can anyone fluent in German tell me why the hell my pc has suddenly started telling me this on boot up...

Well it's got something to do with this:

"Invalid system data medium changes and runway pressures"

Translates roughly as 'invalid system disk or disk error'.

If you were running 98 I'd suggest booting to DOS with a boot disk and running /SYS on the drive, but I dont know what the procedure is in XP or Vista.

I'd just format it.

It sounds like "invalid system swap the data carrier and press any key," to me, but then I'm not good at nerdspeak or German.

PS. In retrospect, that would then of course be more like what Liam said: "invalid system disk, swap and press any key." That's what it would be if it were all in one line, anyway. The line break threw me off.

why on earth is my pc sudenly throwing up german error messages, when everything else is in english?

I depends where the Computer was assambeled, or where some components are made in. OR what kind of Xp version it is

its nothing to do with the bits, as its never done it before.

We have a printer that speaks Norwegian (we think).
Nice, mine does too :D even if thats not a big thing (or a surprise). I still prefer my OS in english.
