Oh no, you said her name... I hate Hilary Duff, and her lame-ass movie coming out. But you're young, so I'll give it to you. My favorite bands have always been "The Beatles, "The Beach Boys", "Buddy Holly", and/or more recent "Evanescence"... I'm going through that phase.

Muse - Hullabaloo is rocking me atm, as is Steve Vai.
Avril's new album is catchy, but nothing on 'Master of puppets'
And the Kill Bill 2 soundtrack is awesome.

I bought Keane's Hopes and Fears album. Quite worth it. Some of the songs on the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack also rock my socks.

Mmmm ... John Frusciante. I adore him. I take it that if you like him (and Jane's Addiction), that you like the Chili Peppers as well, then?

That's who I've been listening to the most lately. I've been one of their biggest fans since the early 90's, but I just got back into them in a big way. Just bought their new greatest hits CD/DVD: great stuff; it's got all their music videos and lots of backstage and concert footage. They are truly one of the greatest bands of our generation.

EDIT: Haha, silly me. I just got a glimpse of your profile: lyrics from "Roadtrippin'". Answered my own question.

EDIT # 2: Haha, okay. Now there's something in your post about the Red Hots themselves, which either was not there before, or I just completely missed it, heh.

Wow, My Name. It's really nice to see someone else that listens to Django. Or even knows who he is, really.

The only people in my life right now that I can talk about him with are some of the older folks that frequent the restaurant I work at.

me and jacoby were talking about emo earlier and how I am the closest thing to emo, musically. I listen to some emo but I dont look like one of those Hot topic fruits.

If I put Fugazi, The Hot Water Music, Basically anything off the Deep Elm Record Company, Emery, Mineral.....Then I'd be emo.

At the drive in I guess counts. They're to odd for a genre. I think Jacoby is emo.

I think Jacoby is emo.

I hate you.
The bands I like are so far from Emo...like |................ this ................. | far from Emo.......whatever Kyle...don't make me post that Emo pic to clarify. I'm listening to Ben Kweller right now, and Vetiver...both Indie, not emo. I'm also listening to Ugly Cassanova. Neutral Milk Hotel, Velvet Underground, Nick Drake, Beck, Manitoba, Elliot Smith, The Shins, Death Cab, Postal Service, Red House Painters, Iron & Wine, and a few others. All those bands are not emo by the way. Boo yah.

So you can go back and listen to Fire Burn Monday or whatever poopemo you listen to. lots of <3!

//Edit: Kyle and myself won't fight again. We settled our differences and are currently dating. He kisses weird.

15-07-2004, 02:06 AM
haha I was hoping you'd react like that. I got a good kick out of it and if someone mistakes you for emo you snap....funny.

Gracie is sooooo emo. Emo now sucks, everything is the same. Plus bands taht don't sound emo are mistaken for emo.....Dashboard Confessional for Gods sake. I also dont consider these hardcore emo or post emo indie different. I add them all into the simple genre emo.

I used to like the Get up kdis but they lick ass. O screw it I'll make an emo thread instead of raining on keira loves lipgloss's thread

On side note, I just got back from a Nickleback, 3
doors down, and puddle of mudd concert. It rocked. 3doors down did really good. They are quickly becoming a favorite for the moment. I also had the chance to meet the members of Puddle of Mudd backstage and get my CD signed. It was an awesome night.

You guys have some fucking awesome tastes in music. The Bens rule, Jacoby! Ben Folds is from my hometown, I love him so much. Currently, my favorite bands are probably Diverse (underground rap) and The Libertines (sort of a British version of The Strokes)

I've been moving from genre to genre since I got to Berkeley. Originally into the post-Radiohead groups of Coldplay, Travis, and Keane, I have swung from listening to Radiohead themselves to indie bands as Death Cab for Cutie, the Stills, and the Shins, to 'chill' music as Aqualung and Zero 7, and currently in a blues-metal phase (which includes Cream and Zeppelin).

If you want chill music, you listen to Vetiver's "On a Nerve".
And what up marry, The Libertines are niiiiiice. Strokes, too. I saw them live in May and the venue was so tiny. Julians balls were seriously in my face. It was awesome...(not the balls part, but the show in general.)

