The Best Time Of Our Lives
The reputable Showbiz reporter for the Daily Mail is reporting today that Keira has committed to the Dylan Thomas drama The Best Time Of Our Lives, which has a screenplay written by her mother Sharman Macdonald. Filming will start in January. Atonement and Pirates 3 will occupy Keira for the rest of this year.
This is the true story of the complex relationship between Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, his wife Caitlin, childhood friend Vera Phillips and her eventual husband William Killick. Keira is set to play 25-year old Vera. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1794 Paul |
The page you linked to says she'll portray Caitlin.

Is the Daily Mail a reliable source?
|
As far as I know, it's fairly reliable. Better than the Mirror or the Star or something. Not quite the Guardian, or even the Telegraph, but it's alright I think.

Well she's a lot prettier than Caitlin. ;)
So, will this be Oscar nod #2? |
I fear she is working too hard. Taking every single role that comes her way isn't smart either. She seems desperate for money. Though I know she's taking this because of her mother.

Jake's right.
The films she is working on are probably all Oscar-nominated-types. Silk and Atonement impress me as that type of film. Refreshingly, she seems content to work on smaller budget, independent films, rather than cashing in on big blockbusters. And, with a cool million a year from Chanel, I don't think we'll have to pass around a collection plate for poor Keira any time soon. ;) |
I didn't mean it like that, rather it would make her 'seem' like she's doing it for money by the media. I haven't heard of any role she's turned down aside from the Bond girl thing and hey, can you blame her?
Besides, people who produce crap movies like Scarey Movie, know better than to ask her to be in their movies. She's too high class for that. |
Her most recent role choices have been good ones, I think....
|
To me, it seems a little as though she's re-making Zhivago a number of times.
|
Well, yes....
A film set in modern times, and maybe a little more light-hearted, would be nice. But I'm not necessarily talking about the roles THEMSELVES, per se. I'm talking about the NATURE of them. Silk, Atonement, The Best Time of Our Lives -- these are all relatively low-key, dramatic projects. She seems to be aiming for the serious actress angle, rather than the movie star angle with these choices. If she does well in them, she will be in a much stronger position career-wise. Plus, she can get away with picking these kinds of movies at the moment, as there will still be one more Pirates film coming out in about a year. It's the old strategy: do the occasional commercial, "blockbuster" movie that makes money to keep yourself viable a little longer, and mix in smaller films between them, to develop your skills more as an actor. Assuming she can really act (and I think she can), these recent choices are good ones. |
I'd maybe like her more if she did more modern movies, because I actually liked her in Love Actually. The periodical shit annoys me.
|
I agree, Mandy. I enjoyed her much in BILB.

Anyway, I love her recent choices. :) |

hi .. i liked her very much in love actually.. would have like to see more of her, but the part she had she naild:P
i think she´s only picking these movies because she wants to.. at least not for the money! i think she likes drama the most of what she´s done and we will probably see alot more of her in that kind of movies! i dont mind.. im a guy, and the movies i like the most are romantic comedies! |

Jeez can't we have her in some futuristic quasi-pornographic thriller? Why the hell not?! |

Still think she does too many period pieces. Another modern film like Pure is much needed at the moment. |
