Hope you're having a speedy recovery gracie
I recently bought my first stuido quality microphone for recording. It's not quite set up with my computer yet, but here are some shots. It's a Rode NTK. Taking it to the shop I got it from today and those lovely boys are going to set it up for me on my pc. |

I thought you'd like the shirts!
The bird one is actually on sale right now, so if you're looking for a cheap band shirt i would suggest that one. It's 12 bucks. And what's that second album? Today I bought 52 dollars worth of movies. But it was worth it. |

The last three are great, as we all know. I haven't seen the other two.

Arctic Monkey's album Whatever People Say, That's What I'm Not. Truth: It's not one of my absolunte favorites, but it works. I also bought the Walk the Line Soundtrack and it's really good. It's like listening to Cash, but not at the same time. Good stuff.
Edit: Jake, nice job on Casablanca. I have to 2 disc collectors set. It's just an amazing movie

Today - peanut butter M&Ms - speckled eggs & Biore deep-cleansing face wash.
Yesterday - a electronic guitar toy thingy that makes LOTS of noise for my newphew's third b-day which is coming up on 4/3/06 (I guess it would be 3/04/06 for the Brits...right???)...somehow I know I'll just regret it since I live with him and he LOVES making noise with his toys. I swear he will be a musical genius once we get him on real insturments. Last week - two shirts for my nephew from Old Navy (one for Easter one for his b-day),a pair of pinstripe pants for me, and a new long-sleeved collared shirt for me. Old Navy is DANGEROUS...must stay away.

Gaw! Nicely done, Liam.
Did you buy it from an online retailer, or from a shop near home? I am also going to buy an axe this summer, and I was looking into musiciansfriend.com... I'm thinking maybe or ![]()

Bought it on clearance, brand new at Dixons of all places for 360 quid. Which is over 1/3 original retail, 1/2 current retail. The flash I bought at a different dixons for 1/4 retail price. You gotta love clearance sales due to Sony swallowing up Konica Minolta.

To answer the questions:
I found the guitar online at a stockist of rare guitars (its almost impossible to get a Flying-V in such condition, let alone brand new, unless you order one from the factory) and made the trip down to southern Sydney to pick it up. If I were you, out of the two guitars you showed, I'd take the Epiphone. My dad used to play in a gigging band and had an Ibanez bass for a while, and he said it was the worst instrument he ever had. My guitar is an Epiphone-Gibson, like the top one you posted. Honestly, its best to get one from a store rather than online - that way you can ask to hear the guitar played (make sure it doesnt have a bad action or buzzy strings) before you make a decision. I didn't get a black one cause its the cheaper model with shitty pickups. My one has proper Gibson humbuckers on it, and the sound is amazing. Its a bit light on for really heavy metal work without some sort of effects system between the guitar and amp but its fine for Metallica-style stuff. Amon Amarth is out until I can get a booster or something for it.

Yeah my buddy said he's unsure about Ibanez. He wants me to go Gibson, but I think I'll settle with Epiphone. A Gibson is definitely a quality guitar, and I'd WANT one, but I wouldn't want to drop an extra 400 dollars for one. Especially since I'm only a hobbyist.
I was planning on going to a guitar shop and playing around with the models I saw online, and see if I can talk the shop owner down to the online price... or just buy the one I like online. I tried judging by the customer reviews but they can be vague and contradictory. "The 6e buzzes on the 12th fret" "All crisps sounds though, absolutely perfect!". Never trust people.
