Or, as I like to call it, Mexican St. Patrick's Day.
Anyone going to drink until they puke?

Liz Phair, "Cinco de Mayo"....

Cinco de mayo, blowout, denial
It wasn't fun this time, letting you go
What if I never, a bullet forever,
Held out my hand to you?
We wouldn't have known beautiful flow

Absolute measure, I ain't no pleasure hound
Bus out of control, ploughing the road
Out on a bender
Just Alice falling down a deepening hole

I'd never been to Rome until you smiled
You're about as old and piled

Used to pray for snow
Now I just wonder
What spell I was under
Thinking you thought of me as something to hold

I'd never been to Rome until you smiled
You're about as old and piled

Cinco de mayo, burn-out Ohio
It wasn't me this time letting you go

Enchiladas for lunch!

Is this really the Netherlands' independence day too?

edit: Wiki ftw! Thanks to Canada for liberating the Dutch. Yay Canada!

Yeah, you're welcome, Leonie.
We would have done it ourselves, but we were a bit busy getting ally pilots out of the sea and smuggling them back to England :icon_razz

Seriously though, good job, and thanks. After all, we lasted a mere 4 days in fighting...

It seriously annoys me when they block a whole fucking street of so they can celebrate. They dont do that shit for anyone else.

Look, if they didn't block off the street, Mexicans would just take it over anyway. Be glad there isn't pure chaos!

Actually, Mexicans don't celebrate cinco de mayo like we think they do.

Like St Patty's Day in Ireland, very low key except for the tourist traps.

St. Patrick's Day is religious more than a let's go get crap faced and pass out.
At least it was when I was there on St. Pat's. We went to church which was PACKED, got in an argument with a lady who was not kind to the non-Irish and not just Americans... non-Irish in general, and then went and saw where there was an apparition of Mary.

I'd imagine Cinco de Mayo to be something like the 4th of July.... but I'm probably wrong... I usually am.

No, their independence day is September 16th. Basically is IS just "get shit-faced" day.

It should actually be an American holiday because the battle that took place in Mexico on the fifth of May deterred the French from invading the West of the US. The Battle of Puebla, I think.

I went to Portland's Cinco De Mayo celebration - ate carne asade quesadilla w/rice and beans but didn't have a cerveza. Won my nephew a stuffed animal at the fair part then went home and chilled.

Yeah I just heard that today after I asked someone.
