As always there's tons of conflicting reports about whether Keira's signed for it or not yet. It seems like she has though. I read on another website that whatever the film sites are saying the title is, it can't be or it'll infringe copyright or something like that. I think that was on keiraweb...

Whatever, I'm really looking forward to this, as Pirates was one of my two favourite Keira films, the other being Bend it like Beckham, (the tank top!

In Aus Rolling Stone magazine it says how Keith Richard has been "tapped" to play cpt. Jacks dad, however it also says that the title is called "treasures of the lost abyss" and rolling stone magazine are lying assholes who don't know what the fuck they're talking about anyway so never trust what they say (sorry, im still bitter with them for having David Gilmour no. 82 in they're best 100 guitarists list)

All web sites, including mine and the one linked to above, have been emailed and asked to remove the DMC subtitle from their pages. The email came from a marketing company attached to Buena Vista (the worldwide distributor for the sequel). Read into that what you will, but considering the writers apparently 'officially announced' the subtitle at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood last Wednesday, it's a very curious turn of events. Ted and Terry know about the importance of keeping genuine details under wraps so why the announcement and then the backtrack ?

However, I don't fancy seeing the inside of an American courtroom so I've removed the info !

It's OK, I wasn't getting at you, Frodo - I thought it was legit, too. In fact, I think it still is, or at least was. I didn't get any emails about the Lost Abyss rumours, so there's got to be something in this DMC thing. I definitely think somebody's said something they shouldn't have. I've replied to the email I received asking exactly what this company does for Buena Vista and why the big rush to eliminate the name, so we may get more details on Monday.

I know I'll probably not have many (if any) like-minded people on this subject, but I'll say it all the same and take the castigation that is sure to follow...

As much as I love POTC (it is, afterall, a genuine classic whether it was with or without Keira) I feel that it's one of those films that just don't warrant a sequel. Yeah, I feel that because I don't want the original to spoilt- but it's a lot more than that.

I don't really want to find out what happens next- Barbossa and his cursed crew were punished and got what was coming to them, and there isn't much more. So- a little Elizabeth or Will junior? No thanks, that'll only make the sequel(s) veer into pure saccharine kiddie-stuff. Or maybe another daring mission by Jack and Will? Err... I feel like the first movie was just the right dose, thanks...

I could go on, but my basic point is: I do like the characters enough to enjoy the fact that there's a happy ending, but I don't want another story about them.

Pick up what you will from the above, but remember it's just my point of view.

the end of the first one really seemed to close the book on potc

lets just hope that some good writing can make it enjoyable

i dun care. i just need any excuse to see keira again and also i can't get enuff of jack sparrows. the new one will see Chow Yun Fatt (of Anna and the King and The Replacement Killers fame) making an appearance and that to me is exciting
