Spare a thought for the 21-year-old Citigroup intern who has a placement in the company's Real Estate Equity Group in London, and whose birthday invite to her friends found it's way onto the internet and has done the rounds at investment banks all around the world. We at Here Is The City received a number of copies of the e-mail. We have confirmed it is authentic.
advertisment
We're still not sure whether this e-mail was meant tongue-in-cheek, so we shouldn't be too hard on the young lady concerned. It has created quite a stir, though, and is another example of why staff (even interns) need to think carefully before they put anything out on e-mail. When the fuss dies down, we think Citigroup should offer the intern a job. Whether the e-mail was meant in jest or not, we like her style. She's a hire!
Here's the mail:

9.45pm: (list of 4 names)
10pm: (list of 6 names)'.
Finally, it's not just a Citigroup intern who has made the news. According to The New York Observer, a Lehman Brothers intern had quite a time of it at the firm. 'On my floor, there were two interns', he said. 'So the VP proposed a hot-dog eating contest. So the challenge was to eat 15 dirty-water dogs in 20 minutes and to hold it down for an hour. There were lots of bets placed and taken. We stood to make about $200 each if we succeeded. After about 10 hot dogs, the other intern started looking sick and ran off to the bathroom. I managed to finish and regretted it for the rest of the day. So disgusting. But at least I got the cash'. That intern should go far!! Another definite hire.
LMFAO!!
Initially distributed by my good friend Olek, this email has spread around the internet within about 24 hours. Please spread it between any forums you can.
Oh and her name etc has been blanked out.
Her name is Lucy Gao: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,630-2327707.html
