Err. I said "art". I think it was pretty self-explanatory. :icon_roll

Aww man. I was just having a send-up of Brad, he knew it. I mean the dude's almost my namesake! Us Hassels and Hazzles gotta stick together. But hey, if you want to see my world-beating art, sure, I'll put up some stuff. It's mainly like "covering" (not sure what the artistic term is) existing art-work by drawing/painting it myself. Largely of the comic-book variety. If I get a chance this weekend I'll put some up.

Haha, so I wasn't the only one? :icon_redf I swore initially that Brad was taking the piss by googling winnie the pooh pics but when I looked closer I could see he hadn't done and they were actually just very good pictures.

It's a side business I'm starting. People make a lot of money painting shit that looks horrible, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

And, I knew Haz was fucking with me, hence the gay joke. ;)

Thank you.
That's actually the first thing I've painted since college. I never considered myself very good with a brush, more of a pencil and charcoal guy. I am starting a trompe l'oeil of a Savannah window scene for my mother and a jungle and surf scene for my cousin's little boys. Hopefully, this will give me enough of a portfolio to start getting paying jobs doing murals.

Bah, I can't find my old stuff. Must've got shunted into boxes when the builders were in.

I shall haff to do some fresh art for you. When I have time.

And Hassel, you use pastels at all? If you like using charcoal, you might find that pastels are your bag. I like doing a lot in pastels and charcoal, most of my best stuff is in pastels and charcoal.

I have a strange aversion to pastels. When I was in the ninth grade, I did this Picassoesque pastel drawing that took about fifteen minutes. It was more of a doodle to fill time in art class, but my artsy-fartsy teacher loved it. When we had a school wide art show, juried in part by one of her artsy-fartsy professor friends from the University of Tampa, she insisted I enter it. I did, along with a charcoal drawing of the grille of a 1956 Cadillac that had won Best In Show at the Strawberry Festival (Hillsborough County Fair)...and had taken me several months to complete.
So, you can imagine my shock (and horror) when I saw the Best In Show ribbon hanging on something that I knew to be nothing more than a doodle. I was devestated, and frankly, gave up on art at that point. It was at that point I realized skill, talent and proficiency were secondary to attitude and a wardrobe featuring black.
Yes, I can hold a grudge. ;)

That sucks. I don't do a lot of doodling with pastels, I use them, together with charcoal, to make colour equivalents of proper charcoal drawings. I draw stuff, do shading, highlights, the usual, spend ages on it, but instead of doing it mono with just charcoal, I use pastels.

I used them for my GCSE (that's an exam at 16 for our non-Brit friends) Art and it came out pretty well I thought. Still only got B *grumbles*. But that was better than the D I got for my painting in the mock exam. Glad I switched! ;)
