Giant Fucking Robots...
What's everyone's take on Transformers? I know many here grew up with the toy line, comic and television show as did I, and some people were rather mortified when Michael Bay signed up to do the film.
In a nutshell: It's big, it's bad, it's Bay at his best. Light on plot and character development (as is the standard for Bay films), but easily has the most action I've seen in a film in quite some time. The effects are the best I've ever laid eyes on-it's damn-near impossible to point out what looks "real" and what looks "fake" (rotoscoping is impossible to determine in this film, everything molds quite nicely). One does not simply watch this movie for everything found in The Godfather-you watch it to see giant fucking robots beat the holy shit out of one another, and it is oh so satisfying. Couple minor mistakes with continuity from G1 and certain names are switched around here and there, but nothing a hard core fan would cry over. When is it released in the U.K.? |

It was released in mine yesterday. Three cheers for piracy.

I dunno, a movie like thins screams to be seen on a giant screen, but whatever. As long as the fans enjoyed it.
|
fans did enjoy it. it was FUCKING amazing. i have to say, Shia Le Beouf was sooo hott! anyone agree? :P
transformers does rule. the special effecs rocked. like they were amazing. i loved the love thing between sam and makayla. although being a girl, i do wish that they would have touched on it a bit more. :] but yeah thats all i have to say right now. :] later, gaters. |

Change that to "Megan Fox", and I'll agree. The only time I've admitted a man was hot in a film was Brad Pitt in Fight Club. |

I wanna see Transformers, though, it seems like everyone is saying it's worth it. |

I think you'd like the film, Jake. Seems to have a broad theme of acceptance no matter your age or sex. |
When I was small, the some of my favorite toys were the Transformers and I remind to myself to have dreamed on from that it would go on if these were real, have seen many "proper movies" of Transformers and have dreamed that some day I will see a really movie of these fascinating creatures (and up to today I consider them to be not less fascinating) - a result of the human imagination of the beginnings of the robotics epoch.
And this day finally has come. I say it without any exaggeration. It is extremely difficult to put in a scene something so enormous and in the same time as unreal as a car-robot and to do except that it works harmonically with the whole history and interacts with the personages of same, and other robots! It is a big and hard work (see the movie), which alone Spilberg might do with the direction of Bay and his peculiar style, although flatter than a table. If, the performance is painful, the casting - the worst thing (now, days, after seeing the movie, I can not remember of only one face those that they have interpreted... the curves of Fox it is what more he emphasizes :), after the robots and the action scens. The narrative (they do not confuse with the history) is a little infantile, but Transformers is a movie for adolescents! So it is not necessary to demand very much. The phrase that I have liked: -"We are more than we can see..." Optimus Prime |
I was so disappointed to come into this thread and not see links to fucking machine porn.

Hahahaha.
I can get you those links. Anyone see the trailer for the JJ Abrams (well, he produced it) untitled project? It looks pretty interesting. Monster movie! Ahhh. http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/11808/ |

Sorry, hassel, I couldn't find any free stuff, and God help me if I'm going to pay for that kind of action. Cloverfield had one of the better teaser trailers I've ever seen. THIS is how you make a good trailer, instead of giving the entire plot twists and ending away. Better not be another Godzilla flick. |
I saw it, and i must say, they did a great job with such a fake, unbelievable storyline. I give it a 7.
|
have you not heard the term "suspension of disbelief"?
half of all films have "fake" and "unbelievable" storylines. |
I'd say more than half
|
well... my original off the cuff statistic was 90%... but that seemed to large. but meh, you get my point.
