I would postulate that one needs to show some degree of weakness and dependence to endure a successful relationship. If you do not lower some defences and become a little interdependent with a potential partner, you will be merely relegated to the status of Cast Iron Bitch, ensuring that no man will ever touch you.
There's loads of hard-nosed career women that are just like this. They have high-powered, well-paid jobs in the city. But they will all retire sad and lonely.
