The premiership is a pile of tosh nosh. It's just full of money and I think it is over rated. But if it was a life or death situation, I'd say chelsea.

Edit: My favourite player would be Frank Lampard. Although I like Ronaldo. Erm, but Rooney is lovely.

Arsenal

Henry

'nuff said.

If you don't believe Henry to be the most dominant player in the English game today, then we got a discussion.

Currently in the Premiership, there is no one single player that can truly terrorize the opponent and cause fear through the bench of the opposing team. Even at 26, he has all the skills and talent necessary to carry a team into 'good' status; but with Arsenal, they achieved immortality by going through the entire season undefeated. He can do it all (although his heading skills have never been appreciated).

The only person I could see in similarity would be Barry Bonds in baseball. The opposing team see those two characters and approach each game, trying to neutralize them. Still, Bonds will get his home runs, and Henry will get his goals. And especially if with Arsenal, if one team attempts to stop Henry, they still have Pires, Vieira, Ljungberg, Reyes, Bergkamp, etc. to deal with. He's just the big cog in the machine that are the Gunners.

Lampard and Ronaldo will certainly be great players in the years to come, especially Ronaldo. But they aren't as dominant in each game as Henry is. Every Arsenal game, Henry is on the spotlight, the PFA Player of the Year two years running (and if he's not European or World Footballer of the Year next year, then I just don't see it), and he still finishes. Lamps is turning into the key man for Chelsea, who will need him in the coming season, what with the in/out-flux of players. Ronaldo will also need to step up and deliver what Manchester need to do - get out of the London duo's shadows. (Of course, what with their current squad, they cannot match man-for-man against either Chelsea or Arsenal.)

DR as usual is a savvy observer of our game. Henry is the single most dominant player to ever grace the Premiership...yes...even compared to the legendary Cantona...no other player inspires as much fear in the opposition as Henry...and there's more to come from him. He can carry any team to success...but with the players at Arsenal and hopefully a couple of new arrivals this summer, truly great things will happen...mark my words...he's just that good.

If Henry doesn't win the World/European Player of the Year next year it's a travesty...it's a bloody crime is what it is. Even Ronaldinho doesn't quite compare...the only reason Zidane and Nedved beat him out this time round was because last season was included...and even then I don't see why Zidane was there as he hasn't played well in 2 years...Nedved's a different story, however, and Juve clearly missed him in the CL final the season before last...and that's why he got the award.

Lampard is the cog upon which Chelsea will run...if they can hold on to him...he's ESSENTIAL...and certainly their player of the year. Bridge, Terry and Lampard will be essential to any Chelsea success...

As for Ronaldo...he needs to develop maturity and stop with the overly flamboyant stuff...but he's shown with Portugal since the first Greece game that he has got another level to step up to...and he's shown signs of real maturity. IF he continues...he'll be an amazing player...but he's still not the player that Rooney is now...heck he's not even the player Reyes is now...although he may one day surpass both of them. Personally I see Reyes as being even better than Henry and even more dominant than Thierry.

Even for all his ability...in his best game of the tournament against England he was snuffed out by Ashley Cole...so as an Arsenal fan I'm more that confident that he won't be enough by himself to really hurt us...I actually think if you discount Liverpool next season you're a fool...they may well be Arsenal's nearest rivals with the best coach in Europe in charge of them (yes, Benitez is better than Mourinho...Benitez won the Spanish title, the hardest league in Europe, twice in three years whilst selling his best players to make ends meet...amazing...and a UEFA Cup...Mourinho fluked his way to a Champions League and won a poor Portuguese league). Let's not also forget how lethal Owen and Baros could well be as a partnership...with Cisse to come off the bench...amazing...

That said...Arsenal will take some stopping...Wenger is getting better and better and his team has a real togetherness now...a few well placed purchases and we'll cement our place as Champions I'm sure...

Arsenal I agree with people saying Henry being the most dominant player. Without him Arsenal would, I think, go down the holes, unless the other players, Pires, Ljundberg can pass to someonelse to shoot goals.

Well so far on this thread I've seen a lot of Arsenal bias, but I won't let that deter me just yet. For those of you who don't know I'm a Manchester United supporter, have been since I can remember, being from Manchester it was the natural choice. In recent years Arsenal have begun to dominate but I think their fans are getting a little carried away due to last years acheivement and are being too quick to right off United, a bad thing from past experiences.

Since the Premiership started United have not lost it in consequtive years, what does that tell you? Last year was a bad year for us, off field and on, butI think the overconfidence of Arsenal and Chelsea could prove their downfall. With another years experience under the belt of our younger squad members plus the added drive disappointment brings I feel we are in better position by far this season than last.

Aquisitions wise I'm not so sure how good they will prove to be. Smith , Heinze and Miller, the main signings so far and Pique all have the potential to be great players but like last season they aren't great players yet and this could prove to be a settling in season for them, much like it was last season for our new players. The transfer window still remains open and as always United are being linked with many players, including Rooney, which in my opinion won't happen.

If squads stay the same and no big injuries to key players occur I see the table probably finishing in the same order as last year for the top 5, which pains me to say, but I think the gaps between everyone will be a lot smaller, everyone will be out to beat Arsenal much like teams were in the 90's with United, every little bit helps.

I can definitely see the same top of the table as last year, but I think Liverpool will be much more dangerous than last year. Regardless of whoever are their first-team strikers - two among the choices of Owen, Baros, and Cisse - all three will have chips on their shoulders to perform. Owen, because of his down year, Baros to prove his time with the Czech team is indicative of his club play, and Cisse to prove his worth to his first big-name team. And remember, the Reds defeated Chelsea and United in the latter part of the season.

United's new pickups will definitely bring in new blood, but I don't think they have what it takes to make it tops next season. Their form last year was rather humdrum, almost mediocre, compared to the play of Arsenal or Chelsea. Of course, we might see Ronaldo blossom into the young, classy player that United need.

If United got a central midfielder of the calibre of a Vieira or a former Keane we would challenge all the way, its the only area we are really lacking in experience , and is the most important part of any team.

That's exactly it...if you'd got Gerrard...that'd be it...or Gattuso if you can get him...but Xabi Alonso has already gone to Real Madrid

I think Arsenal don't really NEED to make many more acquisitions to RETAIN, simply to build in terms of Europe and the Cups...I'm sure the gap won't be as big, but c'mon...an 11 point gap is a big one to bridge in one season.

I see it being a lot closer...Arsenal champions, Chelsea runners up, Liverpool third and United fourth...but watch out for United in the 2005/2006 season for sure...never write off United...NEVER...the big problem for United is, however, that Chelsea can match them off the pitch money-wise and Arsenal are already in the position to win...it's up to OTHERS to take us down. I think with a few acquisitions we'll be solid as a rock.

I don't think we'll be able to have a decade of dominance like United, but that's simply as there are 4 really big clubs that will all be in with a shot of winning the title in the coming years...but there are big things to happen at Arsenal in the coming years. For us...a team that has never had the big name of Liverpool or United...we're content with the success we're getting. We're consistent...and winning stuff...it's all good.
