Alright, lets make it final then.
OMGWTFKKWBBQ confirmed for Saturday 9th August 2008 from 5pm onwards. Venue is The Cricketers in Richmond, London. Take the District Line (the green one) to Richmond. Upon exiting the station turn left and follow the road around the gentle curve to the right. After about 200m walk past Tesco and make a right-turn down the alleyway with the White Stuff shop on it. That'll take you onto Richmond Green. The Cricketers is one of the last pubs on the left. If you get lost, ask anyone... it's well known. We'll probably be upstairs. Or outside. Or on the green. I will actually post this on the website itself and see how many randoms we can get to turn up!

Getting there was easier than I remembered. Last time I got off the train, asked this old lady where the pub was and she walked me right to the door, telling me about her kids the whole way there. Very nice experience. Anyways, I will be there at 5p.

So - anyone wants to hang out and see London in the days up to the 15th? It's kinda expensive going to London for just one night out?

I'm currently considering whether or not to go. If it's only for the bbq, I'm not spending the £300/$600/€400 for one night out.

Interesting y'all pick the same weekend as my family reunion. We hold what we have named the "Pig Pickin' " each summer. This year on cousin's farm in Yoakum, Texas on Sat.-Sun 8/16-8/17. We roast a large 200-300lb hog: start w/ beer dinking Saturday as soon a we show up, start fire for hog around sunset, place hog on fire after dark, drink more beer, sing songs around campfire, more beer, flip the pig over & pick it's ribs that are done about 3AM...hence event named " Pig Pickin' ", shoot guns, cook the other side, tell tall tales, mmm beer. The few who are sober may attend mass Sunday morning. Then lunch is served smetime Sunday afternoon, hugs, kisses...See y'all back next year.
If any of you will be in South Texas that weekend, you're welcome to attend. PM me for directions, etc. Warning: first-time guests are requested to kiss the pig, before we put it on the fire. { Go figure: Red-neck tradition. } Bon appetite!

Just reading through this again I am wondering if we should've change it to Saturday 9th? Since friday is a bit of a gimpy time to host a social event. People coming after work have to get home and change, then go to Richmond. If we do sat 9th then we have a higher chance of people coming due to not having to take a day off work.... kels can still attend, so can ice... and anyone else. Shall we change it?#
edit: having spoken with Kelsey (since really the date restrictions ride with her) we decided that it would be better to change the bbq to the 9th... i don't think anyone has bought an international ticket anyway, so I'm changing the date. If anyone has an incredible problem with this (like you're paid up in First Class on Air New Zealand) then let us know. Last edited by barrington; 29-06-2008 at 10:30 PM. |

It's a little bit more expensive, but you can technically get one in about a week and a half. Is there an embassy near you?

I don't know all of the details on getting an expedited passport, but I know people who have done it and it is possible, and relatively painless. Just browsing the website for a few minutes I found that you can get one in about two weeks:
Quote:
http://travel.state.gov/passport/get...sing_1740.html Maybe when you go to the post office (or wherever) to get your passport application, there is a place on the application for expedited service. |
