Agreed, I have not seen much of it but what I have has been brilliant. Anyone watch how I met your mother?

Yep. Very close second, but Barney is no Sheldon.

Most true thing I've heard today, for sure!
And I love How I Met Your Mother too, but BBT still wins!

Sheldon is - easily - one of the best TV characters ever created.
I don't really watch anything at the moment. Oh, except Glee. The world stops for Glee, lol. |

Oh no, say it ain't so. Actually, if I'm honest, it looks rather funny, but I refuse to watch any show with singing in it as I'm sick of all this HSM spin-off shit.
HSM is the worst abomination known to man, so why people think it's a great idea to spin off concepts from it into other outlets, be they TV shows or films, is beyond me. Well, actually, it's not, it's great business and makes them lots of money. But I'm still not watching. Besides, they ruined Journey. Yes, I'll refuse to watch shows on principle, even if they look good. Like 30 Rock. I can't stand Fey's politics, so I don't watch it, even though it looks funny. |

Oh god I hate HSM too. I tried watching the third one last year to have a laugh at it. I couldn't even laugh because it was so horrible! Ugh sorry but I just hate it with passion!

Treme - New HBO show by the makers of the Wire. About life in New Orleans after Katrina. Sublime television.
The Pacific - HBO again. Hanks/ Spielberg again. Brilliant. Again. Justified - US Marshal solves crimes, shoots bad guys. What more do you want? Great acting and writing you say? It's got that too. Fringe - Silly but awesome. P.S. Anna Torv. Future wife material. |

Also watching The Pacific. Dare I say it, it's better than BOB, at least so far.
Anna Torv is gorgeous. Thought so when I saw her in Mistresses. Yet to watch Fringe, though, as it does seem rather silly. But if it's good enough for Ducky... |

Fringe has gotten way better.
As for Glee....just because it has music, and takes place in a high school doesn't mean it's HSM! It's soooo much better! And it's dark!! And it's not the type of musical where they just randomly burst into song and dance or anything...all of the brilliantly rendered songs have their place in a storyline that makes sense. Trust me, just watch one episode. You'll like it. |

Fine. I'll watch an episode just so I can say "hah! I told you so!"
I'll concede it looks better than HSM (not hard) but I will take umbrage with the idea that the songs are "brilliantly rendered". Every song I've heard has been horrifically mutilated. The storyline making sense isn't my problem. Musicals are just a no-no in my book. Music, TV and films are separate mediums as far as I'm concerned and should stay that way. Generally people who make good TV don't make good music, and vice-versa. |

It is worth a look. Not personally a fan of musicals but they usually hang it all together well enough. It is occasionally prone to the mawkish sentimentalism but that's american teen dramas for you. The plus side: Funny + cheerleaders.
