It's a celebration of St. Patrick ridding Ireland of snakes, how snakes could've survived in that weather, I have no clue. Generally people in USA drink green beer, eat corned beef, stewed potatoes, and I dunno what else. I'm full-blooded American but my "ethnicity" is Irish and Welsh so I get away with not wearing green on March 17th because I threaten anyone who tempts to pinch me arse!
