Because I know how slow people are at arranging these kind of things around here, I'm going to start this topic at this early point. That also gives us an opportunity to have it in the summer if we like (so it might be a barbecue this year). So, erm.. Discuss. Any ideas - who/where/when?

I have no idea what a Omgwtfkkwbbq is. Care to enlighten me?

Mandy

It's where a bunch of members get together and perform lewd acts on Baz. Not until after getting completely trashed, mind you. Pity I missed the last one.

I still don't get it. Is it a real BBQ, something online, wtf??? :icon_conf

It's a real BBQ.

There used to be photos, but I've got no idea where they've gone.

Foeni

It's the annual bbq. Hasn't been a barbecue that last two years, though. Last year was eating at a restaurant and ending up drinking store-bought wine in a playground. I wasn't feeling good the day after - I wonder why..

Ahh, the notorious OMGWTFKKWPUB. My suggestion for the next one is more people and more booze.

barrington
25-03-2007, 03:48 AM
And probably no food at all.

I miss barbeque...
Beer sounds good though

Foeni
05-04-2007, 08:45 PM
This was meant as a serious attempt to try and get something sorted out - maybe something in the summer to increase the chance of an actual BBQ, but I guess this will be as well planned as it has been the last three years :icon_err:

EDIT: I'm moving this to the OBN, hoping it will get more attention.

Foeni
13-05-2007, 06:39 PM
So, does anyone know when their holiday is? or is there even an interest in having the bbq in the summer?
I need to get off work in order to go and that can be hard in the middle of the summer if I don't ask pretty soon.

Leonie
13-05-2007, 08:27 PM
I can't make it, just so you know.

Foeni
13-05-2007, 09:11 PM
It's quite "hard" to plan in advance, i don't have to work the first two weeks of august if I'm not mistaking but to be honest i don't feel like making promises or book tickets far ahead.
Heh, I know what you mean. Problem is, we're not that many at work and everyone wants the good weeks. So I thought that those who study have holiday most of the summer and might know when they're away ;) I only have 3 weeks in the summer so I have to get off work in advance. Can't just tell teh boss 3 days before that I'm not coming :p

Sadly it won't be at my house again this year since I am entirely lacking a garden or any kind of public space whatsoever. However I propose an OMGWTFKKWPub on Saturday 14th July in Richmond.

how many hours do I need to reach Richmond, London from Moscow on bicycle + I can swim fastly?

Porcelain_Doll
03-06-2007, 09:15 PM
:icon_lol: probably less than the hours I'll have to swim/bike.

I really don't know why I'm even reading this thread, the only bbq I'll (perhaps) be able to attend is the 2009 or 2010 one. :(

edit: at least I'll be legal by then :p

14th is going to be a bit of a problem for me what with training and other things.
Might I suggest the following saturday, the 21st instead? We need to get this nailed down pretty soon... maybe even push it back until the more traditional August to allow proper publicity time and international bookings.

Foeni
09-06-2007, 04:34 PM
Maybe late august, beginning of september is better. Probably will be for me..

I think we're going to have to postpone this due to lack of interest/motivation/organisation. Maybe later in the year. I've just broken up with Mrs Baz and am moving away from london for a month or two, so it's not the best time for me either. More when we have it I suppose.

Foeni

This time simply wasn't the best for me. In most other weekends in most months (december is out of the question) I can make sure I have the time if we arrange in good time ahead (work relations and all). Should we set a date in november already?

Sorry to hear about the break-up mate.

You people suck. We went from having a proper BBQ the first year to a grill the second (due to poor planning) to pizza the third (again, due to poor planning) to a potential liquid BBQ (because we finally realised we suck at planning these things) to no BBQ at all. Well, as I told Peach on the phone, I hereby begin a campaign to "Save our BBQ". It's tradition!

That makes things easier for me, seeing as I don't drink. Anyhow, if you do insist on bbq, I'll have to order a salad, I'm currently a veggie.
So if by any chance I'm in the UK in 2009+, count me in. :p

Ok, well, since it's getting late in the year and weather is changing I vote we don't actually have a proper BBQ this year (even though I think we should aim to do a proper one next year, because I think going out to eat takes away some of the fun). So long as everyone's cool with that, what do you guys think on the eat/don't eat thing? I know a great BBQ restaurant in London, AMAZING food (best BBQ food ever), very reasonably priced, so if we want to do BBQ food without the hassle that might do it. If we just want to get pissed I say we just pick a date and go and get pissed.

When I think London, I think the epitome of culture, theatre, commerce, fashion and fish and chips.
Barbeque isn't the first thing that springs to mind.
Now...Jerusalem Heights, just outside of Tuscaloosa, Alabama...makes me think 'barbeque'. Hell, there's a place up the street from the office called Jazzy's that'll make your mouth water from across the street.

Brad, it's American-owned, American-run, and I've taken big time American BBQ fans there and they've gone home raving about it. My friend Alex came over from Cinci to go to Uni, was gutted when I took him there saying he wished I'd taken him there sooner as their ribs were awesome.

It's pretty much slap bang out of the States. They even have American sports on.
