In the past few days I've seen a few movies. I'll report them now:

Night Watch (Nochnoy Dozor) - This movie was awesome. It was a perfect blend of action and suspense and awesome and badass and vampires. I mean, Others, even though they're basically vampires. Leaves it open for a sequel, and the director is working on not one but two, so it should be interesting. Definitely reccommend this one. It comes out on video this Tuesday.

The Baxter - Brought to you by my homeslice Michael Showalter. You know him as Coop in Wet Hot American Summer (He co-wrote and co-directed that one). I enjoyed this movie to great extents. It's not a uber-comedy like WHAS, but it's still got some laughs in it. It's more of a solid story.

UltraViolet - This movie was a piece of shit.

Wet Hot American Summer is like, my fucking life. I love that movie.

Swords...was Ingmar Bergman's The Seventh Seal. There's been several spoofs of it, including the Bill & Ted one where they play Battleship and other games instead of Chess.

I watched Unleashed today which has Jet Li and Morgan Freeman, and Freeman played a blind-man. The movie was HAL-ARIOUS! It just had a big cheesy story and Jet Li was sooo very asian. The best fight was with a tall white guy, and he was wearing a pear of sketchers.

The fight was very goofy. At one point he punches Jet Li through a door and you shit your pants in laughter. You wouldn't expect a ninja to wear sketchers. Jet Li was a very sterotypical Asian, in the movie.

Well you know, there's a reason the only karate films one needs to watch (or should watch) -- are the one's with Bruce Lee in them. Second to Bruce Lee is Jackie Chan -- mainly because he's aiming for humor. And like Bruce Lee, he does his own fighting and stunts. The celluloid for Jet Li's movies ought to be sold as crapper paper. Nothing against the guy, but there's something wrong if you're a "kung-fu" star and you need wires to execute flying kicks.

But back on topic, I'm addicted to this pair of dvds.

Mike Matteo wrote the original screenplay for this and had it butchered by the director. Mike is the guy teaching the screenwriting class I'm taking.
Had they stuck to the script, this would have been much better.

I hate to take it back off topic. Saying that Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan films are the only good martial arts movies is just a dumb statement. Shaolin Vs. Wu Tang is my favorite martial arts film and there's no Lee or Chan. And are you also saying that movies made by Carter Wong aren't any good? I do not like you Sundance.

I wasn't saying Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan films are the only good martial art movies. But I'll remain on point by saying they star in the only great ones.

SHAOLIN VS. WU TANG is a good picture and Carter Wong is skilled at martial arts. But if we're talking about quality, the pictures Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan have made are on a whole other level -- both from a physical stand-point but perhaps more importantly, a cinematic stand-point.

Not everybody likes kung-fu movies. But to someone who's a novice, interested in the genre, their taste could get soured by watching a picture like UNLEASHED for instance. That is why I said if one needed to watch a kung-fu picture, they should catch one of Bruce Lee's or Jackie Chan's.

well uh... i saw tokyo drift today.

as usual the actual plotline sucked, but the cars were @#!$#ing amazing. and there were a few hot people too (not so much the main character tho. bleh. his "japanese" friend was hot tho.)

there were so many koreans in there that they tried to pass off as japanese. what the hell? do they think we're retarded and can't see???

okay anyways that was my rant.

I watched Amadeus, this was brillant, the laughter was ridiculous (at least in the French Version), but I guess it was meant to be so.

I watched Dave Chappelle's Block Party, today. Great movie with great artists and jokes, and it's just a good time. I was totally unaware of some of artists in it and then the Fugees came on and my head exploded.

I just watched Syriana. The movie was very very good. I think it's one of the best roles i've ever seen George Clooney or Matt Damon in. Their acting was fantastic too, i actually forgot that it was George Clooney at one point. About half way through i wasn't very sure if i liked the movie that much because i got thrown off by a guy with a hook for an arm. I was confused the entire movie until the last ten minutes and then everything fell together and it was great.
