work! She is unstoppable, and I have to say, everyone who says it is bad because of plot holes, etc. can kiss off because that is what makes a movie interesting. If you are watching movies, you should have some imagination! Keira makes the best bad-ass nosebreaker bounty hunter ever! and as for what Domino really looks like, ummm how did she make it into modeling??? just an honest question!

I loved Domino. Not just because of Keira, but because of the style of the film. The editing was great.
