Hi!
I have an idea what may be good for the forum:
It would be good when it's possible to select the gender (male/female) in the User-Properties and this should be displayed under the name.
So many people here have strange Usernames, that don't seay anything about the gender.

but one can easily lie about their gender and i dunno, some peeps may not prefer to give their gender away :icon_err:

I think that's a very good idea. Maybe better to make it "optional". So then only if you want it!

If you want to f$#ck it and give your wrong gender... go to hell :fencing:
... If it's hard to choose: let it blank, or let others decide it :)

Actually I’m a 19 aged little boy

But then where would our member status go? I'd rather be labeled as Senior Member.

You can put it under the age field, a good idea, not sure how easy it would be for Baz to do.

Pretty easy thing to do, Poggs. I see it on a lot of other forums.

Yeah, that way, all the mass confusion some people have will go away!

What about if you're a transvestite?

What about if you're a transvestite?

Then you belong at the Christina Aguliera fansite.

I'm not too sure if the gender thing is such a good idea. It's a bit too obvious. But, it's up tot he admins. I have complete trust in Apoggy... :err:

Could be like this:
Female/Male/Not Specified :)

I don't know much about programming Websites, but I don't think it's very hard to do.

Yeah, that's not too terribly bad, apple. I personally just have a hard time depicting what symbol goes with what gender, but I can figure it out.

arrow=male, cross=female

I'll have a look at adding another optional field underneath the age/location.
If people want it, great. If people want to abuse it then fine - judge at your own discretion.

I don't get why you would want to know their genders... but an extra area sounds cool.

A lot of confusion is caused by members calling each other 'him' or 'her' and sometimes people find it insulting.

It probably would have worked better, if your name wasn't so blatantly feminine. Why couldn't you be called Jo?

Sarah

Apparently the name Sarah is used for males and females in some countries.

I'll add some names, Kim and Alex. But I don't think it's something wrong to have names like that. They have a gender, you just don't know which gender it is.

sorry i forgot about you. mostly its girls named ryan that annoy me.

Jasper

Chris too...

I dont mind it too much, but it can be annoying -.-

Leonie
01-09-2004, 05:43 PM
Chris is usually short for a girl's actual, clearly female name: Christina/Christine... Nicknames are always confusing.

Adolf-The-Apple
01-09-2004, 07:46 PM
For me the most confusing thing is not only the Nickname but the fact that most people here have Keira Knightley-Avatars.

Leonie

You know what confuses me, gender-wise? People with apple avatars :p

You asked for it. No really, you did.

I have a useful title that shows I am a lovely lady :)

(Poggs, Change it NOW!!!)

To further complicate things I have changed my avatar. :icon_razz

02-09-2004, 08:41 AM
Oh look, its an avatar of Muse's Absolution album. I thought Chris was short for Christopher as well?

Leonie
02-09-2004, 10:14 AM
You really are a MiniCliff :icon_razz Yeah it's Muse.

Chris is short for all sort of things, that wasn't my point, my point is that nicknames and names that are short for something are always confusing.

Most people can tell im a male, look at my sig / avatar / "westie yobbo" status. :D

You that chick in the signature Narg? Wonder if anyone's thought I'm a female...

Narg
02-09-2004, 01:59 PM
I always thought you were a girl, when I listened to the sound of your voice in that other thread it confirmed my opinion now i find out you arent!, cool :D!.

deviljet88
02-09-2004, 02:01 PM
You must have weird girlfriends if you believe a hoarse Asian voice that's broken to be a girl's.

Narg
02-09-2004, 02:02 PM
I usually base the sound of ones voice to be either female or male on one simple premise, this premise is "does this person have balls" after listening to you, i was still unsure if you did or not. :P :D

deviljet88
02-09-2004, 02:05 PM
How the hell do you tell a voice to if the person has balls? I mean my voice isn't even squeaky. Your premises are shit :P So are you the chick in your sig?

Narg
02-09-2004, 02:09 PM

You, sir, are not blind. Make sure you stay on topic with your posts, please. You can always use PM's or the shoutbox for random questions. :)

deviljet88
03-09-2004, 11:57 AM
But its not random, since I raised the issue if the girl in Narg's sig is actually Narg. Stop jumping on people lol, you're not even an officer :P
