Had to be created in order to keep Sarah's thread from going off topic.

So why do you think Star Wars > Start Trek
or
Star Trek > Star Wars (yeah right).

I prefer Hoth. Star Wars defined a generation. It forever changed the industry's perspective on filmmaking. Oh, and Trekkys are weird.

What he said. But I've always been a fan of Star Trek, if I say otherwise... my father will disown me.

Star Wars, by far. Mainly because of Empire Strikes Back, which was a masterpiece.

I still say A New Hope is the greatest of them all.

Star Wars because I've seen the new ones once, and Star Trek I haven't ever seen in full.

Star Wars, because the SW geeks (yours truly included) could certainly beat the crap out of the Trekkies for sure. Besides, how can you stop a Jedi with the ability to deflect phaser beams with his saber? It's just ridiculous. And please, Locutus vs. Vader (the ultimate in good guy turned evil turned back to good) is absolutely no contest - Vader would kick Picard's ass from here to the other galaxy, in which SW takes place.

Im not even going to buy into this argument, its pointless, its all about personal taste. I for one like Star Trek better, because its not only a couple of movies, it spans over a far larger time-line, has more interesting and intruging storylines, excellent writers and special effects, it also has jolene blalock and jeri ryan.

Star Wars is better. I watched about 2 episodes of Star Trek and said ''what the hell is this!?'' It's shite.

Star Wars rules. Hands down. Win. Over. Done.

2 episodes of meer thousands... what a low brow, arrogant viewpoint. I thought more of you sarah, surely u cant critisise a show with thousands and thousands of episodes over a 30 odd year time-line, through different series, just by watching 2 episodes... :icon_err:

Star Trek is a more realistic adaptation of what 'could' happen. Star Wars is pure fantasy, it will never happen, perhaps thats why I ( a realist ) enjoys star trek more.

And DragonRat, that dosnt really make much sense at all. Borg dont work like that, and in a 1v1 encounter.. if there ever was suck a thing, ure vader would get 2 swift tubes in the neck, and end up being a member of the collective.

/end star trek nerd rant.

Star Wars > Star Trek

1. Ewoks
2. Jawas
3. Star Wars fans are WAY less nerdy than Trekkies.

Starwars!!! :)

Because:
- More fantasy
- Natalie Portman in the last 3 parts.
- Jar Jar
- The story

Borg couldn't touch Vader, simply because his control of the Force would destroy all the Borg. Besides, I doubt the Collective could handle the power that assimilating Vader would possess; they'd destroy themselves in madness.

Plus, the SW games beat out the ST games, hands down.

Renegade: Although I thought that the battle of Hoth was great, it was just too short compared to Endor's. Plus, I like battles in space, they're great.

Mmm...

Ewok soup...

Nah. Star wars is good for those who like fantasy and stuff. There's nothing wrong with that, I enjoyed LOTR. But picture LOTR in 5000 A.D., and now you can imagine how silly it seems. Star Wars is like LOTR in space. I really can't it seriously, hehe. BUt entertaining nonetheless.

Star trek is witty. Star trek has memorable captains like Kirk, Picard, and Janeway. Star trek was the first series ever I believe to have included a black person in their cast and an asian guy. Star trek also had a woman captain like Janeway.

And star trek deals with real issues like politics, sexism, and racism. It just seems more real and definately it's more scientifc.

I guess, without all the lightsabers, Force powers, and blasters. :err:

I guess thats why i like it more than star wars, that and the fact that there are actually new episodes coming out every week, its off season at the moment in Australia, but dont u star wars guys get sick of watching the same 3 movies over and over, no matter how good they are, and episode 1 and 2 are pretty shit, there like half-decent movies. Dragonrat, im going to end this argument, i just realised how damn stupid it is lol.

No, never have, never will, just like the LOTR trilogy, they're always good enough to watch again and again.

The only reason Star Trek deals with real-life issues, is because they have the TV time to do so. I mean, they've had four shows (and a fifth still on the air) for the past few decades; in that time, every drama will undergo an episode or two (or more) about relevant issues.

As for Star Wars, it remains the quintessential science-fiction movie, because it deals with the usual ideals - heroism, altruism, fighting the good fight, getting the girl at the end, finding one's true identity, and finally, REDEMPTION. Lucas was able to combine religious ideals to form a cohesive story that surrounded the Skywalker family.

But yes, this argument is futile. I just prefer Star Wars, honestly, because Trekkies wear the weird Federation uniforms, and speak Klingon. And the Universal Translator was a cop-out, so that everyone can talk in perfect English.

I prefer Star Wars cause the Star Wars fans tend to smell a little better than the Star Trek fans.

Also because 'trek' is a totally naff word.

I've never really noticed a difference in their 'bouquet'.
They all taste like chicken, though. ;)
