Superman Returns is my 2nd favorite comic book movie of all time, right behind Batman Begins.
btw, I'm now officially psyched for a Spider-Man movie. The teaser for Spidey 3 was awesome.

The Masters of Horror thing looks really B-list to me whenever I see it at work. It was only in the past few days that I realized it was Carpenter direction one of them.
Last night I watched Bubba Hotep. It was weird. I mean, I liked it, but it was weird. JFK had some funny moments.

I'll have to check out The Masters of Horror soon. Those films are right up my alley.
Bubba Ho-Tep, for me, in two weeks...

Not a movie, but a Making-Of:
Making-Of "The Untouchables" (Sean Connery, Kevin Costner, Robert De Niro etc.)

Watched Hotel Rwanda this morning. Don Cheadle is a hell of an actor. I didn't think the movie was nearly as good as he was in it. Joaquin Phoenix and Nick Nolte seemed to mail in their performances. Neither character was very convincing, nor were any of the characters, save for Cheadle's (I'm not even going to attempt that last name). The writing wasn't that good either.
Gregoire was too flat. He stops working and drinks beer. Then he seems to have a change of heart, especially after seeing the bodies in the road. He sees Paul helping people and it seems like maybe he's been softened, but instead, goes straight out and betrays him. Nacho Libre was funny. I kind of felt like I needed to laugh after Hotel Rwanda. Not terribly funny, but funny enough just because of the sheer ridiculousness of it. Saw the preview for Talladega Nights. That looks like it's going to be funny as hell. I laughed louder at that than I did Nacho Libre.

Clive Owen totally banged everyone in that flick. That's a good movie. He'd make a good Two-Face in a Batman movie.

I saw Superman Returns. Now if only I came earlier enough to get a seat that didn't have a random ledge in front blocking 1/5 of the screen, I would've been happier. But as for the movie, it was decent. It was missing something. Or maybe it was too long. It was around 2.5 hours, I think. Ah, I don't know. I know I should've watched the earlier Superman films, that's for sure. I think I missed out on some key references. Overall, 3/4 stars.

And I must say that the accent of Sean Connery was pretty amusing, although it was sometimes incomprehensible

On a lighter note...and splendidly on topic...I watched Dodgeball for the first time all the way through last night. Funny. Not Wedding Crashers or 40 Year Old Virgin funny, but still a really funny film. Vince Vaughn is such a master of the subtle little asides that make even the not-laugh-out-loud funny moments, funny.

I thought Superman was pretty awesome. I'd like to see it again without the 3-D parts, though. They were alright, but it was kind of annoying.

Crash is on Showtime tonight at 8, and for those interested, tonight at 10 on Showtime Too they are showing "A Love Song for Bobby Long," my second favorite Scarlett Johansson movie.
I saw Superman. Yeah, yeah, cool stuff. But "Devil Wears Prada" is probably my new favorite movie. |
