Rammstein - Reise, Reise. Possibly my album of the year.

Aside from endless musical muscle from those pyromaniac scamps, I'm playing a bit of Dillinger Escape Plan (new album rocks) and Green Day.

Oh, and Muse. But they never leave the playlist.

Modest Mouse is such a weird band. They're good, but they're...different. I only have one of their cds but it always seemed to me that they don't have a definite sound but yet you can always tell when a song is by Modest Mouse (probably because Isaac Brock's voice is so incredibly strange).

Other awesome bands: The Notwist, The Stratford 4, Lola Ray, Mando Diao, The Dandy Warhols, Guster, Ambulance LTD (which everybody in the world should have to listen to)

The Unicorns. Crazy tastey Canadian Pop-ish band. Don't be discouraged when I say "pop". I don't mean teenie-bob pop, I mean the real, gangta-ass pop (http://www.popmatters.com).

Who else am I listening to? Sigur Ros, that's who. And I found my Zeppelin Zoso album (IV). So nice.

Going through a serious Dire Straits phase at the moment. I love the guitar-y bits. Mark Knopler = awesome. Gg childhood sentiment. Many a car journey to Spain was accompanied by Mark and his mates. Telegraph Road... /me sings.

Muse, The Corrs, I have a new love of Howie Day after seeing him in concert. He seriously knows every sound a guitar can make. He's incredible, if you get the chance to see him in concert go. For serious.

Edit: and Nada Surf. Check out "Inside of Love" and "Blonde on Blonde"

I've heard of Mojave 3. A little too quiet for my liking, or at least what I've heard of them. I can only take a certain number of quiet bands before it gets old.

Faithless rules, Flightfreak!!! I really want to get that cd. "Mass Destruction" is such a good song. Ahh I love British music.

Leonie
20-11-2004, 07:42 AM
Faithless, very nice. Better than the crap I spent all day listening to yesterday (angry chick music). *gets CD*

As for the No Roots album, I especially like song #9, the one where Dido sings along, the one with a bit of guitar in there. Prolly because I'm a rock fan who likes Dido :icon_razz

The Haz is listening to a lot of Drowning Pool and Slipknot as I write this. In a bit of a "Fuck the world" mood...yah...if life wants to fuck with me then I'll fuck with it back...I'm a fucking fighter. Those things that are worth it are worth beating any obstacles for, no? Whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, and fuck that, I ain't letting nothing kill me just yet. Got plenty more lives to terrorise ;) ARRRRR...fuck the game, I don't play by the rules.

Oh yeah, Mags knows where it's at. I first heard of that Travis song from the Garden State site. The guitar at the beginning kicks ass. Kudos Mags.

I've been listening to a bit of Death Cab lately, from their album Transatlanticism. The track "The Sound of Settling" is stuck in my head.

I actually have Leonie to thank for it because she got me to download the Singles album. Love that song. I'd heard it before, but yeah, then the Garden State website and general awesome-ness have earned it a place on the playlist.

Lets see...right now, this minute, I'm listening to Shakira...but not that ass-tastic English stuff which sounds like badly translated movie dialogue, but the Spanish stuff which I quasi-understand.

Slayer - God Send Death.

Its heavy, angry and aggressive enough to rinse that Powderfinger shit from my ears. The chorus is surprisingly fitting for Powderfinger listening: "God send death, end misery".

I got the best of Pearl Jam CD for Christmas, it alright. All the songs sound the same to me though.

I'm currently listening to (and loving) Megadeth's latest offering, The System Has Failed and is one of my favourite albums to come out this year.

I'm also counting down the days until the release of American Head Charge's new album to come out. You can download the latest single off of their site (www.headcharge.com).

Oh and I've also got tickets for the System of a Down concert in Melbourne which happens next year. I would of gone see them at BDO, but I'm not to keen on some of the other acts performing this year.

Elliott Smith

After watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for the umpteenth time, Smith's "Clementine" from his self-titled seems to ring much better than any other song on that soundtrack. Also, "Rose Parade" from Either/Or reflects best the melancholy mood of my Cal Golden Bears' failed run at the Rose Bowl.

Within Temptation. I'm not normally a fan of 'gothy' (female singer dressed strangely) bands but WT kick 7 shades of shit out of phonies like Evanescence. Not only is it heavier and darker, but Sharon den Adel can sing rings around Amy Lee. And she is much hotter too. :D

The new Nightwish album isnt too bad either. Not as good as WT, but its very playable.

Also listening to some old school stuff - Motorhead, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix etc.
