No Barbecue this year? And it was my turn to sit next to Keira too...

Suppose that means, there'll be no bbq this year..

why not
because of the recession?
come on

Because of inactivity, I guess.
I mean, I'll gladly host party in my flat if people are willing to go to Denmark...

It would be fun to meet you, but I have so many "That's impossible" that my "round Tuits" can't overcome.

I think this is largely down to me having left the UK and the rest of the regular BBQ contingent no longer being in active service on the boards. Alas, the great tradition of the annual OMGWTFKKWBBQ may have gasped its last.

yes but why don`t you make advisements on other sites?

Well it's the highest listed fansite on google. If people want to come, they'll come. No point forcing it. Communities are spontaneous and organic. Keira's career seems to have fallen into a hole; when she picks up so shall we.

We've all been "busy". On top of Baz being overseas, Ice (when I last checked) has a job and a girlfriend (yeah, I was surprised too), Cliff likewise and Peach is also out of the country (not sure if she too has a girlfriend...nice to dream about, though ;)). Haven't checked in with any of them in a while.

Ducky, who was the last KKWer I had any sort of contact with, has been busy but is still, I believe, London-based. I have all sorts of shit going on, but things do seem to be calming down a tad now. Besides, I've not been on the forums.

Now that I'm back, and if there's suitable interest, I'll look into organising one for later in the year. If there is any interest, post a reply to this thread.

Foeni
18-03-2010, 01:51 PM
How about hosting it in Denmark this year, then?
I don't have that much money, since I'm now studying and from what I know baz isn't too rich either..

Hazzle
18-03-2010, 02:42 PM
For me that's not a problem. I believe that'd be more convenient for Baz too, but I'll wait to see what he has to say about that. If enough people (Cliff, Ducky, Ice, Peach etc) can make it, then I'm all for holding it in Denmark.

Better to hold it in Denmark and get an attendance than hold it in London and have nobody there. So let's see, everybody...BBQ this year, yes or no, and if yes, where, Denmark or London?

Foeni
18-03-2010, 04:46 PM
We could even make a real BBQ this year where I live.. That'd be a change ;)

Hazzle
19-03-2010, 04:01 PM
We actually did have a proper BBQ at the very first OMGWTFKKWBBQ.

It was in Ducky's backyard. Cliff managed to break a pile of plates whilst showing off with a bokken (I believe it was Ducky's bokken). Which was followed up by a trip to Keirapub (the local pub near Keira's family home).

I could definitely agree to a Danish bbq. Heck, I can even put up a couple of people in my apartment.

I'd guess Denmark may even be cheaper for flights than the UK. No offence to Fo, or any other Danes, but I doubt it's as big a tourist destination as the UK.

I demand an explanation for the resurgance of activity. Don't you people have things to be doing?

On topic: Denmark... interesting. August probably suits better and if a floor could be arranged it might even be affordable.

Foeni
01-04-2010, 03:53 PM
I think August will work for me as well - and I can provide people with a floor. Hell I'll even give you my spare bed, ducks.

Hazzle

Hell I'll even give you my <s>spare</s> bed, ducks.

Fixed. I could've been dirtier but I think I'll leave it at that. And no Ducks, I have nothing better do. I work for myself so end up with strange pockets of free time that aren't really suited to much else but random websurfing, blog comments, forums etc.

As for the BBQ, are we beginning to settle on August in Copenhagen? Like Ducks I think it'd actually be quite interesting to have the BBQ overseas.

Then you could all come over here and save me a trip I can't afford either way :D We're famous for having more cows than people, so BBQ is not a problem. And our currency sucks so you'll be kings.
Plus girls go nuts over foreigners so you'll definitely get laid.
All fixed :P

Foeni
01-04-2010, 11:19 PM
Haha, that sounds pretty good as well - unfortunately a bit expensive for most of us :(
But there are several months until August - you could always just save money for the trip :p

Mandy
01-04-2010, 11:21 PM
I don't have the money to go to a BBQ across the pond.

However, maybe you can be chatrouletting at the same time I am and we can be miraculously paired with each other.

Or you know, we could use skype and I'll get some ribs from Hooters.

