It is kinda early to start mentioning this but my school's prom is this weekend. I honestly don't see the point in paying $300+ for all the shit but I guess it's a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing. And I was just stupid enough to ask my date if she had any feelings for me. Rejected. Hah.

Any crazy prom stories?

I'm not going to buy a new prom dress this year, the fashions are totally stupid and boring.

I doubt I'll even go. I don't have a date, and the prom at my school is lame from what I've heard.

Our senior class council requested that Bryn-Alan send two photographers to take pictures at our prom. They did. But they only sent one camera. :banghead:
Stood in line most of the night.
Then got drunk and not laid.

I skipped prom. On one hand I'm upset I didn't get to do the whole experience, but on the other hand I got to hang out with my best friends and just go around the city and do other more fun shit. Then we went to that post-prom school gathering from like 1 - 6 am, which was pretty fun.

Awwwwww I loved prom. As a girl, it's really one of the best parts of high school.

Well my junior year, shopping for prom sucked because I was living by myself for about a month while my dad was in the hospital and my mom was with him in Denver, Colorado. My mom was sending me money each month. It was super hard shopping for prom without my mom, but one of the secretaries that worked at the from desk at my school took me shopping, lol. It was kind of weird, but she was really nice and told me she had 2 boys and never got to shop with a girl. She even paid for my prom dress.

Then the day before prom, I learned that my dad died. I still went to prom the next night, but I guess I was ok...it really hadn't sunk in yet.

Anyway, my senior year rocked and so did my dress.

We don't have proms or anything remotely close to that, we don't get to buy fancy dresses or anything like that. But there are parties, the best ones are usually after our last exams of HS (French A levels I guess), my friends got together to play basketball and drink champagne, I got to work.

Prom is a fucking stupid name.

Yeah, but "Lame Evening of Funnelling Money, Hand Over Fist, Into a Bottomless Pit" is kind of wordy for the posters.

I did like three proms and it cost me 40dollar or something

There was an article in the paper the other day about girls spending thousands on proms. :err:

I loved prom I only did it my senior year it was so much fun I just enjoyed getting all dressed up one of my favorite moments of HS. The only thing that was crazy but kinda made since if you were someone who cared was at all the stores in town they had lists of girls and what dresses they were wearing to what schools prom. They wouldn't sell you a dress if someone already had it for your prom. Which I thought was totaly ridiculous. But I dunno they might do that everywhere...

It was crazy some girls paying 700 to 800 dollars for a dress that's extreme

I didn't go to Prom. I asked a good guy-friend to go with me but he decided to go with my ex-best friend, Jill...and that's not why she became an ex-bestfriend. I went to the movies with my mom and saw "City of Angels" cuz I loved Meg Ryan at the time...it was cool just hanging with my mom. I wouldn't have liked getting all dolled up anyway...I'm in no way shape or form a girly girl and trying to imagine myself in a prom dress makes me laugh. *cracks up*

Yes you are. But in a masculine way.

I never spent that much on prom personally. Both my dresses were $200 or less and I did my own hair and makeup. But it was my parents' $200.

LOLL, FREAKS! as a student i have to work like a month five days a week to earn 1300 dollars there is no way i would spend it on a prom, but than again i'm not a girl :p

Yeah, they aren't spending their own money. Watch that steaming piece of excrement, My Super Sweet 16 on MTV to see where this attitude comes from. They act like it's Oscar night.

My mum and I went dress shopping, but I couldn't find anything I liked, so we spent about a hundred euros on fabric and my mum made me the most awesome, custom made dress in the fabric and style I picked. My best friend's mum is a hairdresser and she did my hair. I don't think I've ever used that much hairspray either before or since. It did its magic, my hair looked good all night. We met up at my best friend's house with about 10 or so girls, did our own and each other's make up. I remember getting tricked into helping everyone with purchasing make up a week before or something. They cornered me! :icon_bigg I don't know why people thought I knew what I was doing, I rarely ever wear make up. I say I did a decent enough job though :)

At my school, it's tradition that there's a competition in getting to your prom in the most original way, which lead to me and a bunch of friends arriving in the back of a truck filled with balloons.

The prom itself was really good, lots of dancing, decent enough music (hey, it's a prom, you can't be too picky) and mostly nice people.

Edit: Lookie (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v117/leonietje/KKW/prom.jpg), it's my dress! (it was being silly here, making me look pregnant, but it really is an AWESOME dress) (I'm on the right btw. And not actually pregnant. Win.)

Prom my junior year was fun, I went with my best guy friend as my date and a big group of us went to Kansas City and ate at a really nice casino/restaurant. Then we went to prom, had a good time. After prom sucked, the party didn't go as planned and I got stuck in some weird guys basement sleeping on a lumpy pull out couch with my date who somehow slept fine. I woke up in the mmiddle of the night to see some glowing orbs floating around the room, turns out with the the guy who lived in house's sister who loved glow in the dark jewlery.... it was weird.

Senior prom rocked, I went with the wrestling team captain, we had a great time. We had dinner at the dance, then danced, then went out. Very good time. He drove a nice car that night too, even though it was like 40 degrees and he insisted on having the convertible top down. Eh fun time anyway.

I never spent much on my dresses, I think the most was like $150, maybe. I still have them around, they're fun to look at. My junioir prom oone was pink, I loved it. Senior one was red and the left strap broke halfway through the night, but that seems to happen all the time. Someone's strap always breaks.

They're called Formals here, and my one sucked.
I think I spent more money on alcohol that nite, then I did on my suit.
