Right some more photos for comments and critique.
Some boring flowers, went for sharpness. The side of the speed freak road. Your typical English postbox. ![]()

Comments on the photograph of the boats tied to the pier.
Negative Guys. The first image (original) is the best. It is a vertical shot. Your eye moves from the foreground toward the back and travels around the staircase, a really nice spiral effect. Also, the depth of field is fantastic. Obviously an f22 with a very fast shutter. Remember, you want to divide your image with a tic-tac-toe playing field and the important parts of your image where those lines cross. There are some modifications for some more 'artistic' photographers, but they rarely work. This shot actually hits three of the four tic-tac-toe corners. Unfortunately, that building in the distance is boring. If you were printing this photograph yourself (or having a professional lab do it,) you could ask them to bring out the trees and lighten the building so it added a 3d effect where your eyes finally come to rest. The depth of field on such a long shot makes this spectacular. Ansel Adams is famous for his depth of field, of course he used an 8 by 10 camera and invented the famous f45 school of Photography. This type of image is almost impossible to get with less than a 4by5 camera. "You Done Good!" The tic-tac-toe thing is the reason the first series of flowers doesn't work as well. The flowers need to be able to 'breathe.' They need to have a context. Shots like this are great for a seed catalog, but don't do well if you want 'pretty.'

I'll take your advice under consideration
The London International Car Show is being held at the moment, and I went to perve over pretty cars. Here are some photos: There are sharper, better exposed, and more colourful pictures, but I've yet to upload them, and I need to sleep right now.

Nice. I went to that a few years ago but I don't live as close to Earl's Court as you so I can't go every year
. It's a great day out though, definitely. And whilst not the most technically brilliant photographs you've ever taken, those are some of the most beautiful. Probably only because I love the subject matter. |

It was held in the Excel Centre near Canary Wharf. HUGE venue.
Some of my better taken photos are of lesser cars, I think I'll post photos of supercars first and foremost, as those are the ones people are interested in.

Yeah, fair enough. I'd love to see the others.
Excel Centre? I've never been but I've heard it's lovely. I went to the International Motor Show years ago when it was still at Earl's Court, so I assumed...but you know what they say about assuming |

UPDATE!!!!
It is an update, but I've discovered a far better way of converting digital images to B&W. And it looks better. The boats again:

And another favourite - that darned fence:
The black and whites now have character. Wait till I work out how to make it look like TriX

And a new one of a rather interesting wall near my house:
This one is far better in B&W than it is in colour.

So do I actually. Though I like the cathedral ones, the other two seem more precious, shots that don't usually get taken. And Mandy, its the same camera as I took the spinning foot picture, it was a late christmas present to myself for having had to get rid of my DSLR
