It's not, it's a clear cut photoshopping job.

Saw it on Failblog a while back, some people who live near Northampton said the sign wasn't actually there. The text on the blue bit is much clearer than the rest of the sign, so there has been some photo chop action.

Odd - my best friend says he's seen it himself and I really can't see why he'd lie. His brother even took a photo of it on his phone. I admit it looks like a photoshop but my mate is sure it's real. Whether it was there or not it probably isn't now so meh - it's funny.

There was another version of that sign done a while back that said "family planning advice - go to Africa and buy one" that was spammed all over the net when the Madonna controversy was raging. but being so clearly a fake it wasn't half as well known as this one, which (could, maybe) be real. But as elle said. It isn't.

"The public relations department at Northampton General Hospital (NGH) issued the following statement to its employees: 'I am sure many of you will be aware of a spoof NGH directional sign for a family planning clinic that is being widely circulated via email and the internet. Although it is amusing, it is a hoax."
