Non-English speakers...
 

This is a serious post so please excuse the language and lack of smileys to break up the length.

I always felt that KKW was very accomodating for non-English speakers who at least try, cracking down on lazy English speakers using text language instead...but it seems with the treatment Glow's been getting that perhaps I'm wrong. It seems only the other non-native English speakers (like Leonie who's Dutch) actually are willing to understand that for some people English is their second language and that if they have trouble, it's not their fault. It's not hard to be a little accomodating and understanding.

Next time, if you don't understand, please ask nicely as opposed to making out the person is stupid, because they're trying to use an unfamiliar language...imagine YOU were on a Russian board as an English speaker and had to use Russian...I think most of you native English speakers would struggle, so give them a break! It's rude, it's cruel, and it's just downright wrong. Try and assume a more accomodating tone, be respectful to their efforts to try and use the language, and help them along, eh?

All in the spirit of building an even stronger community than before, rather than being insular and disrespectful to newer members.

(PS: I wasn't sure where to put this, so if a Mod wants to move it to a more appropriate place, or even delete it if they think it's inappropriate, feel free to do so, I just had to have my say on this issue)

your right... but also there are limits. Some people who come here, dont even try to speak proper english...

but your right, its better to ask, or correct the one making a mistake... than simply brainless bitching @ this certain one... (and there are some who think they are better than most other members overhere...)

No, what Hazzle was saying was that people like you, who don't speak English as a first language, weren't being treated very good. He was just using you as an example. Of course you can post on this forum!

Are people actually allowed to post in other languages or not?

Wouldn’t be so bad if it were Russian :rolleyes: if they can’t speak English why bother signing up to an English forum I’m sure there are plenty in their own native language to choose from :)

But i dont think you could get a Russian version of kkw, and to find it as good as kkw either!

there arent that many keira sites, and few that are decent especially for those not in the uk or usa. so it would be good if we could be nice to everyone.

Also, i have noticed hazzle asked if people could not use smileys. So why have some people used them?

no you can use the smilies if you want. he just said he wasnt on this post to convey a more serious tone.

Yeah, to clear up some misunderstandings, of course you can post on these boards Glow, you're most welcome in fact, and I for one welcome you to the KKW community. I just felt people weren't as nice to you as they should have been...

As for Mishka's point, sure, it is an English forum, but there aren't that many good Keira sites around, we know, we diss most of them, and most of them are English-speaking anyway, so the same problem arises. I'm sure in time there may well be foreign boards, but even so, why should we exclude these people? We should welcome different people bringing different perspectives, if they're having trouble with the language, help them, if they're then rude, then you have every right to be rude back :)

(and the use of a smiley there shows I'm not against them, I just chose not to use one in the original post as I was rather pissed off at the behaviour of some people...sorry...but it had to be said.)

Well Perrow is a known offender and does not respond to nicey nice tactics. I for one know that he is capable of proper posts and threads, he did a few on the old KKW. So if he does reoffend I resort to the only method he'll understand, if you don't like it then thats your opinion Vortex but sometimes these things will have to be done to preserve the sanity of KKW. Would you rather we told nobody off and let anyone get away with murder and let KKW turn into a spammers dream? I doubt it, we've been there and done that and I prefer to see intelligent discussions, not meaningless spam (everywhere).

I don't think there's a single Dutch Keira board. Secondly, even if there'd be one, it could never be as much fun as KKW or whatever we go by these days.

Sarcasm is nice, mocking people just because they were born in a non English speaking country isn't. Don't people such as myself deserve a little respect for at least trying?
