Right now I'm listening to the old Weezer cd Pinkerton. Which is my favorite cd of all time so I figured I'd share a song,

"Across the Sea"
You are 18 year old girl who live in small city of Japan
and you heard me on the radio about one year ago
and you're wanting to know all about me and my hobbies
my favorite food and my birthday

Why are you so far away from me?
I need help and you're way across the seaI could never touch you - I think it would be wrong
But I've got your letter and you've got my song

They don't make stationery like this where I'm from - so fragile, so refined
So I sniff and I lick your envelope and fall to little pieces every time
I wonder what clothes you wear to school; I wonder how you decorate your room
I wonder how you touch yourself and curse myself for being across the sea

Why are you so far away from me?
I need help and you're way across the seaI could never touch you - I think it would be wrong
But I've got your letter and you've got my song

At 10 I shaved my head and tried to be a monk
I thought the older women would like me if I did
You see, ma, I'm a good little boy
It's all your fault, momma, it's all your fault

goddamn, this business is really lame
I gotta live on an island to find the juice
So you send me your love from all around the world
As if I could live on words and dreams and a million screams
oh, how I need a hand in mine to feel.

Why are you so far away from me?
Why are you so far away from me?
I need help and you're way across the seaI could never touch you - I think it would be wrong
But I've got your letter and you've got my song
But I've got your letter and you've got my song

That is one of my favorite songs of all time so I figured what the hell. If you have heard it any thoughts? If not go buy it, this was when Weezer was absolutely amazing. Blue album and Pinkerton two of the best cds of all time. best line in the song

"As if I could live on words and dreams and a million screams
oh, how I need a hand in mine to feel."

Post a song that you love?

I'm listening to "God Hates Us All" by Slayer at the moment. I'm getting wierd looks from the people around me, but they can go and stick their faces in an oil sump.

"Cast Down"
Despair, emptiness
See the hatred wasted on yourself
Face down taste the dust; it's getting harder everyday
Just to find a reason not to end it all yourself
Suicide on the street
Everywhere around you watch it breed
It begins to bury you in self-induced rejection

So now you're wasted, broken down
I see through your ignorance
Penetrate the surface of your insecure inside
Next fix, shoot it up
Looking for the place where god speaks
Every time you find him he just stabs you in the back
again

No one hears you
You're society's infection
I won't judge you
When the blood steals life from you

Cast down and thrown away
You are the living dead
The needle numbs the pain
Of all your suffering
This is where the world of money changes nothing

Just a statistic in the shadows of the real world
The system's failing you just the way it failed me
Hell is home on the concrete where the city bleeds
America - home of the free - land of fucking
disenchantment

Despair, emptiness
Isolation rapes you everyday
Face down taste the dust, digging deeper in your grave
Haven't found a reason
Haven't found a thing to fucking live for
Godless he doesn't care
How you choose to destroy yourself
In a world that feeds on hate
You're left here just to waste away
In your cardboard prison, asphalt wasteland

No one hears you
You're society's infection
I won't judge you
When the blood steals life from you
No one sees you
You're society's infection
I won't judge you
When the blood steals life from you

Cast down and thrown away
You are the living dead
The needle numbs the pain
Of all your suffering
This is where the world of money changes nothing

Depressing, but it rocks.

Don't know many Harvey Danger fans...but this is a great song...the lyrics are excellent too...

"Pike St/Park Slope"

Drive across the country, tell your story walking.
No one’s keeping you captive in the town that let you down (so sorry).

Blame it on the television, blame it on the company;
Don’t blame it on the fundamental fact that no one owes you something.

"I’ve come about my share, i only want what’s fair.
Anyone who knows me knows that i’m not greedy.
Like everybody else, i wanna pay my dues.
(I only want someone to tell me who to make the check out to.)

Maybe we could run away and start a little repertory moviehouse or something."
she said, "sorry but i think you might be just projecting
(but here’s the dough)."

Pike street to park slope, Brooklyn.

"A community of dabblers who are vain and fond of biting backs
('we hate it when our friends become successful')
And a different school whose energies are spent evading income tax...
And silicone enhancements by the breastful.

Maybe we could run away and start a little repertory moviehouse or something."
she said, "sorry but i think you might be just projecting on to me.
Why don’t you try LA?"

"Well when you like something, it’s an opinion
But when i like something, it’s a manifesto."
(pomposity is when you always think you’re right arrogance is when you know.)

"Maybe we could start a little independent repertory moviehouse or something." she said,
"Sorry but I think you might be just protecting your investment or else assigning blame."

The boy was in the hallway drinking a glass of tea
From the other end of the hallway a rhythm was generating
Another boy was sliding up the hallway
He merged perfectly with the hallway,
He merged perfectly, the mirror in the hallway

The boy looked at Johnny, Johnny wanted to run,
but the movie kept moving as planned
The boy took Johnny, he pushed him against the locker,
He drove it in, he drove it home, he drove it deep in Johnny
The boy disappeared, Johnny fell on his knees,
started crashing his head against the locker,
started crashing his head against the locker,
started laughing hysterically

When suddenly Johnny gets the feeling he's being surrounded by
horses, horses, horses, horses
coming in in all directions
white shining silver studs with their nose in flames,
He saw horses, horses, horses, horses, horses, horses, horses, horses.
Do you know how to pony like bony maroney
Do you know how to twist, well it goes like this, it goes like this
Baby mash potato, do the alligator, do the alligator
And you twist the twister like your baby sister
I want your baby sister, give me your baby sister, dig your baby sister
Rise up on her knees, do the sweet pea, do the sweet pee pee,
Roll down on her back, got to lose control, got to lose control,
Got to lose control and then you take control,
Then you're rolled down on your back and you like it like that,
Like it like that, like it like that, like it like that,
Then you do the watusi, yeah do the watusi
Life is filled with holes, Johnny's laying there, his sperm coffin
Angel looks down at him and says, “Oh, pretty boy,
Can't you show me nothing but surrender ?â€
Johnny gets up, takes off his leather jacket,
Taped to his chest there's the answer,
You got pen knives and jack knives and
Switchblades preferred, switchblades preferred
Then he cries, then he screams, saying
Life is full of pain, I'm cruisin' through my brain
And I fill my nose with snow and go Rimbaud,
Go Rimbaud, go Rimbaud,
And go Johnny go, and do the watusi, oh do the watusi

There's a little place, a place called space
It's a pretty little place, it's across the tracks,
Across the tracks and the name of the place is you like it like that,
You like it like that, you like it like that, you like it like that,
And the name of the band is the
Twistelettes, Twistelettes, Twistelettes, Twistelettes,
Twistelettes, Twistelettes, Twistelettes, Twistelettes

Baby calm down, better calm down,
In the night, in the eye of the forest
There's a mare black and shining with yellow hair,
I put my fingers through her silken hair and found a stair,
I didn't waste time, I just walked right up and saw that
up there -- there is a sea
up there -- there is a sea
up there -- there is a sea
the sea's the possibility
There is no land but the land

(up there is just a sea of possibilities)
There is no sea but the sea

(up there is a wall of possibilities)
There is no keeper but the key

(up there there are several walls of possibilities)
Except for one who seizes possibilities, one who seizes possibilities.

(up there)
I seize the first possibility, is the sea around me
I was standing there with my legs spread like a sailor

(in a sea of possibilities) I felt his hand on my knee

(on the screen)
And I looked at Johnny and handed him a branch of cold flame

(in the heart of man)
The waves were coming in like Arabian stallions
Gradually lapping into sea horses
He picked up the blade and he pressed it against his smooth throat

(the spoon)
And let it deep in

(the veins)
Dip in to the sea, to the sea of possibilities
It started hardening
Dip in to the sea, to the sea of possibilities
It started hardening in my hand
And I felt the arrows of desire

I put my hand inside his cranium, oh we had such a brainiac-amour
But no more, no more, I gotta move from my mind to the area

(go Rimbaud go Rimbaud go Rimbaud)
And go Johnny go and do the watusi,
Yeah do the watusi, do the watusi ...
Shined open coiled snakes white and shiny twirling and encircling
Our lives are now entwined, we will fall yes we're together twining
Your nerves, your mane of the black shining horse
And my fingers all entwined through the air,
I could feel it, it was the hair going through my fingers,

(I feel it I feel it I feel it I feel it)
The hairs were like wires going through my body
I I that's how I
that's how I
I died

(at that Tower of Babel they knew what they were after)

(they knew what they were after)
[Everything on the current] moved up
I tried to stop it, but it was too warm, too unbelievably smooth,
Like playing in the sea, in the sea of possibility, the possibility
Was a blade, a shiny blade, I hold the key to the sea of possibilities
There's no land but the land

looked at my hands, and there's a red stream
that went streaming through the sands like fingers,
like arteries, like fingers

(how much fits between the eyes of a horse?)
He lay, pressing it against his throat (your eyes)
He opened his throat (your eyes)
His vocal chords started shooting like (of a horse) mad pituitary glands
The scream he made (and my heart) was so high (my heart) pitched that nobody heard,
No one heard that cry,
No one heard (Johnny) the butterfly flapping in his throat,

(His fingers)
Nobody heard, he was on that bed, it was like a sea of jelly,
And so he seized the first

(his vocal chords shot up)

(possibility)

(like mad pituitary glands)
It was a black tube, he felt himself disintegrate

(there is nothing happening at all)
and go inside the black tube, so when he looked out into the steep
saw this sweet young thing (Fender one)
Humping on the parking meter, leaning on the parking meter

In the sheets
there was a man
dancing around
to the simple
Rock & roll
song

-"Land," Patti Smith

Look at my signature. The first part is from The Shins' song 'Pink Bullets'. The second part is from the Death Cab for Cutie song 'Sound of Settling'. I'd post the whole song, but whatever, no one would take the time to read it all.

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river, and it made me complete

Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in?
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in?
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it, somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go somewhere only we know?

Somewhere only we know

Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in?
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it, somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go, so why don't we go

This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go somewhere only we know?

