Hey All,

Been awhile for me...hope everyone is doing well...

I am planning a year in Africa and was wondering if anyone has been, or could offer any advice or must-dos. The plan is in the first stages of development, but right now the basic plan is Cape Town to Jerusalem.

Seriously though, have fun. And please stay safe.

Been three weeks in west Africa and it seriously changed my life.
know a lot of people that go there.
Have friends there.
Have lost a lot of friends there. (died of aids, malaria,...)
My parents go almost every year to west Africa (no luxery hotel trips, but living in the slums with the people that have become friends over the years).
Love the continent and would like to go back some time. :)

Are you planning to go on your own?

Wow, that's awesome. Right now the plan is not to be alone, my cousin is going with me. No luxury hotels for us either...we're planning a total cultural, eye-opening experience.

West Africa is probably the part I am most unsure about, just because most of my research so far has been spent on Southern and Central Africa. What countries did you go to, and what countries do your parents go to?

WOW, very cool I love Africa, in this summer i go to Mozambique , Cape Verde and Caribbeans..

In addition, don't stay in Africa because you are sick, you need very vacines , to protect you... yes?

My cousin is female.

For some of the countries, we'll be travelling by ourselves. We'll be doing a few overland tours, but we are on a budget, so not a lot of those. Places like Congo, Algeria, Nigeria are not on the To Do list, but we're set on Egypt, and we'll be joining a tour group. In Jordan I have a good family friend, andhopefully everyone will be nice in Jerusalem.
