The New World Of Age Rating AH!

God sake i'm sick and tired of films coming out nowadays with a stupid age
ratings. For example i heard that the new alien vs predator film was a pg-13 (12A) what the hell is up with that and there is no way in gods green earth terminator 3 was a 12A.

This *bs* new rating with got in the uk 12A is just another way of making MONEY!!!!! "i know we could make the film really good" but NO were cut all that out make it lame, drop it to a 12A so we can make more MONEY!!!! AH! so i'm sorry in the future it looks like anyone will be able to go and see anything at the cinema

I tend to ignore the ratings. I don't really think a movie is going to just become bad if they shoot for a PG-13 or 12A rating. There are some really good movies that have been rated PG-13 that would have been just as good rated R, and there have been some horrible rated R movies that would have been just as bad rated PG-13.

Are most of the movie theaters you guys go to really that strict on the rating system? My movie theater IDs, but I never thought of it as that serious.

It doesn't bother me in the slightest. I can get into 18s so I don't care.

Edward 26-06-2004 11:15 AM

grr

why can't it be a 15 :(

Elijahfan 27-06-2004 06:08 PM

yeah the movie theaters i go to are crap. the ticket people see people sneaking in through the exit door and going into movies and they dont do anything about it but they care to card poeple when they look young

Sarah 27-06-2004 09:00 PM

So what is the age rating in the UK?

Flightfreak 27-06-2004 09:19 PM

i never had problems with age Rating, when i was to young for a movie i just went with my older brother. :D

Edward 28-06-2004 09:40 AM

PG-13 is usually 12A in the UK right?

has it been confirmed?

i know it's a 13 in argentina, but that's it

you never know, it might be higher in the UK like passion of the christ was

Kyle_West 05-07-2004 05:10 PM

age ratings

Dont do squat. I get into all R rated movies and im a year to young. Buy a ticket for shrek or van helsing, walk into the other movie like it is nothing. Nobody cares. But I've been to a few theatres taht enforce the law, in that case dont be a shmuck and look around. Walk in, its so easy.

Edward 06-07-2004 09:06 AM

the thing is, i want it to be higher than a 12

06-07-2004 09:19 AM

I care because this affects me.

Insightful Glare...truly.

frodo1511 11-07-2004 05:51 AM

Here in Kansas City, there is no real threat of getting non-admitted into the theaters for being underaged(just stay away from the big theaters) I'm 16, And I've gotten into R-rated movies w/o adults(Dawn of the Dead, Gladiator, Troy, etc.) I don't know how strict it is in Uk, but wtf is this 12A, 13A crap? Do they still use the R, PG-13, G ratings over there?

Edward 11-07-2004 10:11 AM

in the UK....there's 12A, not 13A

12A means you have to be 12 to see it

if you are under 12, you can watch it if you have an adult (16 years old) with you....

12A (A) <---Adult

then there's 15, and 18

Kyle_West 11-07-2004 03:06 PM

?/?

16 is adult?

Sarah 11-07-2004 03:15 PM

Edward, I'm sure for 12A a child under 12 needs an adult over 18, not 16.

keira loves lipgloss 11-07-2004 05:57 PM

yeah its an adult over 18 years old by the law

Hazzle 11-07-2004 06:06 PM

I'm not sure that's the case. See the point for the 12A certificate is that it's not quite strong enough for a 15, but not quite mild enough for a 12. Then again, the term "adult" in film classification is always used to refer to an 18 year old...

To be honest...noone really cares about the lower certifications...as far as I'm aware 18 certificates are the only ones regularly checked, and even then it's rare.

sorry, but in the UK, T3 was a PG-13 rating? now that is funny, since it was still rated R over in the states.

...Anyway, what I ment to say is that is there ever going to be a rating between 12 and 15 in the UK? someone should protest.

There's no such thing as PG-13 in the UK.

Why should people protest for a rating between 12 and 15? Our system is fine the way it is.