Somewhere only we know

It's a classic, what can I say.

Oh, Pretty Woman
Roy Orbison

Pretty woman, walkin' down the street
Pretty woman the kind I like to meet
Pretty woman I don't believe you, you're not the truth
No one could look as good as you---mercy

Pretty woman won't you pardon me
Pretty woman I couldn't help but see
Pretty woman that you look lovely as can be
Are you lonely just like me

Pretty woman stop awhile
Pretty woman talk awhile
Pretty woman give your smile to me
Pretty woman yeah, yeah, yeah
Pretty woman look my way
Pretty woman say you'll stay with me-ee
Cuz I need you, I'll treat you right
Come with me baby, be mine toni-i-ght

Pretty woman don't walk on by
Pretty woman don't make me cry
Pretty woman don't walk away, hey----OK
If that's the way it must be---OK
I guess I'll go on home, it's late
There'll be tomorrow night, but wait
What do I see? <drums>
Is she walkin' back to me?
Yeah, she's walkin' back to me
Oh, oh, pretty woman

I love that movie :)

Here's a song I've always really liked. I don't know what it's called but it's by SheDaisy, and it's perfect. Every guy should know this song.

I wont be your dirty secret
I wont be your cure or pill
I wont run to fetch the water; just to tumble down the hill
I wont be your friday paycheck
I wont be the prize you flaunt
And I wont be your Martha Stewert, baby
Or your all night restaurant
(Chorus) But I will, I will, I will be your everything
I will, I will, I will be the whole shebang
You know I will, but
I wont be your crutch to lean on
I wont wear stilleto heels
I wont walk a mile in your shoes; Just so I know how it feels
I wont be your obligation
I wont be your Barbie doll
I wont be the portrait of perfection; to adorn your wall
(Chorus)
I wont be your lifetime girlfriend
I wont be just one of the guys
I wont be your mama's favorite
I refuse to be the last in line
(chorus)
I will, I will be your everything
I will, I will be the whole shebang
You know I will...

Says it all.

I'm listening to Radiohead "Like Spinning Plates"

"While you make pretty speeches,
I'm being cut to shreds.
You feed me to the lions,
A delicate balance.

And this just feels like
Spinning plates
I'm living in cloud cockoo
Land
And this just feels like
Spinning plates
Our bodies floating down a muddy river"

Cheerful isn't it?

This year's love, it better last
Heaven knows it's high time
I've been waiting on my own too long
And when you hold me like you do
Feels so right, oh now
Start to forget how my heart gets torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Feeling like you can't go on

Turning circles and time again
Cuts like a knife, oh now
If you love me, got to know for sure
'Cause it takes something more this time
Than sweet sweet lies, oh now
Before I open up my arms and fall
Losing all control
Every dream inside my soul

When you kiss me on that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing, "Ain't this life so sweet?"

This year's love, it better last (x2)

'Cause who's to worry if our hearts get torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Don't you know this life goes on?

Won't you kiss me on that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing, "Ain't this life so sweet?"

This year's love, it better last (x6)

Damn it mate, I wanted to post that knowing you would (and its a great song obviously) :P If you're on irc when DR is, you will notice he tends to sing it a lot :)

There's a little child
Running round this house
And he never leaves
He will never leave
And the fog comes up from the sewers
And glows in the dark

Baby alligators in the sewers grow up fast
Grow up fast
Anything you want it can be done
How did you go bad?
Did you go bad?
Did you go bad?
Somethings will never wash away
Did you go bad?
Did you go bad?

That was radiohead's fog. Live version beats the real one by heaps.

See the stone set in your eyes
See the thorn twist in your side
I wait for you

Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait without you

With or without you
With or without you

Through the storm we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
And I'm waiting for you

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

My hands are tied
My body bruised, she got me with
Nothing to win and nothing left to lose

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you

with or without you is a bit cliche, imo.
good, but too well known/overplayed.

The thread is about good song lyrics, not about how overplayed they are. The quality of lyrics do not diminish with multiple listening.

One of my favourites:

You could be my unintended
Choice to live my life extended
You could be the one I'll always love
You could be the one who listens
To my deepest inquisitions
You could be the one I'll always love

I'll be there as soon as I can
But I'm busy mending broken
Pieces of the life I had before

First there was the one who challenged
All my dreams and all my balance
She could never be as good as you
You could be my unintended
Choice to live my life extended
You should be the one I'll always love

I'll be there as soon as I can
But I'm busy mending broken
Pieces of the life I had before

I'll be there as soon as I can
But I'm busy mending broken
Pieces of the life I had before

Before you

(I noticed I've been posting melancholy lyrics, but they are usually the best ones to use. Unrequited - or just melancholic in general - love is often the greatest Muse.)

Come up to meet you
Tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are
I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I'll set you apart
Tell me your secrets
And ask me your questions
Oh, let's go back to the start
Running in circles
Coming up tails
Heads on a silence apart

(Chorus)
Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
Oh, take me back to the start

I was just guessing at numbers and figures
Pulling your puzzles apart
Questions of science, science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart
Then tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh, and I rush to the start
Running in circles
Chasing our tails
Coming back as we are

(Chorus)
Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard
I'm going back to the start

meWithoutyou-Bullets to binary

Is that the song that begins with ''Don't waste your lips on words I've heard before, kiss my tired head''? Because that's the only mewithoutyou song I still like, the only song out of that genre actually.

I've been listening to Iron & Wine lately and all his songs are amazing, as well as his guitar playing. "Each Coming Night" is a very good song from Iron & Wine.

Bullets to Binary starts out "Let us die, let us die. Dying, we reply. don't talk to us about your suffering look in our eyes. Let us be." Just the first few lines.

The song you are talking about is "Silencer"

How long how long will I slide
Separate my side I don’t
I don’t believe it’s bad
Slit my throat
It’s all I ever
I heard your voice through a photograph
I thought it up it brought up the past
Once you know you can never go back
I’ve got to take it on the otherside

Centuries are what it meant to me
A cemetery where I marry the sea
Stranger things could never change my mind
I’ve got to take it on the otherside
Take it on the otherside
Take it on
Take it on

How long how long will I slide
Separate my side I don’t
I don’t believe it’s bad
Slit my throat
It’s all I ever
I heard your voice through a photograph
I thought it up it brought up the past
Once you know you can never go back
I’ve got to take it on the otherside

Pour my life into a paper cup
The ashtray’s full and I’m spillin’ my guts
She wants to know am I still a slut
I’ve got to take it on the otherside

Scarlet starlet and she’s in my bed
A candidate for my soul mate bled
Push the trigger and pull the thread
I’ve got to take it on the otherside
Take it on the otherside
Take it on
Take it on

How long how long will I slide
Separate my side I don’t
I don’t believe it’s bad
Slit my throat
It’s all I ever
I heard your voice through a photograph
I thought it up it brought up the past
Once you know you can never go back
I’ve got to take it on the otherside

Turn me on take me for a hard ride
Burn me out leave me on the otherside
I yell and tell it that
It’s not my friend
I tear it down I tear it down
And then it’s born again

How long how long will I slide
Separate my side I don’t
I don’t believe it’s bad
Slit my throat
It’s all I ever
I heard your voice through a photograph
I thought it up it brought up the past
Once you know you can never go back
I’ve got to take it on the otherside

How long I don’t believe it’s bad
Slit my throat
It’s all I ever

Get on the rollercoaster
The fair's in town today
Y'gotta be bad-enough to beat the brave

So get on the helter skelter
Bowl into the fray
Y'gotta be bad-enough to beat the brave

You fade in-out
You fade in-out
Without a doubt
I don't see no shine
Today is just a daydream
Tomorrow we'll be castaway

Coming in-out of nowhere
Singin' rhapsody
Y'gotta be bad-enough to wanna be

Sitting upside a high chair
With the devils refugee
Is gonna be blinded by the light
That follows me

She fade in-out
She fade in-out
Without a doubt
I don't see no shine
Today is just a daydream
Tomorrow she'll be castaway

Nice lyrics there, on a similar theme:

Oasis - Half the World Away

I would like to leave this city
This old town don't smell too pretty and
I can feel the warning signs running around my mind
And when I leave this island I'll book myself into a soul asylum
Cos I can feel the warning signs running around my mind

So here I go, I'm still scratching around the same old hole
My body feels young but my mind is very old
So what do you say?
You can give me the dreams that are mine anyway
You're half the world away
Half the world away
Half the world away
Half the world away
I've been lost, I've been found but I don't feel down.

And when I leave this planet
You know I'd stay but I just can't stand it and
I can feel the warning signs running around my mind
And if I could leave this spirit I'd find me a hole and I'll live in it 'cos
I can feel the warning signs running around my mind

So here I go still scratching around in the same old hole
My body feels young but my mind is very old
So what do you say?
You can give me the dreams that are mine anyway
You're half the world away
Half the world away
Half the world away
Half the world away
I've been lost, I've been found but I don't feel down

if you wanna post a chili pepper song. Do ''Soul to Squeeze" my all-time favorite song by them.
I got a bad disease,
Up from my brain is where I bleed.
In sanity it seems,
Is got me by my soul to squeeze.
Well all the love from me,
With all these dying trees I scream.
The Angels in my dreams,
have turned to demons of greed,
That's me.

Where I go I just don't know,
I got to, got to, gotta take it slow.
When I find my piece of mind,
I'm gonna give you some of my good time.

Today loves smile on me,
It took away my pain, said please
All that you ride is free,
You gotta let it be,
Oh ya.

Where I go I just don't know,
I got to, gotta, gotta take it slow.
When I find my piece of mind,
I'm gonna give you some of my good time.

You're so polite indeed,
Well I got everything I need.
Oh make my days a breeze,
And take away my self destruction.

It's bitter baby,
And it's very sweet.
I'm on a rollercoaster,
but I'm on my feet.
Take me to the river,
Let me on your shore.
I be coming back baby,
I be coming back for more.

