David used to play like this...
I guess I shouldn't be permitted to say anything unless you guys get to dump on me as well...
This is the ruins down at Bandolier National Monument just outside Los Alamos, NM. The picture was taken from inside a cave on the cliff wall.

And this is "The Hook" back in 1984 or 1985 down at "The Line Camp" in Pojoaque, NM ( John Lee Hooker ) available light, probably ASA 400 Kodachrome, hand held.
Whoops, it is still set up for bigger than 16x20 so I could 'mess with it.' Give me a second and I'll make one that fits. (I used this for a toy, I replaced the guitar with a shot of "Sunshine" from Café Risqué down in Lavonia Georgia.) Not finished with that one, and it isn't appropriate for here.

The thing about Kodachrome is that it is a dye process so there is no resolution problem. Once you digitize them that doesn't hold. Oh, the question. I took them to a pro Camera Store and had them scanned. I think it was about $3.00 each, but that's been awhile ago. When they scan them they give you the results on floppy or CD. I haven't tried them in years, but Seattle Film Works advertises that they give all those services. Recently I found out that Walgreens will develop your film and give you prints and a CD right then on the spot. About $11.00. I haven't tried them with a roll from the Nikon, just those one time cameras.

We have photographs of 57 people in a pyramid on the back of "Big Red." "Big Red" is a 1960 Dhevy 1 ton flatbed truck with oak siderails and all the fun in the world built in. Now "That's what I call a crew..." We ran out of gas once, and about eight guys jumped out and pushed the truck with all the people in it uphill to a gas station.

yah... i was just wonderin b/c not too many people use slide film anymore - except the people who know better hehe - i mean come on, national geographic still requires people to shoot transparencies
i love using velvia when i need that extra "pop" luckily for me i can access a slide scanner at my work. half of my job is scanning and editing old slides in photoshop for doctors to use in presentations. but it's REALLY slow and i hate sitting around for it to scan. do you still shoot with film? i can totally respect that. i'm still a huge supporter of film over digital. yah, its more expensive than digital in the long run... but the rush you get when you finally expose that perfect print *sigh* its so fulfilling. okay i'll stop talking haha... i just miss the photo lab at my uni.

Thought I'd put this here since this is just about me.
Well, it's been an interesting and really educational couple of
weeks. And because of what happened, and what could be happening I need to write this as a sort of "insurance" just in case I disappear. You hear about people who are kidnapped who write insurance notes in advance to let people know that they sense they are in danger. Well, awhile back I used to write to a young lady on one of the mailing lists I used to read a lot. At some point she was going through a divorce, and she just stopped writing that mailing list, and all of her mail bounced. She just disappeared. I don't want to disappear, and I'm not looking to start any email conversations about this. A couple of weeks ago I came down to Albuquerque to get "Big Red" prepared to be driven for Balloon Fiesta. "Big Red" is a 1960 Chevy Apache One Ton Flat Bed Truck. We polish it up and touch up the paint on the bed and this year I put Urethane Varnish on the bed and made a new brace to hold the balloon in place when we drive around after the flight. When I was done, and before I wore out my welcome at my Balloon Pilot's Home, I left to go back home for a week before Balloon Fiesta starts. On Sunday morning I think I got up about 11:30 and started to move some laundry around. I picked up a shirt with my left hand to hang it in the closet. (I'm right handed.) For some reason my left thumb wouldn't release the hanger. I shook it, and it wouldn't release. I turned around and put my left hand down on the bed and tried to scrape the hanger out of my hand... It wouldn't move. The next thing I noticed was that i had no strength in my left arm, and I sort of rolled down onto the bed. I couldn't get up. So I sort of rolled down onto the floor to attempt to crawl to the living room to call 911. But even if I called 911, the front door downstairs was deadbolted... Somehow I managed. But when I reflect back on it later, the next time I looked at a clock it was 14:30 and the next time I looked it was 1900. So I had a "cat scan" and an "MRI", and the jist of the situation seems to be that I have a "subdural hematoma" or, more colloquially, 'a bleed.' For some totally ununderstandable reason, the front of my brain is shrunken so my brain sort of sloshes around inside my skull giving me a low level headache, and causing me to buy very expensive anti-seizure pills. The first thing that came to my mind was "why don't they inject some of that 'close cell' spray foam in there and stabilize everything. But all those tiny blood vessels probably couldn't handle that. So the second thing was, how about some silicone gel? No pressure, and it holds everything in place, They could even use some of the unusable 'breast implants,' and nobody would know the difference. Imagine, Brains and Boobys in the same skull.. What a concept. Put a nipple in the middle of the forehead and walk down the street with a secret smile... So far things are OK. Though that doesn't mean they are good. Evidently I had some type of seizure though nobody is clear on what happened. I have a couple of CT scans showing a "subdural hematoma" and showing that it is being dissolved, but no indication of "why". I have some anti-seizure medicine which seems to be helping, but when it is good, nobody can tell that I've been sick, and when it is bad, I can hardly stand. So I dare-not drive, I probably could get by with living alone, but need someone to take me anywhere I need to go. I have no insurance so everything is adding to my stress level, and life goes on... My +70wpm typing speed is down to five or six, so I haven't been writing. My daughter is keeping me here at her house in Rio Rancho and I'm thankful.
