Yayz!

Seriously, what about Clive Owen? He seems to have that rugged quality that every Bond since Connery lacked.

Matthew MacFayden? Maybe. I stand firmly in the 'Anyone But Bloom' camp but my personal choice would be Colin Salmon (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0758760/).

They should kill off the series now. Surely the not quite as bad as many say but still brain numbingly shit Die Another Day was evidence for this? And the fact that while the old films remain watchable anything more recent is often tiresome come the second time round.

And if they do anything so offensive as to go further than the distinctly unamazing Halle Berry doing a version of the definately amazing Ursula Andress walk up the beach in a bikini, then I'll be mighty pissed off.

I am not a Bond fan, but as a film fan in general... NOT Clive Owen. For all that is holy in Hollywood, not Clive Owen. Have you seen King Arthur? The lead role would have been better cast if they had a brick playing it. Or was it actually a brick that they painted his face on? One of the Muppets would have made a better King Arthur.

He was mediocre in Sin City, which was well above expectations, so good on ya, Clive. Just... no. Stop acting. Please?

well, i remember some talk of this months ago, and they should stop. die another day was shit...so was king arthur, but i think the script was the problem, not the acting. if they do continue, matthew mcfayden is an excellent choice.

What? Not good in Sin City? Just... no.
He was wicked. And he was pretty damn good in closer also.

Yes, I saw King Arthur, and I think the poor acting had more to do with direction. The only other things I've seen him in is parts of a movie called Beyond Borders, I'll Sleep When I'm Dead and The Bourne Identity. I haven't seen Sin City yet (I may pick up the DVD tonight) so I'll reserve judgement. Clive just looks like he could really handle himself in a fight, which is a lot more than I can say for the last couple of Bonds. Timothy Dalton ruined it for me.

I also think they need to get in a proper director and get someone to write a decent script with (and I realise this is a Bond blasphemy) a decent plot.

Doesn't the role of James Bond require a dose of charisma, which I doubt Owen has got? (then again both roles I saw him in didn't really need it...)

I haven't seen Closer, nor any of the other movies mentioned, I just think he's a big prick with a stick up his arse.

King Arthur was beyond bad. He managed to be an emotionless brick even during the well written speeches etc. He ruined the film in my opinion.

He has the talent to deliver lines in such a way that they lose all their rhetorical value and turn into shite. I blame him, not the writers.

As for the directors... even Keira did worse than usual in King Arthur, so the director can't have helped. Clive Owen was a lot better in Sin City than he was in King Arthur, but he was still only OK. I just don't think he's all that brilliant. Does he look like a true Bond? Yes. If the series were a picture comic, he'd be excellent.

Clive Owen would make a decent villain but I'm not sure I see him as Bond. I would also like to suggest Emilia Fox as a cyborg lesbian Bond.

I don't doubt that ,on more than one occasion, actors rolled their eyes after having been told to "make it more British". Does that make sense?

id go with clive owen, i mean, the guy did get a well-deserved oscar nomination for closer, i thought he was awesome in sin city, and he seems to have the suaveness or charisma needed for bond. and i think it would be amazing if quentin tarantino directed, because im obsessed with him lol. they already said that the next one is gunna be casino royale, which was def the best book, by the way haha.

Note to duckula, they havent got the guy who invented it to help them make the films anymore. Thats why theve been crap.

The next film is going to be casino royal, hope they do a better job than the orginal film.

Ohh, dear god in heaven would someone shoot Tarantino if he got the job as director for a bond movie. Sure the Bond movies aren´t great but if we let him in on it damn you won´t be able to see the actors for all the blood and gore. We don´t need another Kill Bill movie two was more than enough.