Doo doo doo doo dingle zing a dong bone,
ba-di ba-da ba-zumba crunga cong gone bad,
like an apple gift but i went out and never said my pleasures
I'm much better but I won't regret it never

Where I go I just dont't know,
I got to, got to, gotta take it slow.
When I find my piece of mind,
I'm gonna give you some of my good time.

Where I go I just don't know,
I might end up somewhere in Mexico.
When I find my piece of mind,
I'm gonna keep for the end of time!

There you go kyle, Soul to Squeeze by Red hot chili Peppers. There were 4 versions on the lyrics site, so meh.

I saw them last summer. They put on a hell of a show. They played this song, and since then it's been my favorite. They closed with that "My Friends" song. Insanity.

Ick. I can't stand the Chilli peppers. Grr.

Godless-The Dandy Warhols(oh how I heart them)

Hey I said you're godless and, it seems like you're a soulless friend.
As thoughtless as you were back then, I swear that you are godless.
Hey I guess you're lonely when, I gave you all it took so then,
stranger then it's ever been.
I guess, It's what you wanted.
They conceived, how lonely I would be.
I beg, I plead, but this is all that I have gotten.
Hey as for the day my friend.
To hope that you could ever bend.
I swear you are, I swear you are, I swear, That you are godless.

Hey I said you're godless, hey and you're a soulless friend.
Hey I said you're heartless, and I swear, I swear. Godless,
godless, god. You're godless.

Between Cliffeh and DR (who obviously have impeccable taste as they agree with me) they've nicked two songs I planned to post (The Scientist and Unintended). I did also consider posting Clocks...but meh...one coldplay song is enough for now...I think I may come back to that after I've tried introducing some new bands to the picture.

Tink I shall start with Ash and use the lyrics which inspired my siggy (which I just changed) and my MSN status.

Right...Song's called Starcrossed, tis from their new album Meltdown (buy it...there are so many songs with great lyrics on it that I was at a loss for which to post...Clones has great lyrics too <they're in my new siggy> as does Evil eye...Orpheus rocks too!). Tis inspired by Romeo and Juliet (you'll no doubt gather that anyway) and the video is awesome. For brevity, and because it's the verses not the chorus that's good, I'll just post the verses.

Verse 1:

Behold this night, still and clear
You look here just like an angel
Sleeping
I wish I could ease your fears
I would catch the diamond tears
You're weeping
In your eyes I would hide
By your side I could defy
The forces tearing us apart
But reality, as it seems
Looking back, is that our dream
Was fated from the start

Verse 2:

I'll remain in your hold
Body, mind, heart and soul
As long as I breathe
Though consequence takes its toll
All is out of our control
That's how it will be
So close your eyes my young bride
Listen to me one last time
There's something I have to say
When your faith turns to despair
Always will my love be there
And never fade away

[I think what makes a great movie partially great would have to be a soundtrack. The movie Cruel Intentions, though quite cliched, gave such quality songs on its soundtrack as "Bittersweet Symphony", "You Could Make A Killing", "This Love", and this little ditty, sung during the love scene between Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon. What makes this song most poignant, perhaps, is the way it is sung, with an air of melancholy and a penchant for humility.]

I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready, I am ready
I am...

Taffy stuck and tongue-tied
Stutter shook and uptight
Pull me out from inside
I am ready, I am ready
I am... fine

I am covered in skin
No one gets to come in
Pull me out from inside
I am folded, and unfolded
And unfolding

I am... colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready, I am ready
I am ready
I am... fine

I am... fine

I am... fine

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed
With a word she can get what she came for

Woe oh oh oh oh oh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
And you know sometimes words have two meanings
In the tree by the brook there's a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven

Woe oh oh oh oh oh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

There's a feeling I get when I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who stand looking

Woe oh oh oh oh oh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

And it's whispered that soon, if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forest will echo with laughter

And it makes me wonder

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow
Don't be alarmed now
It's just a spring clean for the May Queen

Yes there are two paths you can go by
but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on

Your head is humming and it won't go because you don't know
The piper's calling you to join him
Dear lady can't you hear the wind blow and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our souls
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll
Woe oh oh oh oh oh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed
With a word she can get what she came for

And she's buying a stairway to heaven, uh uh uh.

A song by K's Choice, a band from Belgium.

Believe

Bravely I look further than I see
Knowing things I know I cannot be, not now
I'm so awared of where I am,
But I don't know where that is
And there's something right in front of me and I

Touch the fingers of my hand
And I wonder if it's me
Holding on and on to Theories of prosperity
Someone who can promise me
I believe in me

Tomorrow I was nothing, yesterday I'll be
Time has fooled me into thinking it's a part of me
Nothing in this room but empty space
No mean, no world, no mind, no faith

Touch the fingers of my hand
And tell me if it's me
Holding on and on to Love,
what else is real
A religion that appeals to me
I believe in me

Can you turn me off, just a second please
turn me into something faceless, weightless, mindless, homeless,
Vacuum state of peace
On and on...
I believe in me

Wait for me, I'm nothing on my own
I'm willing to go on, but not alone not now
I'm so awared of everything, but nothing seems for real and
As long as you're in front of me then
I'll watch the fingers of our hands
And I'm greateful that's in me
Holding on and on...

I believe in me

This is one of my all time favorites.

Sympathy For The Devil (Jagger/Richards)

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long long year stolen many man's soul and faith
I was around when Jesus Christ had His moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate washed his hands and sealed His fate
Pleased to meet you hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you is the nature of my game

Stuck around St. Petersburg when I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the Tzar and his ministers, Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank held a gen'rals rank when the blitzkrieg
raged and the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you hope you guess my name. Oh yeah
Ah what's puzzling you is the nature of my game. Oh yeah

I watched the glee while your kings and queens fought for
ten decades for the Gods they made
I shouted out "Who killed the Kennedy's?" when after all
it was you and me
Let me please introduce myself I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I lay traps for troubadors who get killed before they reach Bombay
Pleased to meet you hope you guess my name. Oh yeah
But what's puzzling you is the nature of my game. Oh yeah
Pleased to meet you hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you is the nature of my game

Just as every cop is a criminal and all the sinners, Saints
as heads is tails, just call me Lucifer 'cause I'm in need
of some restraint
So if you meet me, have some courtesy have some sympathy
and some taste
Use all your well learned politesse or I'll lay your soul to waste
Pleased to meet you hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you is the nature of my game

...but not the expected. Chilling. Even more so, now that I have a daughter of my own.

Country Death Song

I had me a wife, I had me some daughters.
I tried so hard, I never knew still waters.
Nothing to eat and nothing to drink.
Nothing for a man to do but sit around and think.
Nothing for a man to do but sit around and think.

Well, I'm a thinkin' and thinkin', till there's nothin' I ain't thunk.
Breathing in the stink, till finally I stunk.
It was at that time, I swear I lost my mind.
I started making plans to kill my own kind.
I started making plans to kill my own kind.

Come little daughter," I said to the youngest one,
Put your coat on, we'll have some fun.
We'll go out to mountains, the one to explore.
Her face then lit up, I was standing by the door.
Her face then lit up, I was standing by the door.

Come little daughter, I will carry the lanterns.
We'll go out tonight, we'll go to the caverns.
We'll go out tonight, we'll go to the caves.
Kiss your mother goodnight and remember that God saves.
Kiss your mother goodnight and remember that God saves.

A led her to a hole, a deep black well.
I said "make a wish, make sure and not tell and
close you're eyes dear, and count to seven.
You know your papa loves you, good children go to heaven.
You know your papa loves you, good children go to heaven.

I gave her a push, I gave her a shove.
I pushed with all my might, I pushed with all my love.
I through my child into a bottomless pit.
She was screaming as she fell, but I never heard her hit.
She was screaming as she fell, but I never heard her hit.

Gather round boys to this tale that I tell.
You wanna know how to take a short trip to hell?
It's guarenteed to get your own place in hell.
Just take your lovely daughter and push her in the well.
Take your lovely daughter and throw her in the well.

Don't speak to me of lovers, with a broken heart.
You wanna know what can really tear you apart?
I'm going out to the barn, will I never stop in pain?
I'm going out to the barn, to hang myself in shame.

I love this band Funeral for a Friend and their song

RED is the NEW black

an't pretend that you're nothing special
You've got to look at all of your options
You can't decide what to go for
When it's all about trust (it's all about trust)
You see your self on the TV
You read your magazines
You can't explain how it's come to be this
Stop and think.
When it's all about trust (it's all about trust)

This coverage your centre spread
Your neon light daydream will shatter and break
And if you think I'm thinking of your value here
You're the one who's losing control

This eventual stop this, break in the mold
I scream down this hotline just to feel something

This situation, isn't getting any better
I see that look in your eyes
You want to see a pretty face
There isn't anything wrong with giving up
And for what it's worth, I still hate you.

This situation isn't getting any better, I see that look in your eye

Excellent song called Spitting Games by a band called Snow Patrol...it's actually better lyrically than Run for my money...and Run is an amazing song...look em up if you haven't heard?

Spitting Games

I broke into your house last night
And left a note at your bedside
I'm far too shy to speak to you at school
You leave me numb and I don't know why

I find it easier to sit and stare
Than push my limbs out towards you right
My heart is bursting in your perfect eyes
As blue as oceans and as pure as skies

I struggle for the words and then give up
My heads up with the birds on the t-hut
A little piece of mind that I know better
That the plain disgrace of all my letters

After that the floodgates opened up
And I fell in love with everyone I saw
Take your time I'm not in any rush
And it's in everything I ever write

It's not as if I need the extra weight
Confused enough by life so thanks a lot
Lonely written words for company
Just raise the roof this once and follow me

Yeah I used to like Snow Patrol till they went mainstream-I'm like that, a self-professed music snob.
Right now I like Ben Kweller. Such a good album to practice my harmonica. But as is my nature, the moment he goes mainstream I'll stop listening to it.
Hence why I like Peaches. She's too contraversial to go mainstream THANK God.

I Need You Back by Ben Kweller which I'm listening to RIGHT at this second...