Err...no. They don't sound alike, and err...The Strokes suck whereas The Libertines fucking rule. End of.

That's what YOU say. I happen to think Jacoby liked balls in his face...

Strokes still suck dude.

For me...a wide variety of stuff, as always. A fair whack of Radiohead, big fan of Broken by Seether which has Amy Lee on vocals...Aqualung gets a fair bit of play, a bit of Slipknot (LUFF0R duality), the old favourites such as Nirvana and Metallica still get regular plays. My current favourite album right now is Razorlight's "Up All Night". One of the best albums released this year. Oh, and I take a fair whack of DR's advice on music these days so there's a bit of Shins, Stills and Dashboard thrown in too...some Beck, Badly Drawn Boy...basically I'm not constrained by genres, personally. If it’s good, I’ll listen to it, and my moods fluctuate so much I tend to like having a wide variety of songs at my disposal.

Oooh…my tip for surprise success in 2004/2005 are an English band on the rise by the name of Thirteen Senses. Happen to think Razorlight will go over BIG time in the States too.

I've gotten into Robert Randolph & The Family Band recently. Their style is funk/blues/rock/jazz influenced, but not restricted by or limited to any genre. I am impressed with Robbie's skill on pedal-steel guitar. Many may think of boring old country music style picking & sliding when you say steel guitar, but Robbie Randolph can tear up some kickass string-bending & lightning-fast rock licks on many of their tunes. One may think, "Wasn't that a Jimi Hendrix or Eddie VanHalen lick he just covered in that jazz tune?" Makes me want to make the 6 hour drive / road trip to New Orleans to check them out next time they play there...
Old fart saying--->>> "Doesn't anybody actually play musical instruments any more, or do all these punks just have their daddies pay to hire musicians & program their synth-o-crap & drum machines while they lip-sync & pretend to sing to some music that someone else wrote & performed?" I can't help it I was born in the year the Beatles invaded the US, 1964.
Anyway, check out Robert Randolph & The Family Band, maybe you will like it.
Peace,
(-: SeventhSon :-)

wooo! go Interpol! Don't they have a new CD out? "Antics" I think it's called. Secret Machines are really good also. But Scissor Sisters? Those guys are kind of creepy.

what...yes weird but still, they got the whole elton john feel to the song 'take your mama'. creepy? no.

everyone i know doesn't mind the corrs. nobody goes out of their way to listen to their music, but if a song plays then everyone's just like "yeah, i like this."

I drove over 20 hours in two days to see them in concert. And I loved EVERY MINUTE OF IT... that I can remember. I was in a daze after actually meeting them.

I've gotten into Radiohead in the past few days. Still don't think they're anywhere near being musical geniuses.

And it's 3am...ask me when I'm more awake I would list a lot more...I'm just tired. DR, please help me out, it's a much more reasonable hour at your end of the world :p

Well that's fair enough. But they are one of, if not THE most iconic inspirational band of the 90's.

I second that - Radiohead are brilliant. I'd like to add Where I End and You Begin to the list, as well as Karma Police. Woah... Radiohead.

Death Cab For Cutie is awesome. I love The Postal Service also. Too bad that annoying dumbass guy "borrowed" my Transatlanticism cd. Another group I just thought of is RJD2. You might like them, Hazzel since you like Blackalicious. Oh, and The X-Ecutioners. And I do like Radiohead I just haven't heard anything too distinctive of theirs that shows their "genius".

Incubus is awesome! Haven't gotten a chance to get their latest cd yet but the others are great.

Just bought another cd to add to my way-too-big collection. It's self-titled by a band called "Ok Go". It's kind of nerd rock but with a pretty poppy feel. I was turned off at first by its poppy-ness but it's just so catchy. Some of you might have heard "Get Over It" in the Madden NFL 2004.

Rammstein - Reise, Reise. Possibly my album of the year.

Aside from endless musical muscle from those pyromaniac scamps, I'm playing a bit of Dillinger Escape Plan (new album rocks) and Green Day.

Oh, and Muse. But they never leave the playlist.
