Can we have another bbq? Can it be between August 8 and 11th? Can I bring the beer?

No really, anyone up for it? Believe it or not, I'm not going to London for all the cool shit I've seen eight times. I'm going *for you*.

Mandy
28-02-2008, 09:55 PM
Ice asked me if I wanted to go in August but wasn't sure when. I'll definitely consider/try! Depends on how deep my pockets are.

Kelsey

Yay Mandy!! Try to come, it would be awesome to get some new people.

I'm up for it.

Mandy
01-03-2008, 07:11 AM
You're always up for it. (At least that's what I heard)

Alright, kids...pick a date in August, I'll put in a request for time off. I really need to get to one of these get-togethers you kids have.

Kelsey
02-03-2008, 11:16 PM
Can we stick with August 8th (Friday) or 9th (Saturday) for the crazy party. If there's anyone who wants to head out to Hampton Court for a day or any other London things with me, I'll be in London from the 8th to the 11th and would love the company.

Foeni
03-03-2008, 02:22 PM
Which day is funniest going out in London, Friday or Saturday?

Kelsey
08-03-2008, 12:32 AM
I don't care which day we have the BBQ. I finally made my hotel reservations and am there the 8th thru the 12th (I added a day), but I don't know when our London friends have to work or school or whatever.

Mandy, did you decide if you are coming?

Foeni
12-05-2008, 08:43 AM
Okay, I'm bumping this.
Can we set a date? I've got the time off work, so I don't care if it's friday or saturday.
Mandy, have you found out if you're coming?.

Kels - do get in touch if you want to do some touristy stuff in London together.

Kelsey
29-05-2008, 03:48 AM
I'm now there from the 8th until the 16th.... am free every day as of right now, but am planning some day trips so I will wait to do that until we have a date planned.

Do we have any idea when Baz will be back? Where do you all want to meet up?

duckula
02-06-2008, 03:41 PM
Not sure when Bazzle is back, message via facebook perhaps. I will be about.

Kelsey
03-06-2008, 10:16 PM
How about either Saturday the 9th or Friday the 15th? I will be exhausted either one, lol. Somebody remind me to put London on the front of the trip next year....
I will message Baz.

I would prefer friday 15th I think, before that I'm in Normandy, storming the beaches and whatnot.

Kelsey
05-06-2008, 07:29 PM
Cliffy I love Normandy! You're going to have fun!

The 15th works for me. Do we have a location?

I still haven't messaged Baz

Foeni
06-06-2008, 04:50 PM
The 15th works for me, too. Do we have a count on how many is coming?

Kels, do PM me if you wanna do all the touristy stuff in London.

Kels, do PM me if you wanna do all the touristy stuff in London.

Yeah, I just have to figure everything out. Once we for sure say we are going to do the 15th, I might just fly in to London either on the 14th or 15th. I planned to spend so much time in London because my cousin was going to come with me, but now she's not, so I might want to go to a city I haven't been to yet. I just have to figure it all out...

Kelsey
11-06-2008, 12:37 AM
I've tried Baz like three times over the course of all the planning and haven't heard back from him. Tried him again a few days ago and nothing. I'm thinking he doesn't care about the bbq :(

Digital_Ice
11-06-2008, 07:11 AM
He's still not back in the country.

He met a girl in india and is still traveling with here.

:p

Kelsey
11-06-2008, 08:33 PM
I messaged him on Facebook and MSN....basically he's gonna think I am an annoying stalker. I just asked if he would be back for the bbq in August and he said nothing.

Kelsey
12-06-2008, 07:16 PM
I'm quite sure he has other things that he cares more about for the moment.

That's what I figure. If he's there, great, if not....it won't be the same, but I'm sure we will still have a good time. Anyone have a location in mind?

Ranman
12-06-2008, 10:21 PM
Baz has been taken hostage by Hundi militants. Lets gather as many cows as we can and offer a trade.

Foeni
15-06-2008, 10:02 AM
Ice, u asked Cathrine yet about the date? As for myself, I'll do my best to be there. Time to meet the persons behind the avatars and nicks! ;)
Great idea!
Meet up at the same pub we did last time?

barrington
16-06-2008, 08:13 AM
O HAI GUYZ!
I just got off the plane from my many months in India (had a great time, thanks for asking) and wanted to let you know that YES I shall be at the BBQ of course. I know that 15th August was mooted but I propose the 16th since its a saturday and therefore we have a good chance of actually finding a BBQ in a pub beer garden somewhere. As usual we should probably meet at the Cricketers in Richmond (god knows why but you can't break tradition) and then set about getting shitfaced. Awesome. I don't actually live in London any more but I'm sure things can be arranged. Dibs on Frank's couch.

Kelsey
16-06-2008, 07:16 PM
I leave the 16th. I am in London from the 8th until the 16th. If you want to do it on a Saturday...does the 9th work?

Glad you had a good time in India Baz

Kelsey
20-06-2008, 07:30 PM
It just occured to me that Cliff said he was in France on the 9th....will it really be a huge problem on the 15th Baz? I want to make sure everyone can make it though.

Cricketers in Richmond is fine with me....let's get this thing planned so I can decide when I will be in London. :)

barrington
20-06-2008, 08:04 PM
Alright let's do the 15th then, say 5pm onwards in the Cricketers?

Kelsey
20-06-2008, 09:40 PM
Okay, is the 15th cool with everyone? (I don't even know why I am asking - at this point, I hope it is!):) 5p.m. sounds good.

duckula
21-06-2008, 10:09 AM

25-06-2008, 10:03 AM
So we're set on the 15th? Because until we're sure, I'm not booking my flight tickets.
Kels, when are you in London?