Take me back when you think that it's good.
It feels worse than they said it would.
You're gone but not forever.
When I know I'm never wanted
I tuck away in my turtle shell.
I've standed on this hex forever.

I need you back, I need you have,
to take away all of my pain and then my fear.

Hey! I need you back.

Like a ghost on his darkest visit,
you got my soul, now baby why is it
gone gone gone? Take it from me.
You are free if you can sleep at night,
you really must be hard if you're feeling alright.
Hey hey hey, we're way uptown, we gotta turn around.

I need you back, I need you here,
to take away all of my pain and then my fear.

Hey! I need you back.

I need you back, I need you here,
to take away all of my pain and then my fear.

Hey! I need you back.
(I'm so lost without you.)

['Twas thinking of putting on a Snow Patrol song, but Haz beat me to it. So I guess this song fits the bill.]

I'll be the grapes fermented bottled and then served with the table set in my finest suit, like a perfect gentleman
I'll be the fire escape that's bolted to the ancient brick, where you will sit and contemplate your day

I'll be the waterways that save you if you start drowning in the open tab, when your judgment's on the brink
I'll be the phonograph that plays your favorite albums back, as you're lying there, drifting off to sleep
I'll be the platform shoes, undo what heredity's done to you; you won't have to strain to look into my eyes
I'll be your winter coat, buttoned zipped straight to the throat, with the collar up, so you won't catch cold

I want to take you far, from the cynics in this town
And kiss you on the mouth
We'll cut our bodies free, from the tethers of this scene
Start a brand-new colony
Where everything will change
We'll give ourselves new names
Identities erased
The sun will heat the grounds under our bare feet
In this brand-new colony
This brand-new colony

Everything will change...ooh ooh...

I am,
A little bit of loneliness,
A little bit of disregard,
Handful of complaints,
But I can't help the fact,
That everyone can see these scars,
I am,
What I want you to want,
What I want you to feel,
But it's like,
No matter what I do,
I can't convince you,
To just believe this is real,
So I,
Let go,
Watching you,
Turn your back like you always do,
Face away and pretend that I'm not,
But I'll be here,
'Cause you're all that I got,

I can't feel,
The way I did before,
Don't turn your back on me,
I won't be ignored,
Time won't change,
This damage anymore,
Don't turn your back on me,
I won't be ignored,

I am,
A little bit insecure,
A little unconfident,
'Cause you don't understand,
I do what I can,
But sometimes I don't make sense,
I am,
What you never wanna say,
But I've never had a doubt,
It's like no matter what I do,
I can't convince you,
For once just to hear me out
So I,
Let go,
Watching you,
Turn your back like you always do,
Face away and pretend that I'm not,
But I'll be here,
'Cause you're all that I got,

I can't feel,
The way I did before,
Don't turn your back on me,
I won't be ignored,
Time won't change,
This damage anymore,
Don't turn your back on me,
I won't be ignored!!!!!!

No!!!!!
Hear me out now!!!!
You're gonna listen to me,
Like it or not ,
Right now!!!!!!!!!!!
Hear me out now!!!!!
You're gonna listen to me,
Like it or not,
Right now!!!!!!!!!!

I can't feel the way I did before,
Don't turn your back on me,
I won't be ignored!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't feel,
The way I did before,
Don't turn your back on me,
I won't be ignored,
Time won't change,
This damage anymore,
Don't turn your back on me,

oh jacoby rocks my socks. i love those songs in your profile and elliot smith, awesome. lets seee some of my favorites, quotes then.

" i scream for the sunlight or a car to take me anywhere
just get me past this dead and eternal snow
because i swear that i am dying, slowly but its happening
and if the perfect spring is waiting somewhere
just take me there and lie to me and say it's going to be alright"

"Return, return to the person that you were.
And I will do the same because it is too hard to belong to someone who is gone. My compass spins.
The wilderness remains."
both bright eyes

"How'd I end up here to begin with? I don't know.
Why do I start what I can't finish?
Oh please, don't barrage me with questions to all those ugly answers.
My ego's like my stomach- it keeps shitting what I feed it.
But maybe I don't want to finish anything anymore"
Cursive
The alexisonfire lyrics in my profile and this one "jubella"

"You had such grace, you had such grace in the end. I wish I could remember. I wish I could remember what colour your eyes were. your eyes were but every time I looked at you my mind went blank. Jubella. You claim to be the one who will bring down the stars. (but as of yet, I've seen nothing)"

Planes Mistaken for Stars
"your're all smoke and mirrors and i've caught
to you and found you choking on chances of
days dead and gone. old man your guns are
rusted you've forgotten how to fight! lay down.
i'll tear the ghost from you"

shins
"It was undeniably clear to me i don't know why
When every other part of life seemed locked behind shutters
I knew what worthless dregs we've always been."

 I forgot Bright Eyes......Thanks Gracie.
"Something Vague"
There is a dream in my brain that just won't go away.
It has been stuck there since it came a few nights ago
I'm standing on a bridge in the town where I lived as a kid with my mom and my brothers. And then the bridge disappears and I'm standing on air with nothing holding me. And I hang like a star, fucking glow in the dark, for all those staring eyes to see, like the ones we've wished on.
But now I'm confused. Is this death really you? Do these dreams have any meaning? No. No, I think it is more like a ghost that has been following us both. Something vague that we are not
seeing, something more like a feeling. //(Conor Oberst is amazing, but sometimes he's way too emotional. One time he started crying at his concert and had to leave.)

"New Slang" da shins!.....again
Gold teeth and a curse for this town were all in my mouth.
Only, i don't know how they got out, dear.
Turn me back into the pet that i was when we met.
I was happier then with no mind-set.

And if you'd 'a took to me like
A gull takes to the wind.
Well, i'd 'a jumped from my tree
And i'd a danced like the king of the eyesores
And the rest of our lives would 'a fared well.

New slang when you notice the stripes, the dirt in your fries.
Hope it's right when you die, old and bony.
Dawn breaks like a bull through the hall,
Never should have called
But my head's to the wall and i'm lonely.

God speed all the bakers at dawn may they all cut their thumbs,
And bleed into their buns 'till they melt away.

I'm looking in on the good life i might be doomed never to find.
Without a trust or flaming fields am i too dumb to refine?
And if you'd 'a took to me like
Well i'd a danced like the queen of the eyesores
And the rest of our lives would 'a fared well.

What It's Like-Everlast

We've all seen the man at the liquor store beggin' for your change
The hair on his face is dirty, dreadlocked and full of mange
He ask the man for what he could spare with shame in his eyes
Get a job you fuckin' slob's all he replied

[CHORUS]
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in his shoes
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to sing the blues
Then you really might know what it's like [X4]

Mary got pregnant from a kid named Tom who said he was in love
He said don't worry about a thing baby doll I'm the man you've been dreamin' of
But three months later he said he won't date her or return her call
And she sweared god damn if I find that man I'm cuttin' off his balls
And then she heads for the clinic and she gets some static walkin' through the doors
They call her a killer, and they call her a sinner, and they call her a whore

[CHORUS]
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in her shoes
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to have to choose
Then you really might know what it's like [X4]
I've seen a rich man beg
I've seen a good man sin
I've seen a tough man cry
I've seen a loser win
And a sad man grin
I heard an honest man lie
I've seen the good side of bad
And the down side of up
And everything between
I licked the silver spoon
Drank from the golden cup
Smoked the finest green
I stroked daddies dimes at least a couple of times
Before I broke their heart
You know where it ends
Yo, it usually depends on where you start

I knew this kid named Max
He used to get fat stacks out on the corner with drugs
He liked to hang out late at night
Liked to get shit faced
And keep pace with thugs
Until late one night there was a big gun fight
Max lost his head
He pulled out his chrome .45
Talked some shit
And wound up dead
Now his wife and his kids are caught in the midst of all of his pain
You know it crumbles that way
At least that's what they say when you play the game

[CHORUS]
God forbid you ever had to wake up to hear the news
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to have to lose
Then you really might know what it's like [X4]
To have to lose...

The Killers...Mr Brightside...just gonna post the chorus as it's amazing...

I just can't look its killing me
And taking control
Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies
Choking on your alibis
But it's just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
'Cause I'm Mr Brightside

Oh...and I'm a big fan of the irony in Damien Rice's Cannonball lyrics.

Still a little bit of your taste in my mouth
Still a little bit of you laced with my doubt
Still a little hard to say what's going on

Still a little bit of your ghost your witness
Still a little BIT of your face I haven't kissed
You step a little closer each day
THAT I can't SAY what's going on

Stones taught me to fly
Love taught me to lie
Life taught me to die
So it's not hard to fall
When you float like a cannonball

Still a little bit of your song in my ear
Still a little bit of your words I long to hear
You step a little closer to me
So close that I can't see what's going on

Stones taught me to fly
Love, it taught me to lie
Life taught me to die
So it's not hard to fall
When you float like a cannon

Stones taught me to fly
Love taught me to cry
So come on courage!
Teach me to be shy
'Cause it's not hard to fall
And I don't wanna scare her
It's not hard to fall
And I don't wanna lose
It's not hard to grow
When you know that you just don't know

I'm just posting this song's lyrics to see if anyone actually reads it... because this has to be the crappest lyrics ever. It reached number one Australian rock song though a few weeks back... Anyway, that is Spiderbait's Black Betty.

i never really liked snow patrol, never really thought they were anything speacial. i saw funeral for a friend a few weeks ago, wicked awesome. im really enjoying the new pornographers right now.

The angel cries “you bastard!” as we analyze the accent, so look out, you rock'n'rollers. Over forty million served and that's a record for the master, it stood forever after. So are we, are we, are we, are we facing the end of all, of all the drugs we're lacing with common sense and courtesy and other things we thought would be the end of us, but now they won't allow us our intentions. Oh the mother of invention, it's her pleasure to repeat with feeling: Are we, are we, are we, are we facing the end of all the medicine we're taking? Somewhere in the system there's an open ended list of all the lies we tell unblinking, thinking, “What could we be living? Is it life or is it even in the realm of possibility?” You see it when you're missing who you came to see. Is this thing even on and on and on? Are we, are we, are we, are we facing the end of all the medicine we're taking?