Hazzle
01-04-2010, 11:47 PM
It would, but I guess we'll have to get her on the phone or skype or something. We had you on the phone last time, didn't we Mandy? Skype'd probably be way better because we can use webcams...almost as good as being there (well, sans the obligatory groping from Baz).

So PeeDee, are you offering to put all of us up if we come to your neck of the woods? ;)

Mandy
01-04-2010, 11:53 PM

My bank account and the possibility of field school next year (food and shelter to come to think of it. Worth it.

Hazzle
02-04-2010, 10:52 PM
Good point Fo. So let's say that, as a provisional plan, we're holding the BBQ in Copenhagen over the weekend of the 28th of August (for those of us travelling, probably makes sense to arrive on the 27th to make the most of the trip). For now that seems as good a plan as any, let's see what the feedback is to that. How's that suit everybody?

eelliiinn
03-04-2010, 10:00 AM

It's pretty close.. Would be fun if you could make it :)

Ardnax
03-04-2010, 01:29 PM
I can already say that I won't make it. Already spent enough money when I went to Copenhagen during the Christmas break last year.
Besides, I'll have school during that time, not during the weekend but I'll still be pretty darn dead because of it. Sorry folks!

eelliiinn
03-04-2010, 08:06 PM
Yes, I'm from Sweden. So if I have their permission and enough money I'll be there! (:

Foeni
03-04-2010, 08:15 PM
That'd be great :)
As I said to the PD and Mandy - start saving up :) I don't think it will be that expensive. I, and I assume Baz will too, will gladly provide you guys with a floor to sleep on if you don't want the spend money on a hotel..

Porcelain_Doll
03-04-2010, 08:36 PM
Even if I could save enough money, I've just remembered my sister comes home in August! She'll bring the boyfriend around, and he's French, so I don't wanna miss that, and we'll be going to Buenos Aires.

So I'll have to settle for Skype too.

Hazzle
04-04-2010, 10:43 AM
Ok, so can we get a provisional guest list together, assuming the date of the weekend of the 28th of August in Copenhagen? Just to get an idea of numbers.

This is what I've got so far, feel free to tack on your name to the thread as we go and I'll edit this post to reflect the changes:

Definitely Attending:

Ducky
Foeni
Baz

Maybe Attending:

Elin
Haz

Definitely Not Attending:

PD
Ardnax
Mandy
Michael

If you're in the wrong "group" or "section", feel free to let me know and I'll edit the post to correct the mistake.

I'd love to make it, but we'll be only a couple of weeks from a trip to New Hampshire (which is looking to be really fucking expensive) for a bona-fide lesbian wedding. How progressive is that?
Maybe we'll be able to make the trip if there's one next year.

25-05-2010, 02:38 AM
I just got back from a fencing trip and have been offered a place at a training camp in Budapest this January so my cash just got diverted. Sorry guys, I will make it one of these years.

Hazzle
25-05-2010, 07:29 AM
No problem. Congratulations. I've updated the list to reflect that, and hopefully next year you'll be able to make it. Speaking of which, maybe next year, if we can find a willing sponsor, we could hold it Stateside? That'd probably be much easier on everyone in that hemisphere (which is quite a lot of our regulars).

Anyway, I'm now a maybe. It's a maybe leaning in favour of attending, but still a maybe nonetheless.

Heh. Figured that was a likely possibility. And this before she even knows what kind of reprobates you'd be meeting up with. So what's the current status, are we still on? Foeni, Baz, Ducks? And is the offer of a place to crash from Fo/Baz still open? Let's get this puppy finalised and then we can commit to booking travel out there.

Foeni

Don't know about y'all, but me & about 20 cousins will roast a ~300lb hog in Yoakum, Texas this weekend! MMM, pork, beans, tortillas & all the pie you can eat. Hazzle
16-04-2011, 11:02 AM
Well, given Baz is now ensconced in Bacon-land with Foeni I think holding it in Denmark makes a lot of sense. I assume it'd be more convenient for Elin too.

I'm OK with that, if Ducky is then I can't see any reason to hold it in London, at least with the present "guest list".
