The difference between arrogance and confidence is entirely up to others to decide there buddy. You can state that you're confident, but its whether the people who talk to you think you're arrogant or not that counts.
What people tend to look for in their prospective partners is at least partially dependant on their parent's marital status. If they're happy, you may look for someone like your parents (sick as it sounds) or someone exciting, if you feel your parents are boring. If you're parents are divorced, or deceased that can also add at the very least subconcious changes to the things you look for.