As promised...Clocks by Coldplay...

Lights go out and I can't be saved,
Tides that I tried to swim against,
You've put me down upon my knees,
Oh I beg, I beg and plead (singing),
Come out of things unsaid, shoot an apple of my head (and a),
Trouble that can't be named, tigers waiting to be tamed (singing),
You are, you are

Confusion never stops, closing walls and ticking clocks (gonna),
Come back and take you home, I could not stop, that you now know (singing),
Come out upon my seas, curse missed opportunities (am I),
A part of the cure, or am I part of the disease (singing)

You are (x6),
And nothing else compares,
Oh no nothing else compares,
And nothing else compares

You are (continues in background),
Home, home, where I wanted to go (x4)

"Clocks" always reminded me of the theme song to every RPG ever played. One could easily listen to it, as Cloud and his comrades fly the airship across the land in Final Fantasy VII.

I guess I'll post another set of lyrics: The Used - "Blue And Yellow"

And it's all in how you mix the two
And it starts just where the line exists
It's a feeling you cannot miss
And it burns a hole through everyone who feels it

Well, you're never gonna find it if you're looking for it
Won't come your way, yeah
Well, you'll never find it
If you're looking for it (looking for it)

Should've done something, but I've done it enough
By the way your hands were shaking
Rather waste some time with you

And you never would've thought in the end
How amazing it feels just to live again
It's a feeling you cannot miss
And it burns a hole through everyone who feels it

Why you gonna find it if you're looking for it
Won't come your way, yeah
Well, you'll never find it
If you're looking for it (looking for it)

Should've done something, but I've done it enough
By the way your hands were shaking
Rather waste some time with you
Should've said something, but I've said it enough
By the way my words were fading
Rather waste some time with you

(Time with you, time with you, time with you
Waste some time with you
Waste some time with you)

Should've done something, but I've done it enough
By the way your hands were shaking
Rather waste my time with you
Should've said something, but I've said it enough
By the way my words were fading
Rather waste my time with you

Should've done something, but I've done it enough
By the way my hands were shaking
Rather waste some time with you

Waste some time with you
Waste some time with you
Waste some time with you
Waste some time with you
Waste some time with you
Waste some time with you

(Should've done something, but I've done it enough
By the way your hands were shaking
Rather waste some time with you)

[I've been listening to a lot of British alt bands: Coldplay, Muse, Snow Patrol, Keane, etc. It's amazing I never thought about Travis until now. So here they are:]

Travis - Writing to Reach You

Everyday I wake up, and it's Sunday
Whatever's in my eye won't go away
The radio is playing all the usual
And what's a 'wonderwall' anyway?

Because my inside is outside
My right side's on the left side
'Cause I'm writing to reach you now
But I might never reach you
Only want to teach you...about you
But that's not you

It's good to know that you are home for Christmas
It's good to know that you are doing well
It's good to know that you all know I'm hurting
It's good to know I'm feeling not so well

Because my inside is outside
My right side's on the left side
'Cause I'm writing to reach you now
But I might never reach you
Only want to teach you...about you
But that's not you
And you know it's true
But that won't do

Maybe then tomorrow will be Monday
And whatever's in my eye should go away
But still the radio keeps playing all the usual
And what's a 'wonderwall' anyway?

Because my inside is outside
My right side's on the left side
'Cause I'm writing to reach you now
But I might never reach you
Only want to teach you...about you
But that's not you
And you know it's true
But that won't do
And you know it's you
I'm talking to you

''Black Betty '' is a song I like, but the original version not this one. Ram Jam originally did it in the 70’s and U2 also recorded it. I think if you were to do a bit of research, you would find that it charted quite highly on the British charts for a while.
Yes but I don't like spiderbait's version, and probably wouldn't like original as well :P its catchy but the lyrics are... anyway.

change,
everything you are
and everything you were
your number has been called
fights, battles have begun
revenge will surely come
your hard times are ahead

best,
you've got to be the best
you've got to change the world
and you use this chance to be heard
your time is now

change,
everything you are
and everything you were
your number has been called
fights and battles have begun
revenge will surely come
your hard times are ahead

best,
you've got to be the best
you've got to change the world
and you use this chance to be heard
your time is now

don't,
let yourself down
don't let yourself go
your last chance has arrived

best,
you've got to be the best
you've got to change the world
and you use this chance to be heard
your time is now

Muse - Butterflies and Hurricanes. It repeats itself a bit, but the slow crescendo and piano bridge bit is nice.

Travis - Writing to Reach You

TASTE...I was going to post that :p. I also like Flowers in the Window.

When I first held you I was cold
A melting snowman I was told
That there was no one there to hold
Before, I swore, that I would be alone forever more

Oh, wow, look at you now
Flowers in the window
It's such a lovely day and I'm glad you feel the same
Cos to stand up, out in the crowd
You are one in a million
And I love you so
Let's watch the flowers grow

There is no reason to feel bad
But there are many seasons to feel glad, sad, mad
It's just a bunch of feelings that we have to hold
And I am here to help you with the load

So now we're here and now is fine
So far away from there and there is time, time, time
To plant new seeds and watch them grow
So there'll be flowers in the window when we go

Can't get better than this:

"Lustra - Scotty Doesn't Know"
Scotty doesn't know that fiona and me do it in my van every sunday
She tells him she's in church but she doesn't go
Still she's on her knees and scotty doesn't know

Ohhh scotty doesn't know
So don't tell scotty
Scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know
(So don't tell scotty)

Fiona says she's out shopping
But she's under me and i'm not stopping

Cause scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know
So don't tell scotty
Scotty doesn't know
(So don't tell scotty)

I can't believe he's so trusting
While i'm right behind you thrusting
Fiona's got him on the phone
Yes she's trying not to moan
It's a threeway call and he knows nothing

Scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know
Don't tell scotty
Cause scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know
So don't tell scotty
One more show everyone will go
Scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know

The... parking lot... why not?
It's so cool when your on top
It's full on in the snow
Life is so hard cause scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know

...I did her on his birthday

Scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know
Don't tell scotty
Scotty doesn't know
Scotty will know
Scotty doesn't know
Scotty's gotta know
Gonna tell scotty
Gonna tell myself
Scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't know
Scotty doesn't
Scotty doesn't
Scotty doesn't know

Scotty doesn't know [16x]

Scott's gotta go...

And I just think this one is funny:

Hey, Ms. Hilton Lyrics

Oh my, looky there
Stone-cold foxy, platinum hair
Short skirt, barely there
Make a chick wanna hate, make a boy wanna stare

Well, Ms. Hilton you must be worth a trillion bucks
Get the feelin' that you don’t really give a fuck
Ms. Hilton I like the way you push and glide
Rollerskates on a social butterfly, whoo!

Breeze by, velvet ropes
Ski this town like a bunny slope
Oh my, there she goes
A Long money girl in her short money clothes

Well,Ms. Hilton you must be worth a trillion bucks
Was it you with your bunny all up in the club?
Ms. Hilton I like the way you push and glide
Rollerskates on a social butterfly

Ms. Hilton you must be worth a trillion bucks
Get the feelin that you don’t really give a fuck
Ms Hilton I like the way you push and glide
Rollerskates on a social butterfly

Ms. Hilton you must be worth a trillion bucks
Was it you with your bunny all up in the club?
Ms. Hilton I like the way you push and glide
Rollerskates on a social butterfly

Ms. Hilton
Ms. Hilton
Ms. Hilton

You tried so hard to be someone
That forgot who you are

You tried to fill some emptiness
Till all you had spilled over

Now everything’s so far away
That you don’t know where are
You are

(Chorus)
When all that you wanted
When all that you had don’t seem so much
For you to hold onto
For you to hold onto

For you to belong to

When it’s hard to be yourself
It’s not to be someone else

Still everything’s so far away
That you forget where you are
You are

(Chorus)
When all that you wanted
When all that you had don’t seem so much
For you to hold onto
For you to hold onto

Hold on [4x]

Hold on [4x]

(Chorus)
When all that you wanted
When all that you had don’t seem so much
For you to hold onto
For you to hold onto
For you to hold onto

For you to belong to

I'll wait 'til I see a cloud shaped like the Garden State
And little stars are cars at turnpike gates
And the moon is Delaware
I'll wait, I'll wait for the magic hour
Go and find myself the biggest tree
Cut it down and count the rings
Time was once
When there was rustling in the reeds
Tiny tumbleweeds, pigeons on the porch
And there was dumb love fallers
Carpet crawlers spinning in the deck
I'll wait for the magic hour, I will wait
I made this song because I made mistakes
And I will always love you.

Thanks For Nothing-Sum 41

I'll never take part in the grown population
Or waste my time with further education (hooha!)
Forget what we know, it's just a big show
What they want to control
So jaded, frustrated
It's all so complicated
Fashion, no passion, surrounds me

All I know is I've heard this all before
Reality's a bore
You ask me to believe in something fake
Well I can't bring myself to
Do what you want me to
This is who we are and nothing's gonna change
Nothing's gonna change

I can't take part in the businessman illusion
I'll take my chance in the real world confusion
Don't blame us, who do we trust when they're so dishonest?
No patience, this nation's obsessed with exploitation
Lying, denying, surrounds me

All I know is I've heard this all before
Reality's a bore
You ask me to believe in something fake
Well I can't bring myself to
Do what you want me to
This is who we are and nothing's gonna change

Don't think you can ignore us
Don't tell me that we're to blame
Don't pick our future for us
Or act like we're the same!

All I know is I've heard this all before
Reality's a bore
You ask me to believe in something fake
Well I can't bring myself to
Do what you want me to
This is who we are and nothing's gonna change
Nothing's gonna change

Thanks for nothing (I've heard this all before!),
Thanks for nothing (reality's a bore!),
Thanks for nothing (it'll never be the same!),
Thanks for nothing (and nothing's gonna change!)