Ian
25-06-2008, 05:16 PM
Is this open to everybody?

And where's The Cricketers?

Foeni
25-06-2008, 06:59 PM
Yes, it's open to all KKW-ers. The Cricketers is a pub in Richmond.

Kelsey
25-06-2008, 09:03 PM
So we're set on the 15th? Because until we're sure, I'm not booking my flight tickets.
Kels, when are you in London?

Yes, we are sure for the 15th. At this point in time, I am getting to London either the evening of the 14th or the morning of the 15th. I think I'm gonna try to hit up somewhere new in the meantime, though I don't know where that might be quite yet.

Also, can someone re-post train directions to the pub for myself and anyone else who needs them. I got there once, but I can guarantee I will be stumped in getting back there.

barrington
25-06-2008, 10:33 PM
Alright, lets make it final then.
OMGWTFKKWBBQ confirmed for Saturday 9th August 2008 from 5pm onwards.

Venue is The Cricketers in Richmond, London. Take the District Line (the green one) to Richmond. Upon exiting the station turn left and follow the road around the gentle curve to the right. After about 200m walk past Tesco and make a right-turn down the alleyway with the White Stuff shop on it. That'll take you onto Richmond Green. The Cricketers is one of the last pubs on the left. If you get lost, ask anyone... it's well known. We'll probably be upstairs. Or outside. Or on the green.

I will actually post this on the website itself and see how many randoms we can get to turn up!

Kelsey
26-06-2008, 04:47 AM
Getting there was easier than I remembered. Last time I got off the train, asked this old lady where the pub was and she walked me right to the door, telling me about her kids the whole way there. Very nice experience. Anyways, I will be there at 5p.

Foeni
26-06-2008, 12:54 PM
So - anyone wants to hang out and see London in the days up to the 15th? It's kinda expensive going to London for just one night out?

I'm currently considering whether or not to go. If it's only for the bbq, I'm not spending the 300/$600/€400 for one night out.

Interesting y'all pick the same weekend as my family reunion. We hold what we have named the "Pig Pickin' " each summer. This year on cousin's farm in Yoakum, Texas on Sat.-Sun 8/16-8/17. We roast a large 200-300lb hog: start w/ beer dinking Saturday as soon a we show up, start fire for hog around sunset, place hog on fire after dark, drink more beer, sing songs around campfire, more beer, flip the pig over & pick it's ribs that are done about 3AM...hence event named " Pig Pickin' ", shoot guns, cook the other side, tell tall tales, mmm beer. The few who are sober may attend mass Sunday morning. Then lunch is served smetime Sunday afternoon, hugs, kisses...See y'all back next year.
If any of you will be in South Texas that weekend, you're welcome to attend. PM me for directions, etc. Warning: first-time guests are requested to kiss the pig, before we put it on the fire. { Go figure: Red-neck tradition. }

Bon appetite!

barrington

Just reading through this again I am wondering if we should've change it to Saturday 9th? Since friday is a bit of a gimpy time to host a social event. People coming after work have to get home and change, then go to Richmond. If we do sat 9th then we have a higher chance of people coming due to not having to take a day off work.... kels can still attend, so can ice... and anyone else. Shall we change it?#

edit: having spoken with Kelsey (since really the date restrictions ride with her) we decided that it would be better to change the bbq to the 9th... i don't think anyone has bought an international ticket anyway, so I'm changing the date. If anyone has an incredible problem with this (like you're paid up in First Class on Air New Zealand) then let us know.

It's a little bit more expensive, but you can technically get one in about a week and a half. Is there an embassy near you?

Mandy

How would I even know? I live in the middle of nowhere in Kansas. In a prairie.

Kelsey
30-06-2008, 05:20 AM
I don't know all of the details on getting an expedited passport, but I know people who have done it and it is possible, and relatively painless. Just browsing the website for a few minutes I found that you can get one in about two weeks:

***Expedite Service: If you apply for your passport today and request Expedited Passport Processing, you can expect to receive your passport in 2 weeks door-to-door. Effective June 16, 2008, the Department’s standard for expedited passport processing completion, as defined in 22 CFR 51.56, is five business days from either: 1) receipt of your passport application at a Passport Agency/Center; or 2) if the passport application is already at a Passport Agency/Center, the date your request for expedited passport processing is approved. Expedited passport processing is considered complete when the passport is ready to be picked by an applicant or when it is put in the mail to the applicant.

Browse this website...you may not even need to visit an embassy:
http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/processing/processing_1740.html

Maybe when you go to the post office (or wherever) to get your passport application, there is a place on the application for expedited service.

Dear Mandy, Try the closest local U.S. Post Office. I live in a small town in Texas and our little local post office has applications, takes pictures, prints them up and will expedite for an additonal charge. If not at your local post office...How far to Topeka, Wichita, Kansas City, or other biger town?
Try: http://www.usps.com/passport/
Has a link to locate nearest Post Office...Got a Zip code?
Hope you getter done.
Good luck & God Bless,

I'm hoping I can make this. I'm in Essex, so not too far, and I would like to meet up with everyone. Please reserve me the seat next to Keira.

I hate you all...

Since my battery died in my phone.. my ds, and my ipod on the way back, I resorted to mathmatics to keep myself entertained.

I spent 13 of the last 51 hours on Britains public transport infrastructure (that's over a quater of my weekend)
12 hours sleeping
9 hours drinking
4 hrs deciding how long I could stay in bed before coming home
....and 3 hours waiting for Peach to get ready.

And I'm also 320 worse off :p
