Kinda like the random picture thread but instead of pictures, random links to anything interesting or funny. Much better than starting "Youtube" threads or having individual threads anything remotely funny crops up on the net that doesn't deserve discussion.

A little World Cup themed game for everyone:

I was gonna put it there but... i didn't feel like waiting for the right click menu to come up and to hit "copy" because they my computer would stall and it'd take like a minute to do that. Pffft, i'd like to your high-five.

There are typically nine rings in a classic set of Chinese rings; if a player makes no mistakes, the puzzle requires 341 moves to solve. Mr. Slocum can solve it in three to four minutes.

But on a table next to the Sunday box sat a version with 65 rings. A perfect solution in that case would take 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 moves, Mr. Slocum said. “Assuming one move every second, that would be 56 billion years, or four times the age of the universe,” he said.

Freaky.

This debate is never going to cease pissing me off. Don't read the article, it's boring. Summary: it's about teachers being instructed not to say "good boy/girl" anymore, but instead focus on the actual performance, to avoid gender stereotyping, followed by a discussion of "has political correctness gone too far" (simple answer? yes). Yeah. Anyways, there are some winners in the discussion below.

it looks like a household cat, but it's still lovely. When I was in Iguaz, they told us to watch out for "gatos monteses", mountain cats. They were everywhere, and I would've wanted to see one, only the many turists frighten them to the centre of the jungle, so they very rarely come close.

The biggest cats down here are feral ones that've run away or been "set free" by stupid owners. They have a rich diet of native birds and small marsupials and grow freaking huge.
I was considering posting a link to a picture of a man with a rifle standing proudly over a dead feral cat that I found (the picture not the cat), but that would be insensitive.

Ceiling Height May Affects Problem-Solving Skills

...seriously!

"'When people are in a room with a high ceiling, they activate the idea of freedom. In a low-ceilinged room, they activate more constrained, confined concepts.' Either can be good. The concept of freedom promotes information processing that encourages greater variation in the kinds of thoughts one has, said Meyers-Levy, professor of marketing at the University of Minnesota. The concept of confinement promotes more detail-oriented processing."
