Videogames
Something a little more vague than the Handheld and Sims threads, methinks. Anyhoo, I'd like keep this as the place to discuss the truckload of games we'll be playing for the rest of 2004. That way we keep Frodo from posting a bajillion Halo 2 threads about how the game suckled his penis and whatever other crap he comes up with.
Anyway, I rented GTA: San Andreas because I heard good things from good people. Well, I can tell you this: For one, the game is really huge. A ton of area to cover in this game, although most of it is the same house or stretch of dirt over and over, with the occasional landmark. Secondly, it's not that fresh. It feels just like the other 3D GTA games, only this time it's been wrapped in ghetto culture, which I'm not overly fond of. I'm forcing myself to keep playing this game, because I'd like to get my $6 out of it. Oh, and the graphics still look like hairy ass. And the hit detection is retarded in spots. And the physics engine is embarassing. It does have really good voice-acting though, with some cameos by Samuel L. Jackson and David Cross (w00t!). The radio stations are even worse than Vice City, with only one rock station. It sounds like I'm just really ragging on this game, but it's not a horrible game overall, just the same ol' GTA. The new additions they added to make it feel fresh are quite lame. Swimming is dull, having to eat food is just an annoyance, and the tweaked targetting system is a bit too simple. As in you'll target things you don't want just as often as you'll target what you do want to attack. Unless you're a white ghetto-wannabe or a Sony cock-lover like CFC (jab jab), save your money for something else. Like MGS3, which is already being called the best PS1/PS2 game ever, and better than Halo 2. Truth!

I've only tried the old GTA 3, and I must say, I was disappointed. I like GTA2 better. It was simple, violent and not very well done. But it ROCKED. No. 3 is just like another lame 3D game. It doesn't have the charm.

Rome Total War was ok. I thought it was kinda easy, but it was entertaining.
I'll comment on GTA: SA after I have some time to actually play it.

Seriously, I just got my new OXM magazine, which reviewed BOTH Halo 2 and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. It takes great balls for me to say this but here goes: after playing a preview build of PoP, it looks like it will be BETTER than Halo 2. I mean it, it does everything right, with great additions to combat, exploration, and hot women who want to kill you. Hell, even an early boss fight was intense. I'm still getting Halo 2, and found out a shit-load of secrets, which I will not utter here, unless asked(don't worry, it won't ruin the plot) oh, btw, GTA

San Andreas won't "suck". They aren't bad games and it's just one of few titles that proves graphics don't have to be perfect for you to enjoy the game. ANND, Spire and I already saw the 15 pages Halo 2 thing...before you...for free. *Rubs it in*

yeah, it will suck, read what Spire said. *rubs it off*, like I said, mail is fucking slow on Air Force Bases, screening everything like 20 times ever since 9/11.

It doesn't suck, it's just got the same problems the others do and, for me, the GTA formula is old. If you've never played a GTA game before, you'd probably enjoy it.