I Touch Myself-The Divinyls

I love myself
I want you to love me
When I'm feeling down
I want you above me
I search myself
I want you to find me
I forget myself
I want you to remind me

I don't want anybody else
When I think about you I touch myself
I don't want anybody else
Oh no, oh no, oh no

You're the one who makes me happy honey
You're the sun who makes me shine
When you're around I'm always laughing
I want to make you mine

I close my eyes
And see you before me
Think I would die
If you were to ignore me
A fool could see
Just how much I adore you
I get down on my knees
I'd do anything for you

I don't want anybody else
When I think about you I touch myself
I don't want anybody else
Oh no, oh no, oh no

I want you
I don't want anybody else
And when I think about you I touch myself
Ooh, oooh, oooooh, aaaaaah

Now that she’s back in the atmosphere
With drops of jupiter in her hair, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there’s time to change, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like june, hey, hey

Tell me did you sail across the sun
Did you make it to the milky way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated

Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were looking at yourself out there

Now that she’s back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey
She checks out mozart while she does tae-bo
Reminds me that there’s time to grow, hey, hey

Now that she’s back in the atmosphere
I’m afraid that she might think of me as plain ol’ jane
Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the milky way
And tell me, did venus blow your mind
Was it everything you wanted to find
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know you’re wrong
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone
Conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back toward the milky way

Jeremy-Pearl Jam

At home, drawing pictures of mountain tops, with him on top
Lemon yellow sun, arms raised in a V
The dead lay in pools of maroon below

Daddy didn't give attention
To the fact that mommy didn't care
King Jeremy the wicked, oh, ruled his world
Jeremy spoke in class today (2x)

Clearly I remember pickin' on the boy
Seemed a harmless little fuck
But we unleashed a lion
Gnashed his teeth and bit the recess lady's breast
How could I forget?
And he hit me with a surprise left
My jaw left hurtin', ooh, dropped wide open
Just like the day, oh, like the day I heard

Daddy didn't give affection
And the boy was something mommy wouldn't wear
King Jeremy the wicked, ruled his world

Jeremy spoke in class today (3x)
Woo (14x)
Try to forget this...try to forget this...
Try to erase this...try to erase this...
From the blackboard...

Jeremy spoke in class today (2x)
Jeremy spoke in, spoke in (2x)
Jeremy spoke in class today
Woo (29x)
Woooooohhh...spoke in, spoke in
Woooooohhh...uh huh, uh huh...

[i]To lead a better life, I need my love to be here

Here...making each day of the year
Changing my life with the wave of her hand
Nobody can deny that there's something there

There...running my hands through her hair
Both of us thinking how good it can be
Someone is speaking, but she doesn't know he's there

I want her everywhere
And if she's beside me, I know I need never care
But to love her is to need her everywhere
Knowing that love is to share
Each one believing that love never dies
Watching her eyes
And hoping I'm always there

I want her everywhere
And if she's beside me, I know I need never care
But to love her is to need her everywhere
Knowing that love is to share
Each one believing that love never dies
Watching her eyes
And hoping I'm always there

I will be there and everywhere
Here, there, and everywhere

Have I got some GREAT lyrics today. I was tossing up between this GORGEOUS Bjork song about throwing herself off a cliff and wondering what noise her body would make bouncing off the rocks, but I'll save that for another time.
This song's called "Pussy Town" and its by a great outfit called Machine Gun Fellatio-I don't think they're internationally renowned

I like lips and eyes and mouth and smooth soft skin
I got long fingers - gonna draw you in
So put on my moan and take off your clothes
Slide down slow beneath your belly I go

I'm going down, down, down, down, down, down, down,
To Pussy Town

(yeah, baby...)

You got satin silk sheen; you're a fine white glove
You're four time double cream; you're a fine black dove
I got long fingers - gonna draw you in
I like lips and eyes and mouth and smooth soft skin

I'm going down, down, down, down, down, down, down,
To Pussy Town
To Pussy Town
To Pussy Town

I like lips and eyes and mouth and smooth soft skin
I got long fingers - gonna draw you in
So put on my moan and take off your clothes
Slide down slow beneath your belly I go

I'm going down, down, down, down, down, down,
Down, down, down, down, down, down,
Down, down, down, down, down, down, down,

To Pussy Town

Pedro The Lion-Rapture

This is how we mulitply
Pity that it's not my wife
The friction and skin
The trembling sigh
This is how bodies move
With everything we could lose
Pushing us deeper still
The sheets and the sweat
The seed and the spill
The bitter pill yet undiscovered

Gideon is in the drawer
Clothes scattered on the floor
She's arching her back
She screams for more

Oh, my sweet rapture
I hear Jesus
Calling me home

Finally a chance to breathe
Reaching for the the fallen sheets
Collapsing in a glowing heap
We've gone too far
We've done too much
We have to quit it
Just one more kiss
Just one more touch
Please ten more minutes

This feels so good
Just barely moving
The tensiojn building
Our bodies working
To reach the goal

Oh, my sweet rapture
I hear Jesus and the angels singing
Halleluiah
Calling me to enter the promised land

ahh pedro.

[On to another classic Beatles tune, this time from Rubber Soul.]

There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone, and some remain

All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love of something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more

In my life
I love you more

Trying to find the piano part on the web for this song:

Jesus was way cool
Everybody liked Jesus
Everybody wanted to hang out with him
Anything he wanted to do, he did
He turned water into wine
And if he wanted to
He could have turned weed into marijuana
Or sugar into cocaine
Or vitamin pills into amphetamines

He walked on the water
And swam on the land
He would tell these stories
And people would listen
He was really cool

If you were blind or lame
You just went to Jesus
And he would put his hands on you
And you would be healed
That's so cool

He could've played guitar better than Hendrix
He could've told the future
He could've baked the most delicious cake in the world
He could've scored more goals than Wayne Gretzky
He could've danced better than Barishnikov
Jesus could have been funnier than any comedian you can think of
Jesus was way cool

He told people to eat his body and drink his blood
That's so cool
Jesus was so cool
But then some people got jealous of how cool he was
So they killed him
But then he rose from the dead
He rose from the dead, danced around
Then went up to heaven
I mean, that's so cool
Jesus was way cool

No wonder there are so many Christians

Take my photo off the wall
If it just won't sing for you
'Cause all that's left has gone away
And there's nothing there for you to prove

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
Oh well, it seems likes such fun
Until you lose what you had won

Give me back my point of view
'Cause I just can't think for you
I can hardly hear you say
What should I do, well you choose

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
Oh well, it seems likes such fun
Until you lose what you had won

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
A fool of everyone
A fool of everyone

Take my photo off the wall
If it just won't sing for you
'Cause all that's left has gone away
And there's nothing there for you to do

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
Oh well, it seems likes such fun
Until you lose what you had won

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
A fool of everyone
A fool of everyone

I actually like Jet...and since my opinion is all that matters, that's the end of that. I actually think "Look what you've done" is awesome and has a really classic feel to it (yes, I know, some'll say it's a Beatles rip off...but ffs the Beatles broke so much ground nigh on everything modern can be linked back to the Beatles in some way).

ON topic...as promised...Clones by Ash

Now you're a clone
With heart of stone
Synthetic soul
Brainwashed and cold
You're just a drone
Got no control
Forced in a mould
Processed and sold

Hey you know I find it frightening
How you change just as fast as lightning

You fell from grace
Leaving no trace
You've been replaced
Your name erased

Hey it's your self-destruction
You never listen to my instruction

Shame, shame, shame, shame

Shame that everyone's the same
I thought you stood alone
Were different from the clones

You were a flash of light
A meteorite
Unique in time
Now out of sight
For I have seen what could have been
A vivid dream
A prophecy

Hey now there's no use waiting
Everything is disintegrating

Shame that everyone's the same
I thought you stood alone
Were different from the clones
I thought you were the true
Exception to the rule
But the truth it is cruel

Clones, clones, clones, clones
Clones, clones, clones, clones

Hey now there's no use waiting
Everything is disintegrating

Shame that everyone's the same
I thought you stood alone
Were different from the clones
I thought you were the true
Exception to the rule
But the truth it is cruel

Heard this song today after ages and these are the bestest song lyrics EVAR

Yesterday Went Too Soon: Feeder

Sitting in today, watching traffic buzzing by, and faces nosing in
A victim of regret, it glitters and it fades away, like silver turning grey
Washed it all away, waiting for this dream to end, before it sucks me in

I'm climbing high, up above the streets and rows of neon lights
I'm holding out my hand but I'm alone
Wish I could show you
Wish you could see through my eyes
Tomorrow shines through
But I'm missing yesterday

Crashing on the ground, the silence seems to suffocate, and bury me again
Waiting for a taste, of happiness to lift me free, and carry me away

I'm climbing high, up above the streets and rows of neon lights
I know it's just a dream but I'm alive
Wish I could show you
Wish you could see through my eyes
Tomorrow shines through
But I'm missing yesterday
I'm still missing yesterday
I'll wait, I'll wait for you tonight.

Lost another week, feeling like a leper in, a world of vanity
It's killing me today, addiction pulls you down, you know
And she's the drug I need

Wish I could show you
Wish you could see through my eyes
Tomorrow shines through
But I'm missing yesterday
Wish I could show you
Wish you could see through my eyes
Tomorrow shines through
But I'm missing yesterday.

It's the title track to the album by the same name which contains some AWESOME songs.

I get home from work and you're still standing in your dressing gown
Well what am I to do?
I know all the things around your head and what they do to you
What are we coming to?
What are we gonna do?

Blame it on the black star
Blame it on the falling sky
Blame it on the satellite that beams me home

The troubled words of a troubled mind I try to understand what is eating you
I try to stay awake but its 58 hours since that I last slept with you
What are we coming to?
I just don't know anymore

Blame it on the black star
Blame it on the falling sky
Blame it on the satellite that beams me home

I get on the train and I just stand about now that I don't think of you
I keep falling over I keep passing out when I see a face like you
What am I coming to?
I'm gonna melt down

Blame it on the black star
Blame it on the falling sky
Blame it on the satellite that beams me home
This is killing me
This is killing me

Listening to it when I saw thread was bumped back into life. YAY! Radiohead - Black Star.

