It's a poem, I believe. An epic.

I've always been intrigued by the book. It sounds very funky indeed, but have never once picked up a copy... The fact that Dante has become a name synomynous with hell (Devil May Cry, anybody?) and the such is quite notable, too.

the divine comedy is fantastic... Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso (Dante's Trips through Hell, Purgatory and Heaven..) Inferno is still my favorite. very heavy reading though... you should try reading the original old italian version... or not... i tried it... and gave up...

I don't get why he called his series The Divine Comedy. It's not much of a comedy.........

It is not a comedy in the modern sense of making you laugh, but of the classical sense in that it starts tragically (Inferno) and ends happily (Paradiso).

I took a test.
The Dante's Inferno Test has sent you to Purgatory! Here is how you matched up against all the levels: Level | Score Purgatory | Very High Level 1 - Limbo | Moderate Level 2 | Low Level 3 | Moderate Level 4 | Very Low Level 5 | Moderate Level 6 - The City of Dis | Very Low Level 7 | Low Level 8- the Malebolge | Moderate Level 9 - Cocytus | Very Low Level descriptions: http://www.4degreez.com/misc/dante-i...formation.html Take the test: http://www.4degreez.com/misc/dante-inferno-test.mv |

I picked up a copy of The Divine Comedy yesterday, and I'm up to Inferno IV. Excellent stuff... Thanks for the extra interest inducing nudge towards getting it!
