Just read Child of God by Cormac McCarthy... twice... for my Myths of the Modern South class. It's a quaint little story of a dispossessed outcast who roams the hills of Tennessee committing arson, murder and necrophilia. In fact, this book contains the holy trinity of aberrant sexual behavior: pedophilia, incest and necrophilia. Score! Now I have to write a 1,000 - 2,000 word paper on how the elements of the Southern Grotesque are employed in the novel.
"Purgatory's kind of like the in-betweeny one. You weren't really shit, but you weren't all that great either. Like Tottenham."
I'll try being nicer...if you'll try being smarter.