Sally Simpson (part of The Who's 'Tommy', about a boy who is deaf, dumb and blind) is one of my favourite songs. The lyrics are so touching:

Outside the house Mr. Simpson announced
that Sally couldn't go to the meeting.
He went on cleaning his blue Rolls Royce
and she ran inside weeping.
She got to her room and tears splashed the picture
of the new Messiah.
She picked up a book of her fathers life
and threw it on the fire!

She knew from the start
Deep down in her heart
That she and Tommy were worlds apart,
But her Mother said never mind your part...
Is to be what you'll be.

The theme of the sermon was come unto me,
Love will find a way,
So Sally decided to ignore her dad,
and sneak out anyway!
She spent all afternoon getting ready,
and decided she'd try to touch him,
Maybe he'd see that she was free
and talk to her this Sunday.

She knew from the start
Deep down in her heart
That she and Tommy were worlds apart,
But her Mother said never mind your part...
Is to be what you'll be.

She arrived at six and the place was swinging
to gospel music by nine.
Group after group appeared on the stage
and Sally just sat there crying.
She bit her nails looking pretty as a picture
right in the very front row
And then a DJ wearing a blazer with a badge
ran on and said 'here we go!'

The crowd went crazy
As Tommy hit the stage!
Little Sally got lost as the police bossed
The crowd back in a rage!

But soon the atmosphere was cooler
as Tommy gave a lesson.
Sally just had to let him know she loved him
and leapt up on the rostrum!
She ran cross stage to the spotlit figure
and touched him on the face
Tommy whirled around as a uniformed man,
threw her of the stage.

She knew from the start
Deep down in her heart
That she and Tommy were worlds apart,
But her Mother said never mind your part...
Is to be what you'll be.

Her cheek hit a chair and blood trickled down,
mingling with her tears,
Tommy carried on preaching
and his voice filled Sally's ear
She caught his eye she had to try
but couldn't see through the lights
Her face was gashed and the ambulance men
had to carry her out that night.

The crowd went crazy
As Tommy left the stage!
Little Sally was lost for the price of a touch
And a gash across her face! OOoooh.

Sixteen stitches put her right and her Dad said
'don't say I didn't warn yer'.
Sally got married to a rock musician
she met in California
Tommy always talks about the day
the disciples all went wild!
Sally still carries a scar on her cheek
to remind her of his smile.

She knew from the start
Deep down in her heart
That she and Tommy were worlds apart,
But her Mother said never mind your part...
Is to be what you'll be.

Major bumpage but I heard this today on the radio after ages and had to share...classic song...don't care if people have issues with my taste...:p

New Order "True Faith"

I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
I don't care 'cause I'm not there
And I don't care if I'm here tomorrow
Again and again I've taken too much
Of the things that cost you too much
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

When I was a very small boy,
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we've grown up together
They're afraid of what they see
That's the price that we all pay
Our valued destiny comes to nothing
I can't tell you where we're going
I guess there was just no way of knowing
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
The chances are we've gone too far
You took my time and you took my money
Now I fear you've left me standing
In a world that's so demanding
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

Re-listening to all my old Green Day...some choice lyrics here...

"Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)"

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why.
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time.
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial.
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

And my personal favourite...and MY anthem..."Basket Case" :D

Do you have the time to listen to me whine
About nothing and everything all at once
I am one of those
Melodramatic fools
Neurotic to the bone
No doubt about it

Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
Am I just paranoid ?
Am I just stoned

I went to a shrink
To analyze my dreams
she says it's lack of sex that's bringing me down
I went to a whore
He said my life's a bore
So quit my whining cause it's bringing her down

Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
Am I just paranoid ?
i dont know

Grasping to control
So I better hold on

Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
Am I just paranoid ?
Am I just stoned

Yellow by coldplay

Look at the stars; look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah, they were all yellow

I came along; I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called yellow

So then I took my turn
Oh what a thing to have done
And it was all yellow

Your skin, oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know?
You know I love you so
You know I love you so

I swam across; I jumped across for you
Oh what a thing to do
'Cos you were all yellow

I drew a line; I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow

And your skin, oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know?
For you I bleed myself dry
For you I bleed myself dry

It's true
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for...
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine

Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And all the things that you do

In one single moment your whole life can turn 'round
I stand there for a minute starin' straight into the ground
Lookin' to the left slightly, then lookin' back down
World feels like it's caved in - proper sorry frown
Please let me show you where we could only just be, for us
I can change and I can grow or we could adjust
The wicked thing about us is we always have trust
We can even have an open relationship, if you must
I look at her she stares almost straight back at me
But her eyes glaze over like she's lookin' straight through me
Then her eyes must have closed for what seems an eternity
When they open up she's lookin' down at her feet

Dry your eyes mate
I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up
There's plenty more fish in the sea
Dry your eyes mate
I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts
But you've got to walk away now
It's over

So then I move my hand up from down by my side
It's shakin', my life is crashin' before my eyes
Turn the palm of my hand up to face the skies
Touch the bottom of her chin and let out a sigh
'Cause I can't imagine my life without you and me
There's things I can't imagine doin', things I can't imagine seein'
It weren't supposed to be easy, surely
Please, please, I beg you please
She brings her hands up towards where my hands rested
She wraps her fingers round mine with the softness she's blessed with
She peels away my fingers, looks at me and then gestures
By pushin' my hand away to my chest, from hers

Dry your eyes mate
I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up
There's plenty more fish in the sea
Dry your eyes mate
I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts
But you've got to walk away now
It's over

And I'm just standin' there, I can't say a word
'Cause everythin's just gone
I've got nothin'
Absolutely nothin'

Tryin' to pull her close out of bare desperation
Put my arms around her tryin' to change what she's sayin'
Pull my head level with hers so she might engage in
Look into her eyes to make her listen again
I'm not gonna fuckin', just fuckin' leave it all now
'Cause you said it'd be forever and that was your vow
And you're gonna let our things simply crash and fall down
You're well out of order now, this is well out of town
She pulls away, my arms are tightly clamped round her waist
Gently pushes me back and she looks at me straight
Turns around so she's now got her back to my face
Takes one step forward, looks back, and then walks away

Dry your eyes mate
I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up
There's plenty more fish in the sea
Dry your eyes mate
I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts
But you've got to walk away now
It's over

I know in the past I've found it hard to say
Tellin' you things, but not tellin' straight
But the more I pull on your hand and say
The more you pull away

Dry your eyes mate
I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up
There's plenty more fish in the sea
Dry your eyes mate
I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts
But you've got to walk away now.

Dont You Forget About Me-Simple Minds

Hey, hey, hey ,hey
Ohhh...

Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby

Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on

Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me

Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down

Will you recognise me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ohhhh.....

Don't you try to pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security

Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me

As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away

Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on - call my name
Will you all my name?

I say :
La la la...

Mad World-Gary Jules

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going no where
Going no where
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find I kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Enlarging your world
Mad world

Head Over Heels-Tears For Fears

I wanted to be with you alone
And talk about the weather
But traditions I can trace against the child in your face
Won't escape my attention
You keep your distance with a system of touch
And gentle persuasion
I'm lost in admiration could I need you this much
Oh, you're wasting my time
You're just wasting time

Something happens and I'm head over heels
I never find out till I'm head over heels
Something happens and I'm head over heels
Ah don't take my heart
Don't break my heart
Don't throw it away

I made a fire and watching burn
Thought of your future
With one foot in the past now just how long will it last
No no no have you no ambition
My mother and my brothers used to breathe in clean in air
And dreaming I'm a doctor
It's hard to be a man when there's a gun in your hand
Oh I feel so...

Something happens and I'm head over heels

And this my four leaf clover
I'm on the line, one open mind
This is my four leaf clover

You Are My All in All-Point of Grace

You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
Seeking you as a precious jewel
Lord to give up I'd be a fool
You are my all in all

Chorus:
Jesus, lamb of God,
worthy is your name,
Jesus, lamb of God,
worthy is your name.

Taking my sin my cross my shame
Rising again I bless your name
You are my all in all
When I fall down you pick me up
When I am dry you fill my cup
Youare my all in all

Baby Got Back

I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waste
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung
Wanna pull up front
Cuz you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh, baby I wanna get with ya
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that butt you got
Me so horny
Ooh, rub all of that smooth skin
You say you wanna get in my Benz
Well use me, use me cuz you ain't that average groupy

I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
She sweat, wet, got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
saying flat butt's the only thing
Take the average black man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back, so...
Fellas (yeah), fellas (yeah)
Has your girlfriend got the butt (hell yeah)
Well shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, shake that healthy butt
Baby got back

(LA face with Oakland booty)

I like'em round and big
And when I'm throwin' a gig
I just can't help myself
I'm actin like an animal
Now here's my scandal

I wanna get you home
And ugh, double ugh, ugh
I ain't talkin' bout Playboy
Cuz silicone parts were made for toys
I wannem real thick and juicy
So find that juicy double
Mixalot's in trouble
Beggin' for a piece of that bubble
So I'm lookin' at rock videos
Watchin' these bimbos walkin' like hoes
You can have them bimbos
I'll keep my women like Flo Jo
A word to the thick soul sistas
I wanna get with ya
I won't cus or hit ya
But I gotta be straight when I say I wanna ____
Til the break of dawn
Baby, I got it goin on
A lot of pimps won't like this song
Cuz them punks like to hit it and quit it
But I'd rather stay and play
Cuz I'm long and I'm strong
And I'm down to get the friction on

So ladies (yeah), ladies (yeah)
If you wanna role in my Mercedes (yeah)
Then turn around
Stick it out
Even white boys got to shout
Baby got back

(LA face with the Oakland booty)

Yeah baby
When it comes to females
Cosmo and got nothin to do with my selection
36-24-36
Only if she's 5'3"

So your girlfriend rolls a Honda
Playin' workout tapes by Fonda
But Fonda ain't got a motor in the back of her Honda
My anaconda don't want none unless you've got buns hon
You can do side bends or sit-ups, but please don't lose that butt
Some brothers wanna play that hard role
and tell you that the butt need to go
So they toss it and leave it
And I pull up quick to retrieve it
So Cosmo says you're fat
Well I ain't down with that
Cuz your waste is small and your curves are kickin'
And I'm thinkin' bout stickin'
To the beanpole dames in the magazines
You ain't it Miss Thang
Give me a sista I can't resist her
Red beans and rice didn't miss her
Some knucklehead tried to dis
Cuz his girls were on my list
He had game but he chose to hit 'em
And pulled up quick to get with 'em
So ladies if the butt is round
And you wanna triple X throw down
Dial 1-900-mixalot and kick them nasty thoughts
Baby got back

God won't know me
I can hardly get up
I sold my halo back in April
Now I can't hold my head up

So ring out the bell
I'll fly where there's someone to tell
My shoulders are colder since I fell

Someone see me
Hear me breathing
Someone get me home soon
If I see sunrise and screw up my eyes
I don't feel so lonesome

So ring out the bell
I'll fly where there's someone to tell
My shoulders are colder since I fell

I'm doing fine
I'm getting by
Tell me what I should do
God knows why I'm watching the sky
I'm so...blue...

One fine morning
Without warning
I'll go through the blue sky
Until I do, I'll wait for you
So I can get this right

So ring out the bell
I'll fly where there's someone to tell
My shoulders are colder since I fell

So ring out the bell
I'll fly where there's someone to tell
My shoulders are colder since I fell

Time is never time at all
You can never ever leave without leaving a piece of youth
And our lives are forever changed
We will never be the same
The more you change the less you feel

Believe, believe in me, believe
Believe that life can change
That you're not stuck in vain
We're not the same, we're different tonight
Tonight, so bright
Tonight

And you know you're never sure
But you're sure you could be right
If you held yourself up to the light
And the embers never fade in your city by the lake
The place where you were born

Believe, believe in me, believe
Believe in the resolute urgency of now
And if you believe there's not a chance tonight
Tonight, so bright
Tonight

We'll crucify the insincere tonight
We'll make things right, we'll feel it all tonight
We'll find a way to offer up the night tonight
The indescribable moments of your life tonight
The impossible is possible tonight
Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight

Please forgive me...

Yeah, David Gray is just too good.

So far we've had This Year's Love, And Please Forgive Me...and this one will be Sail Away (which after This Year's Love is probably my favourite song by him).

Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now

Crazy skies all wild above me now
Winter howling at my face
And everything I held so dear
Disappeared without a trace
Oh all the times I've tasted love
Never knew quite what I had
Little Darling if you hear me now
Never needed you so bad
Spinning round inside my head

Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now

I've been talking drunken gibberish
Falling in and out of bars
Trying to find some explanation here
For the way some people are
How did it ever come so far

Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now
Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now

Repeat chorus

Hindu Time-Oasis

I get up - when I’m down
I can’t swim - but my soul won’t drown
I do believe - I got flare
I got speed and I walk on air

Cos God gimme soul in your rock’n’roll babe
Cos God gimme soul in your rock’n’roll babe

And I get so high I just can’t feel it
And I get so high I just can’t feel it

In and out my brain, runnin’ through my veins
Cos you’re my sunshine you’re my rain

There’s a light - that shines on
Shines - on - me - and it keeps me warm
It gimme peace - I must say
I can’t sleep - cos the world won’t wait

And I get so high I just can’t feel it
And I get so high I just can’t feel it

Good song lyrics? Just about every Rage song ever made, but since I can't list them all, here are a few of my favorites.

Bullet in the Head
Rage

this time the bullet cold rocked ya
a yellow ribbon instead of a swastika
nothin' proper about ya propaganda
fools follow rules when the set commands ya
they said it was blue
when the blood was red
that's how you got a bullet blasted through ya head
blasted through ya head
blasted through ya head
i give a shout out to the living dead
who stood and watched as the feds cold centralized
so serene on the screen you was mesmerized
cellular phone soundin' like a death tone
corporations cold turn you to stone before ya realize
they load the clip in omnicolor
said they pack the 9, they fire at it prime time
sleeping gas, every home was like Alcatraz
and mutha fuckas lost their minds

just victims of the in-house drive-by
they say jump, you say how high

they load the clip in omnicolor
said they pack the 9, they fire at it prime time
sleeping gas, every home was like Alcatraz
and mutha fuckas lost their minds
no escape from the mass mind rape
play it again jack and then rewind the tape
and then play it again and again and again
until ya mind is locked in
believin' all the lies that they're tellin' ya
buyin' all the products that they're sellin' ya
they say jump and ya say how high
ya brain dead
ya got a fuckin' bullet in ya head

just victims of the in-house drive-by
they say jump, you say how high

ya standin' in line
believin' the lies
ya bowin' down to the flag
ya gotta bullet in ya head

Know Your Enemy
Rage

born with insight and a raised fist
a witness to the slit wrist
as we move into '92
still in a room without a view
ya got to know
ya got to know
that we I say go, go, go
amp up and amplify
defy
I'm a brother with a furious mind
action must be taken
we don't need the key
we'll brake in
something must be done
about vengence, a badge, and a gun
'cause I'll rip the mic,
rip the stage,
rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em
fist in ya face, in the place
and I'll drop the style clearly
know your enemy

word is born
fight the war, fuck the norm
now I got no patience
so sick of complacence
with the D the E the F the I the A the N the C the E
mind of a revolutionary
so clear the lane
the finger to the land of the chains
what? the land of the free?
whoever told you that is your enemy
now something must be done
about vengence, a badge, and a gun
'cause I'll rip the mic,
rip the stage,
rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em
now action must be taken
we don't need the key
we'll brake in

I've got no patience now
so sick of complacence now
I've got no patience now
so sick of complacence now
sick of sick of sick of sick of sick of you
time has come to pay

yes I know my enemies
they're the teachers who taught me to fight me
compromise, conformity,
assimilation, submission,
ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality,
the elite
all of which are American dreams

Wake Up
Rage

although ya try to discredit
ya still never edit
the needle, I'll thread it
radically poetic
standin' with the fury that they had in '66
and like E-Double, I'm mad
still knee-deep in the system's shit
Hoover, he was a body remover
I'll give you a dose
but it could never come close
to the rage built up inside of me
fist in the air, in the land of hypocrisy
movements come and movements go
leaders speak, movements cease
when they're heads are flown
'cause all these punks
got bullets in their heads
departments of police, the judges, the feds
networks at work,
keepin' people calm
you know they went after King
when he spoke out on Vietnam
he turned the power to the have-nots
and then came the shot

wit' poetry my mind I flex
flip like Wilson,
vocals never lackin' dat finesse
whadda I got to whadda I got to
do to wake ya up
to shake ya up, to break the structure up
'cause the blood still flows in the gutter
I'm like takin' photos
mad boy kicks open the shutter
set the groove
then I stick and move like I was Cassius
rep the stutter step
then bomb a left upon the fascists
yea, the several federal men
who pulled schemes on the dream
and put it to an end
ya betta beware
of retribution with mind war
20/20 visions and murals with metaphors
the networks at work, keepin' people calm
ya know they murdered X
and tried to blame it on Islam
he turned the power to the have-nots
and then came the shot

what was the price on his head

wake up

Keira_Lover has TASTE. GG chief.

That debut album has never been surpassed...and now never will be...<sighs>.

Another classic from it:

Take The Power Back

Bring that shit in! Uggh!
Yeah, the movement's in motion with mass militant poetry
Now check this out...uggh!
In the right light, study becomes insight
But the system that dissed us
Teaches us to read and write

So called facts are fraud
They want us to allege and pledge
And bow down to their God
Lost the culture, the culture lost
Spun our minds and through time
Ignorance has taken over
Yo, we gotta take the power back!
Bam! Here's the plan
Motherfuck Uncle Sam
Step back, I know who I am
Raise up your ear, I'll drop the style and clear
It's the beats and the lyrics they fear
The rage is relentless
We need a movement with a quickness
You are the witness of change
And to counteract
We gotta take the power back

Yeah, we gotta take the power back
Come on, come on!
We gotta take the power back

The present curriculum
I put my fist in 'em
Eurocentric every last one of 'em
See right through the red, white and blue disguise
With lecture I puncture the structure of lies
Installed in our minds and attempting
To hold us back
We've got to take it back
'Cause holes in our spirit causin' tears and fears
One-sided stories for years and years and years
I'm inferior? Who's inferior?
Yea, we need to check the interior
Of the system that cares about only one culture
And that is why
We gotta take the power back

Yeah, we gotta take the power back
Come on, come on!
We gotta take the power back

Hey yo check, we're gonna have to break it, break it, break it down
Awww shit!
Uggh!
And like this...uggh!
Come on, yeah! Bring it back the other way!
The teacher stands in front of the class
But the lesson plan he can't recall
The student's eyes don't perceive the lies
Bouning off every fucking wall
His composure is well kept
I guess he fears playing the fool
The complacent students sit and listen to some of that
Bullshit that he learned in school

Europe ain't my rope to swing on
Can't learn a thing from it
Yet we hang from it
Gotta get it, gotta get it together then
Like the motherfuckin' Weathermen
To expose and close the doors on those who try
To strangle and mangle the truth
'Cause the circle of hatred continues unless we react
We gotta take the power back

Yeah, we gotta take the power back
Come on, come on!
We gotta take the power back

No more lies (8 times, building to a crescendo)
Uggh!
Yeah!
Take it back Joe
Take it back, a-take it back
A-take it back Joe, come on!
Take it back Joe
Take it back, a-take it back
A-take it back Joe, come on!
Uggh!
Yeah!
